The mangrove crab fishery has had participatory monitoring since 2011. The objective of this work was to show the lessons learned in the implementation and development of participatory monitoring of the mangrove crab Ucides occidentalis (Ortmann, 1897) in Ecuador. The work was carried out as a descriptive case study. The level of compliance of the fishing organizations involved was estimated considering the information reported by the Public Institute of Aquaculture and Fisheries Research. The level of compliance decreased over time despite the fact that the number of organizations increased between 2011 and 2013. In 2013, the overall compliance was less than 40% with a negative trend, since December 2011. Among the best organizations, the Compliance level reached 60% in 2013, with a negative trend since January of the same year. The lessons learned showed that the follow-up presented a level of compliance with a negative trend over time; furthermore, the increase in the number of participating organizations did not ensure an increase in the compliance of fishing organizations. Participatory monitoring may fail in the generation of scientific information on the fishery resource. Apparently, participatory monitoring continues to work. Some fishing organizations (e.g., Mondragón) collect and submit data, but the level of compliance and the number of participating organizations are unknown.

This article proposes a dialogue between the historiography of modern Spanish history and the ethnographic process I lived through while I was researching the Basque conflict. The narratives explored in this research will help us understand other cases in which oral history and political violence converge in a single text. Oral history was born in the middle of the twentieth century but it has become a common practice in the twenty first century. However, there is a lack of self-questioning by historians when they carry out their interviews. If the purpose of oral history is to hear the stories of persons who witnessed important historical events, then surely, we historians are witnesses to these testimonios during the interviews. We represent the place were the narrator places his life story.

This article initially makes a historical presentation of the social and political scenario in Brazil in the 1950s and 1960s, especially in the Northeast, when the first priests named Fidei Donum immigrated. Then, a brief analysis of some passages of the encyclical Fidei Donum, related to the scenario of decolonization in Africa, is carry out. It is highlighted that the summoning of missionary priests from Northern countries to work on the African continent is extended to Latin America: and, these had as their main mission to combat communism and protestantism. Oral history interviews carried out with some missionary priests who worked in the Northeast of Brazil, allows us to reflect on how, in daily practice, some did not comply with the recommendation of this Encyclical. And by showing solidarity with the needs of the poorest layers of the population, they were called communists and after the 1964 coup, they were interrogated by police and military agents, arrested and even expelled.

The purpose of this study is to identify specific areas of opportunity for Mexican SMEs in emerging markets to implement them as a competitive advantage. This as a consequence of the adverse scenarios faced by these small and medium economic units. The implemented method was a bibliometric analysis using the Scopus (n/d) and Web of Science (n/d) search engines, in addition of using the VOSviewer (n/d) software as a strategic analysis. The keywords used were «emerging market» and «SMEs» searched in the titles, abstracts and keywords of the documents selected by the refinement criteria applied. In addition, only some thematic areas were considered as well as only the years 2017-2021, which resulted in 556 documents. Among the findings, it turned out that SMEs are a relevant object of study for various scientific disciplines today, and the behavior of these economic units is being studied in the face of globalization, strategic collaborative networks and business innovation. To conclude, companies must have an open perspective to new ways of doing business; the globalization experienced today can represent either a problem or an opportunity to grow and turn it into a competitive advantage. It will all depend on the point of view of the decision makers in these org anizations.

The accelerated digital transformation of businesses, changing local consumer behavior, and digital and direct marketing plans had to be transformed during the pandemic. This forced companies to rethink their marketing strategy to remain effective and retain or attract their customers. Regardless of the size of the company, the product, or the industry to which they belong, many of them did not care to trace the real path that their customers travel to reach them. The objective of this research is to identify if the mapping of the customer journey applied in global organizations is known and recognized in companies in Mexico as a key tool of marketing strategy. A review of the available theory and quantitative research on the workforce in marketing positions of companies in Mexico is carried out. The results showed that 46 % don’t know the actual customer journey of their customers and 83 % say that they are interested to know how to map the customer journey to carry out more precise, innovative, and customercentric marketing strategies and tactics.

The use of social networks is inevitable in work environments. Research findings show the effect of social media on employee job performance (Pavithra and Deepak, 2021). This research aims to understand the impact of the use of social networks and digital competences on the job performance of women executives in the tourism sector. With data obtained from women in this sector, a study and analysis of the factors versatility in use, concerns or fears, and use at work, was carried out to evaluate job performance and the incidence of digital competences. The methodology used was Partial Least Squares structural equation models (PLS-SEM) with the purpose of verifying the theoretical model related to job performance, which is explained through digital competence, versatility, concerns, and uses of social networks. The main contribution of the study lies in the approach to understanding job performance, specifically of women executives, who faced different challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, taking advantage of social networks to improve their activities.

For more than a decade, digital media and social networks have been gaining ground within the field of historians. Particularly, for those investigations that use tools from oral history, the use of social networks can lead to a new way of searching for sources. Thus, for example, if we are looking for testimonies about events not too far away in time, Facebook, Twitter or Instagram can give us clues about the location of the people we want to interview or open a channel of communication and exchange between the interviewer and the interviewee. The objective of this article is to share our experience on the search and discovery of new testimonies hostilities in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, belonging to the conscript soldiers mobilized on the occasion of the Beagle Conflict between Argentina and Chile in the year 1978, at which time both countries were ready for the start of. Likewise, we intend to test the hypothesis that, in the experiences associated with the process of military mobilization in the face of an armed confrontation, different forms of nationalism/s are manifested and expressed.

Oral history has not been sufficiently inclined to recover the memory about childhood and childhood memory, despite the cultural significance that is recognized in this field of research. Notwithstanding that this discipline has become a privileged window to recover the history of the subaltern groups. The purpose of this text is to recreate the childhood experiences between members of several generations of Mexico through oral testimonies. The protagonists of contribute with their stories to illuminate a fragment of childhood history in Mexico.
