Since the middle of the last century the river areas of Andalusia have undergone a process of degradation. This paper presents a historical and multiscale approach of the spatial distribution of river areas by using the land cover maps. At regional level, evidence of that Andalusia has lost a tenth of river areas over the last six decades. Secondly, analyzed of two local paradigmatic cases (Guadalmina river and Guadalquivir river) that can be extended to the rest of territory. The effort for the management of river areas has not been reflected in the results, being the interrelationships between water and land management (regional, sub regional and municipal) still an unresolved issue.

The incorporation of the territorial perspective into the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP), through the delimitation of fishing areas and the creation of Fishery Local Action Groups (FLAGs), has allowed the decentralized management Axis 4 of the European Fisheries Fund (EFF) through the application of the LEADER method in this sectoral policy. The present study brings together the research of five case study regions (including Portugal) and their FLAGs in the period 2007-2013. Based on the analysis of each participatory local development strategy (LDS) and measures financed, there are different responses to the experience: misalignment and lack of cohesion between projects, excessive dependence on local power, and, in contrast, very meritorious actions and impact both in the fisheries sector and in the sustainable development of the coastal communities.

The territory of Bardenas de Navarrais one of the most original and uncommon inEurope. The structural tabular topography of the Tertiary age has been sculpted mostly into badlands in climatic conditions of low and concentrated rainfall, severe temperatures both in winter as in summer and persistent winds. This environmental context configures a steppe-type vegetal landscape reminiscent of arid or semi-arid areas. It is that interest that leads us to characterize and to assess its vegetal landscape using the LANBIOEVA methodology. This method is applied, in a systematic manner, to those vegetal landscapes in order to obtain the data about each assessment criterion and these to be compared with other data obtained for over twenty years in other formations and areas at a global level. The Aleppo pine forest (Pinus halepensis) stands out for its high values and also does, especially, oak woods (Quercus rotundifolia). The lowest scores are recorded for the Kermes (Quercus coccifera).

The proliferation of Illegal landfills (IL) has negative impacts on the environment and the economy, especially in both, ecological sensitive and touristic areas. This work focuses on the characterization of illegal landfills located in La Palma Island. 153 IL were obtained through field work and the visual interpretation of digital ortho-images at a spatial resolution 0.5 m for 2012 and 2015. This information was included within a geospatial database together with a set of 150 potential explanatory features of different typology: type of waste, surveillance and control, socioeconomics, accessibility, distance to elements of interest, visibility and terrain features. Multivariate analyses such as exploratory analysis (EA), factor analysis (FA) and discriminant analysis (DA) were applied to assess the degree of association between the explanatory features and the IL occurrence. AF explained a cumulative variance of 82.34% considering 7 factors (Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin test: 0.71). AD showed a canonical correlation of 0.78. AD leaded to discriminating between affected areas and non-affected areas using features such as: population density, slope, Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) or distance to agricultural areas or distance to urban centers. Additionally, AF identified the former features as the main drivers of IV occurrence.

The scientific production, which focused on the study of the main territorial and socioeconomic issues of the Spanish High-speed rail network, is analyzed in depth. This research aims to understand its evolution and designated topics. The results, classified by disciplines, support the hypothesis that in Spain the relationship between High-speed rail and tourism has yet to be thoroughly studied, despite its scientific and political interest. For this reason, future research must tackle a variety of questions which must be addressed through a collaboration of experts from different areas that contribute to different perspectives and methodologies.

The aim of this work is to describe the situation of nautical tourism in one of the largest islands in the Mediterranean through the analysis of the marinas and the sailing habits of the boaters. After outlining the typology, characteristics and functions of the marinas in the introduction, we briefly present the quantitative-qualitative analysis methodology that was carried out through interviews to the stakeholders and subsequent processing of the original information obtained. The presentation of the results concerns the context of Italian ports and then focuses on Sardinia in terms of ports and berths. The discussion, on the other hand, is based on the original analysis of the use of Sardinian ports, the navigation mode of the boaters, including the characteristics of the boats used. In the conclusions, it is emphasized that Sardinia is at the centre of a boating area that extends to the Upper Tyrrhenian Sea, within which it represents a hub and the favourite area for the most important and rich segment of yachts. This, however, does not preclude existing structures from pursuing an improvement in the supply from the point of view of environmental compatibility, of the quality of the services offered and, above all, of a stronger connection to the tourist offer of the hinterlands.A possible development of the present study may cover other similar cases in the Mediterranean, regarding in particular the specific aspect of the degree of openness towards the boaters coming from "continental" territories.

This work analyzes the importance of landscape and patrimonial resources as a strategy for local development in interior spaces with little tourism activity, deepens the image of the landscape as a tourism product and proposes actions that will promote new sources of wealth and employment as well as paralysis of the threats that could contribute to the disappearance of these inherited cultural landscapes with a significant identity character. Through the SWOT methodology, the importance of actions and policies that address sustainability as a guarantee for a territorial balance that contemplates environmental preservation, economic viability and social equity in the development of benefits for the entire municipality and its area of influence.

Between 2008 and 2016, more than 80,000 stores were closed in Spain. The economic crisis reduced credit and society was forced to redirect their cravings for consumption. The closure of establishments affected in a different way the neighborhood shops, the shopping centers, or the emblematic axes of each city. At the same time, e-commerce experienced strong and sustained growth, especially in the territories with the highest economic level, surpassing in each year the percentage of the population that used different devices to buy online something that before was bought in a store. This paper studies the situation of retail in Spain in 2016 and the changes in the consumption mode of its inhabitants caused by the economic crisis.

The Itinerant University of the Sea was created in 2006 by the universities of Oviedo, Porto and the Naval School of Lisbon, to provide a training experience that has as its horizon to awake the mind of the young people and not sleep it, using the sea as a way and a ship of instruction as a tool in order to extend the personal skills of the participants, by applying the phrase "knowledge and adventure" as a basic descriptor of the teaching of geography. Here we explain why, how and what it does.
