This article deals with Carl Schmitt’s antagonistic concept of the political and the political theory of Ernesto Laclau. First, it offers a critique of the literature on the supposed reception of Schmitt's thought in Laclau, in relation to his notions of antagonism, representation, unanimity, and identification. Second, it reconstructs and compares the arguments of the two authors about the enemy, the reference to the people as a political subject and the existential character of the political. Without claiming to elaborate an exhaustive analysis that would exceed the space available here, we point out that throughout his career Laclau ignored Schmitt (with the exception of an article dealing with the war) and that, although Schmitt was not an intellectual influence in Laclau, there are some similarities in their theoretical models.

A tendency to approach the past from the interpretative framework of memory at the expense of the classical historiographical approach emerged during the last decade of the 20th century in Western societies. This phenomenon was called memory boom and its raison d’être was related, on the one hand, to the belated acceptance of the survival of traumatic memories in all the subjects involved in regimes or episodes of perpetration of mass violence.

This paper proposes to bring together Literature and Philosophy in a didactic mechanism to stimulate the practice of Philosophy through the reading and writing of stories. It is articulated (with the postulates of constructivism) around doing Philosophy, not just observing it from the outside. It starts from two premises: 1) the modern short story functions as a philosophical question, as a presenter of the great philosophical themes, but 2) it avoids the temptation of an explicit explanation, which is elided, so that it is the reader who ends up giving it a definitive form, participating in the construction of its meaning.

This paper will approach the New Realism, a philosophical movement which is little by little gaining popularity. First, a brief analysis of its origin will be made. Next, it will focus on four of the main theories of this movement, the ones from: Quentin Meillassoux, Graham Harman, Maurizio Ferraris and Markus Gabriel. The reason of doing that is to find the similarities and differences between all of them, in order to stablish a more accurate classification inside the New Realism.

This article pretend that the reader has a closer look to thinking of Javier Hernández-Pacheco, the philosopher of the last few years. He has a very interesting vision about Christianity, specifically The Catholic Church Dogma and the Gospel. Through his view, we go from how he understands the Paradise, sin (and sinner), resurrection, and we go back to Paradise.

A dialogue between Kafka’s «Before the Law» and Roth’s The Legend of the Holy Drinker, two stories that almost literally coincide with the entre–deux–guerre period, suggests a comparison of interpretations where authors such as Benjamin, Arendt, Mann, Scholem, Adorno, Steiner or Magris have taken part. In the context of the twenties and the thirties these and other stories by the same authors display a question about justice which in the hands of thinkers like Hugo Bergmann, Frank Rosenzweig, and Martin Buber triggered a rethinking of Central European Judaism, today almost forgotten, that nevertheless witnesses not only the crisis of Hebrew but also of European culture.
