Resumen
The violent events of recent years have shown, on a global scale, how alienating our present experience of time is. Current trends in critical theory and other historical-sociological approaches insist on the devouring pace of acceleration (P. Virilio; H. Rosa) and on the temporal reconfiguration based on “presentism” (Koselleck; F. Hartog). However, we know that these questions are far from being completely new, and that they already worried philosophers in the first half of the 20th century. The recent publication of the latest writings on the Ereignis and the Black Notebooks, written in the 1930s and 1940s, allows us to access an original reflection on what Heidegger names machination [Machenschaft]. In this paper, we would like to analyze the way in which, based on fabrication, we should consider the meaning of our intimate temporal experience in the face of the modern situation. More specifically, we will delve into the ways in which the primacy of manufacturing functions as a closure of possibilities, preventing something truly “historical” from happening.

Resumen
The problem of evil is one of the most difficult and complex challenges for the philosophy of all times and places. The experience of pain, so present in human life, involves a true unknown also for phenomenology. Considering its mysterious nature, several authors have spoken about it, including the phenomenologists Paul Ricoeur, Emmanuel Lévinas and Jean-Luc Marion. Taking on account priority features of the nouvelle phénoménologie, we present an approach to the hermeneutical analysis that these authors carry out around the mystery of iniquity. Furthermore, their contributions manifest possibilities and limits for philosophy and theology, insofar as said theme becomes central in the approach to the meaning of being and reality itself.

Resumen
The paper is a fine-tuning of an author’s previous paper, which was published in Spanish in a French journal, and was barely distributed in Spain. The fundamental thing about this is, in addition to clarifying some aspects of that one, to draw the moral consequences that derive from it. The first section insists on the phenomenological rupture of the gap between sensitivity and understanding to the extent that the latter lives on sensitivity. In the second, the rupture with all medieval residue in the word “transcendental” is clarified by resorting to animal transcendentality, what is called the “prophylactic” character of the paper. In the third, which includes the heart of the essay, it is exposed how the objective fields that are analyzed in Husserl’s Ideas II, including animals, from being constituted objects become co-constituent subjects. Finally, in the last section, the scope of what Husserl calls intentional articulation (of animality and humanity), and which I call “transcendental”, internal and external articulation, by which we are included in the total intersubjectivity of life is considered, by which our responsibility towards animal life becomes clear.

Resumen
Starting from the apparently contradictory expression “nostalgia for the future”, in this article we delve into the analysis of the complex net of temporal tensions that underlie human experience, specifically under the colouring of the nostalgic mood. We will try to analyse the interdependence relations that the different temporal horizons keep, specifically in the nostalgic experience and in the original experience to which it refers and which is a matter of evocation. In this context, we will accentuate the role of expectations, and their influence on the “future” emergence of nostalgic mood, a role that, even when they act preconsciously, is essential to understand the sense of loss of familiarity felt by those who see such pretensions unfulfilled.

Resumen
In this article I analyze the dialogue between the Schutzian developments on the phenomenology of power proposed by Jochen Dreher and the socio-anthropological approach on habitus and symbolic power of Pierre Bourdieu. Dreher points out that it is possible to find in Bourdieu’s perspective “key points” for a phenomenology of power. However, when criticizing the static character of the notion of habitus, he chooses for Schutz’s theory of relevance, which, unlike Bourdieu´s proposal, gives central place to the subjective perspective of the individual actor. In this paper I will show the limits of this critique by comparing it with Bourdieu’s developments on cleft/tormented habitus, reflexivity/socioanalysis and counter-training of the body. As a contribution to the phenomenology of power, I will propose an alternative reading of Bourdieu’s notion of habitus based on Merleau-Ponty, put to work in an empirical investigation on upper-class schools

Resumen
In this paper I examine the paradox of human subjectivity in light of the tension between two forms of approaching subjectivity (as transcendental subject or as empirical being) along with two other paradoxes that, I will argue, are also the expression of the larger tension between first-personal and third-personal accounts of experience. One is the “crazy paradox” Merleau-Ponty points to in his analyses of Husserl’s reflection on the notion of Earth as ground in the text “The originary ark, the Earth, does not move”. The other is the paradox of death, that consists of the contradictory understanding of my own death as being certain yet unconstitutable. I present a brief description of Husserl’s developments on death and argue that its peculiarities present a challenge for the phenomenological method as a whole, and for the distinction between transcendental subjectivity and the empirical human being; then I offer a preliminary analysis of the Merleau-Pontian diagnosis of Husserl’s philosophy as well as Merleau-Ponty’s own way out of the paradox, and point out some of its insufficiencies.

Resumen
This article examines the phenomenology developed by the Chilean philosopher Jorge Eduardo Rivera (1927-2017). First, some general characteristics of Rivera’s philosophy are highlighted. Then, the Heideggerian proposal of a hermeneutical turn of the Husserlian phenomenology formulated by Rivera is judged, focusing especially on the interpretation offered by Husserl and on other possibilities offered by the phenomenology. Thirdly, the university conception of Rivera’s philosophy is shown, and his identification of the dangers that lie in wait for universities, then suggesting other forms of university threats and other phenomenological alternatives to conceive the current university.

Abstract
The purpose of this article is to report a research conducted to describe strengths and weaknesses found in the new English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program (English I) of the Modern Languages degree at Universidad Metropolitana (Caracas). This is a descriptive, cross-sectional, and mixed-designed research, structured in two phases: firstly, the sample consisted of fifty-two (52) students and four (4) key informants, professors from the Linguistics Department. A questionnaire and an interview were applied to collect the data. Secondly, a research hypothesis was proposed in order to confirm the incidence of the new English I program (EAP) in the academic standing of the students. Twenty-five (25) strengths and (13) thirteen weaknesses were found among the dimensions of the program. The proposed hypothesis was confirmed: the new program does affect the academic standing of the students in the aforementioned subject.
Keywords: academic standing; English for Academic Purposes; program, strengths, weaknesses.
