Resumen
Mexico has a significant proportion of indigenous population. Although thisis a heterogeneous group, indigenous people are part of the poorest, mostdiscriminated and disadvantaged populations in this country, and their livingconditions are below national and regional averages. Using information fromthe Epidemiological Surveillance System for Viral Respiratory Diseases, weanalyze the socio demographic and health factors associated with Covid-19
deaths; emphasizing the effects that this phenomenon has on the indige-nous population. The logistic regression model identifies factors associated
with structural inequalities among the most significant predictors associated
with Covid-19 death risk in Mexico. Findings highlight the particular vulnera-bility that marginalized populations are subject to in the face of the Covid
pandemic.

Resumen
This article examines the working situation of Mexico City visual and performing artists, underlining the hard data of their working conditions and their consequences in their personal lives. The author did twenty-eight qualitative on-line interviews with artists from the ages of twenty-four to forty-one between September 2020 and February 2021. The results show that they all worked in precarious jobs with oppressive consequences for their lives. She argues that labor precariousness is a complex, multidimensional process, whose interlinked and inter-dependent elements affect individuals’ lives both professionally and personally.

Resumen
The objective of this research was to know the experiences of Mexican academic women, against SARS-Cov-2. We were interested in identifying the tensions they experienced and the coping strategies they put in practice in pandemic contexts. The study was qualitative exploratory, semi-structured interviews were conducted with a group of academic women from Mexican public universities in four regions of the country. The results made visible a series of tensions in the academic, personal, family, and domestic dimensions, as well as the individual and collaborative actions that the faculty women implemented to confront them.

This text reflects on the ideas of miscegenation, whiteness, racialization and class developing two closely related arguments: first, in opposition to the idea that Mexicans do not give importance to racialized categories, here the way in which the that social subjects and practices are read through a hierarchy that situates white and non-white at opposite poles, and a series of positive connotations are given to the former and negative to the latter. Second, that the great difficulty in understanding racialized Mexican thought –and in a certain way Latin American– resides in the way in which racialized notions and class dynamics are intertwined. Thus, an analysis model is proposed in which social class and racialization operate as a unit. The empirical material to demonstrate these two arguments comes from an ethnographic work carried out in three golf clubs in Mexico City, as well as from 58 interviews carried out among members, workers and instructors of the same.

The article focuses on the aspiration of subjective and relative social mobilityof young people in their last year of Administration, Law and Engineeringdegrees from two consolidated universities in Mexico City, one public andthe other private, distinguished by their sociocultural configuration. . Facedwith the question: do Mexican university students from consolidated publicand private universities aspire to social mobility? We compared their perceptionof family social class and their aspirations for social position in employment, economic and prestige, by gender and career. We found that theyaspire to move subjectively and intergenerationally with differences betweenthose who study at the public and private universities, because the configurationsbetween variables play in different ways.

This article presents an approximation of the geographical redistribution of Mexican sciences based on a comparative study of the geographical location of members of the National System of Researchers (SNI) between 2002 and 2018. The authors contrast several aspects: the number of SNI members by region, the regional concentration of fields of knowledge, the composition of regional sub-groups by SNI level, and the distribution of SNI members by sex. Their analysis of the information shows that partial —but not minor— changes have taken place in the fields of knowledge in different areas of the country and that the territorial distribution of researchers is linked to their levels within the SNI.

Resumen
This article reviews the National Council of Science and Technology’s main activities since its foundation in 1970 and throughout the administration of President Luis Echeverría Álvarez (1970-1976). It goes over certain indicators of scientific work and describes programs and projects supported both by the council’s own resources and by international cooperation. It also explores the scientific articles published in the period that were considered important by the Web of Science organization indices. The information they contain proves the hypothesis that, thanks to the institutionalization of the scientific system in Mexico, begun in 1970, it was possible to organize, support, and promote scientific research in the country, a fact seen in the growth in the number of publications cited. The author’s objective is to show the impact the new institution had in increasing the dynamism of scientific work nationally and internationally.
