This study analyzes undeclared work as a key portion of the shadow economy in the EU-28, with special focus on its incidence, dynamics, structure, differences across countries and underlying determinants. To this end, linear regression and binary discrete choice models are applied to microdata drawn from 2 special Eurobarometers which are designed to explore undeclared work phenomenon in the years 2007 and 2013. Our results stress the importance of (i) the individual assessment of irregular and individualistic behaviours; (ii) the perceived risk of being detected undertaking paid undeclared work; (iii) the occupation; and (iv) the aggregated conditions, as determinants of undeclared work. The implications of these results for the existing policy options for dealing with the shadow economy are also discussed.

Residential movements towards metropolitan inner cities are movements which have been paid little attention to, despite the key role that they play in the incipient stages, as well as in the more advanced, of metropolitan development. Moreover, when they have been studied they have tended to be understood as unique, undifferentiated reality. This work, using census data from 1991 and 2011, and based on a complex delimitation of the Andalusian metropolitan areas, contributes to the differentiation and conceptualization of centralization movements, proving two fundamental facts: first, that the role played by these movements in different stages of metropolitan development is different, and second, that their characteristics, and therefore their consequences in the transformation of the city, differ substantially according to the greater or lesser integration in the metropolitan processes of their origin’s zones.

The attention and care to the environment is an agreed and consensus worry and, apart from generational interests, probably it is because it belongs to everyone, it affects to everyone and it concerns to everyone. The citizenship usually receives with claimed enthusiasm and they answer positively to the initiatives that promote good environmental behaviors. However, this good theoretical predisposition weakens on having known the expenses associated with the recovery and maintenance of the environment, especially when the citizens become aware of the direct repercussion for their pocket. This work reveals the discrepancy between the environmental worry and the money they are willing to pay to relieve the above-mentioned worry. It tries to put price to the environmental concern and for these reasons the take references from the Andalusian population. With the analysis of the information provided by the Andalusian Ecobarometer (EBA) and the Social Reality Survey in Andalusia (ERSA) we could observe the limited materialization in Euros of the high environmental worry, finding that the analyzed population is very far from preaching with the example and that it gives a void value to his environmental conscience. We have also made the analysis separately for different sex finding unlikeness by gender, that, even if they are small, they ought to be mentioned.

The Portmán Bay, Southeast Iberian Peninsula, is home to one of the largest environmental disasters on the Mediterranean coast: the silting of the bay caused by the dumping of million tonnes of mining waste to the sea, over more than thirty years. The analysis of the values of the surroundings, and the assessment of the potential for the development of the bay arises with the aim of obtaining alternatives for planning a sustainable local development and respectful with the environment. Two phases of analysis have been carried out: the first through a partial, more detailed, study; followed by a second phase of analysis, with an overall assessment of land uses to determine the constraints and development opportunities of the surroundings of Portmán. The integral analysis provides a vision of the space as a whole, and allows defining territorial categories in relation to possible developments in the form of residential and tourism projects, which are defined as: limitations, main constraints and additional constraints.
