Being a peculiar thinker and understood as an out-sider, Lev Shestov is the creator of a genuine philosophy that comes to break thought to rebuild; that is to say, to lay the foundations of a philosophy with a tragic meaning that is opposed to all speculative and positivist thinking. The roots of this philosophy are found in the writing of Kierkegaard, among others. The Danish philosopher is a tormenting thinker who represents a decisive moment for his creation, because he returns to Shestov the hope that his philosophy of tragedy finds a basis in the existential philosophy The main focus in this article is to underline what Lev Shestov discovers reading Kierkegaard's work to support the development of the meaning of what he will call the philosophy of tragedy, or existential philosophy; a philosophy that is born in despair, in repetition, in the second dimension of thought; in anguish, in faith, and in revelation.

The objective of this paper is to promote a new humanity after the dramatic experience of Covid-19. With a methodology that deconstructs some philosophical considerations about the pandemic, the result, that it is necessary the reconstruction of values and attitudes that lead to cooperation and recognition, is reached if a significant humanization of people, societies and cultures wants to be achieved. In this way, it is concluded that a human revolution is urgently needed that goes hand in hand with Philosophy, thanks to which dialogue, communicative rationality, intersubjectivity and the collective are revalued together with simplicity and everyday life.

In this paper we explore the way in which the scene of parricide in Totem and Taboo has influenced Derrida’s understanding of the origin and preservation of the Law. We refer first to his essay “Préjugés”, in which Derrida studies parricide as an event which takes place and doesn’t take place at the same time, making possible a founding of the Law upon a fiction and a simulacrum. Then, we turn towards the Seminar on the Death Penalty, where Derrida identifies the Father and the death row prisoner, and studies the way in which the repetition of execution (especially the sovereign’s execution) constitutes the Law.

In this paper we intend to make explicit the double meaning that the concept of recognition presents in the psychosocial theory of the self that G. H. Mead exposes in his fundamental text Mind, Self and Society (1962). The underlying thesis is that this distinction points, in turn, to a double form of realization of the individual, thanks to which he becomes a subject recognized as a bearer of rights in the whole of the community to which he belongs (socialization ), and as an individual owner of a peculiarity or functional superiority that is recognized in the process of relating to others (individuation). A final conclusion reveals the model of society that underlies this distinction in Mead's approach.

This paper analyses the relationship between History and Identity, taking as starting point some common concepts in Ibn Khaldun´s and Hegel´s philosophical works.  In the introduction, I first explain some of the main concepts from the Philosophy of History, particularly those which are related to the question of the cause of History; secondly, I address Ibn Khaldun´s reflexion on different types of civilizations and the dialectical nature of their reciprocal relationships; thirdly, I analyse Hegel´s concept of History as realisation of the Spirit; lastly, I reflect on both thinkers´ contribution to the understanding of the meaning of History as the battlefield of human identity.
