Attention is a cognitive phenomenon that, for its multiple functions and its permeability to emotional and cultural aspects, it’s a phenomenon with difficult definition. At the same time, the reasons that difficult its definition makes it a fundamental piece to understand the human behaviour, particularly the way that it interacts with its environment. In this article, we want to review the role of attention in the awareness process that allow the subject an adequate adaptation to the environment, and, through it, set his perspective of reality, his own «world».

The issue of the relationship between psychoanalysis and science has been widely debated since the origins of psychoanalysis. This paper approaches the issue from Jacques Lacan's work. The question «Is psychoanalysis a science?» is insufficient and is necessary consider the problem from another perspective. Lacan proposes a novel way to approaching the relationship between psychoanalysis and science, from the dimension of the subject, knowledge and truth.

Such in Summa contra Gentiles as in Summa Theologica the «fifth way» has the structure of an analogy of proportionality. However, each of the Summas used differently this idea of God as «intelligent designer» obtained by analogy. In Summa contra Gentiles this analogue is used in a dialectical plan, while in Summa Theologica that term to an analogy of attribution is applied to explain the creative action. The article explains the reasons for this double strategy developed, however, from the same initial analogy.

The truth-conditional conception of meaning is an explanation of representational relation of language as a relation between language and reality. The notion of truth conditions has been used to express a direct connection between the concepts of meaning as reference and truth, based on the assumption that natural languages behave as interpreted formal languages. Arguments will be presented about the impossibility of having a theory of reference that supports the truth-conditional explanation. The representational relation language-reality fails in the explanation of the meaning of natural language.

The links between belief, truth and pragmatism are recurrent topics in epistemology. Recently, some publications have analyzed the aims of belief, following Williams’ popular statement ‘belief aims at truth’. Some of these authors defend a normative link between belief and truth and they explore the possible epistemic norms of belief, while others prefer to analyze beliefs in terms of values. Other philosophers defend that beliefs do not always aim at truth. Here I analyze and compare these ideas about belief, truth and pragmatism defending that belief can be better understood with a constitutive relationship between belief and truth.

In contemporary discussions, one of the main arguments adduced against intentionalism is its supposed incompatibility with interpretative pluralism, due to its monist nature. In this paper I will discus the scope of R. Stecker’s attempt to make monism and pluralism compatible and G. Currie’s pluralist intentionalism. Finally, I will try to show what special kind of pluralism could be endorsed by intentionalism without needing to abandon its concept of art and its idea of artistic interpretation.

In this text we compare modern political philosophy, absolutism, especially Hobbes, with contemporary sociological thinking, from Adam Smith. The change, or the difference, is located in the notion of social productivity. For classical thought, social productivity culminates in the idea of virtue, rather absent in contemporary sociology. Above virtue Polo suggests that is the notion of person: its fecundity is the root of social productivity.

Palabras clave Grecia; arte; modelo; utopía; ética-política AbstractThe image of the Greece of Pericles has been an ideal city for many generations. During the Romanticism, authors like Schiller and Hölderlin, among others, conceived it from a philosophical perspective in such a way that it has configured to some extent the image that we have received from Greece. Beyond that, and even admitting that it is a regulative ideal of the reason, it is still a philosophical model with artistic and ethical-political values, as its idea of beauty, civility and cosmopolitanism, which do not cease to question us in the form of utopian horizon always to come. Keywords Greece; art; model; utopia; ethical-political

The Aristotelian definition of man as a political animal (zoon politikon) is not exempt from possible interpretations, including that only within a polis can the human being be happy. From the case of the philia as it appear, above all, in books VIII and IX of Nicomachean Ethics and in relation to the figure of spoudaios that appears also in both books, I propose a ‘political’ reading of Nicomachean Ethics. I understand by ‘political reading’ a conception in which the guiding thread and fundamental motive of ethics is, rather than research into the necessary conditions to attain individual happiness, one concerning with the ideal character of the good man (spoudaios) and of the good citizen. Secondly, I make some parallels between this reading and the Hegelian interpretation of some Aristotelian ideas. I conclude that the omission of a detailed treatment of the philia in Hegel’s ethics-politics implies a fundamental difference in the approach that both authors make of the practical philosophy.
