Resumen
How do Democracies End?
I do not refer explicitly to Revel’s classic book, although obviously the concern is the same. In September of last year, signed the pacts of Havana, the “Tenth Conference of the Farc-Ep” was held in the plains of Yarí. As a result of that conference, a long manifesto entitled “The political solution as part of our history” was written. It is not possible, in this brief writing, to refer to all the content of the manifesto, but to two or three paragraphs that, in my opinion, synthesize the thought of the leadership of that guerrilla that devastated the country for more than 50 years and that apparently, intends to continue ravaging it.

Resumen
This work reviews Chilean retail advertisement based on a content analysis of ads in printed media during 1997 and 2013, in order to link the observed changes with the sociocultural evolution of the country. The results show a more active participation from the consumers towards the supply, with advertisement trying to integrate them –as characters– and making them an active part of the message.

Resumen
This article presents the cycle of transformations experienced by a simple media –a photographic poster– over four months. By following and describing the changes of a photographic poster located in a public space, some interesting aspects are revealed. The situated and almost archaeological analysis of a simple medium reveals aspects about the functioning of the media frequently. Some of these aspects are ignored by theoretical representations and very general and static models of public communication.

Resumen
This paper analyzes the presence of the objective method in the news published by the Chilean, Mexican and Spanish press. The reporting strategies linked to journalistic objectivity predominate in the three countries. While in the Chilean and Mexican press the objective method is more present through the use of quotes, their Spanish colleagues express the objective method through the use of verifiable information.

Resumen
This article studies the reception of the Spanish television fiction, by combining offline analysis techniques (questionnaires and focus group) and online (analysis of comments on the Internet). The offline analysis reveals the complementary and specialized nature of the devices, but the online analyses do not provide evidence about the impact of the second screen in the socialization process, nor on the construction of feminine identity.

Resumen
This research analyzes the persuasive strategies used by the electoral broadcasts of the nine political parties that contended for Guadalajara’s mayor’s office in 2015, as well as those from the independent delegate candidate, Pedro Kumamoto. For this endeavor, Arantxa Capdevila’s methodological proposal and some contributions from film theory and film aesthetics were recovered, since the article discusses audiovisual products intimately linked to this cinematic tradition.
