Introducción: la COVID-19 y las medidas generadas para proteger a los adultos mayores han marcado mucho más la vulnerabilidad de este grupo, incrementando factores de riesgos psicosociales como la desvinculación, el maltrato, la ansiedad, lo que demandó examinar patrones de vejez exitosa que generan y garantizan salud mental en personas de esta edad. Objetivo: caracterizar aquellos indicadores de una vejez exitosa que promueven salud mental, a través de su expresión concreta en un paciente. Método: enfoque cualitativo, privilegiando el estudio de caso único de carácter crítico. Para evaluar los criterios de salud mental y vulnerabilidad, se utilizó una entrevista semiestructurada. Para la caracterización de la vejez se trabajó con método biográfico y la técnica de historia de vida durante los meses de agosto a noviembre de 2021. Resultados: se identificaron criterios de vulnerabilidad como la viudez y la soledad, pero predominaron fortalezas a nivel individual, micro y macrosocial, lo que se consolida con un estado mental saludable que se expresó en evidente funcionamiento y bienestar psicológico. Se presentaron en la paciente, todos los indicadores de vejez exitosa que se definieron, garantizando el tránsito satisfactorio por la etapa. Conclusiones: la paciente con una vejez exitosa posee redes de integración, activación y trascendencia que le permiten reestructurar su campo de acción en un contexto como el que ha implicado la COVID-19, garantizando autovaloración y sentido de vida, expresados de forma desarrolladoras para favorecer su salud mental y su desarrollo psicológico.

Introduction: aggression in the child-juvenile stage is a problem that has a significant impact on most countries. It is frequent in school children, so it is necessary to have valid and reliable instruments that allow its evaluation. Objective: to validate Little's aggressiveness scale in Cuban schoolchildren from the municipality of Santa Clara, Villa Clara, Cuba.Method: a quantitative paradigm with a non-experimental design and an instrumental type of study was assumed. A stratified probabilistic sampling was used by means of a random selection. The sample was made up of 266 schoolchildren from the Santa Clara municipality, out of a universe of 21,106 schoolchildren. Descriptive data analysis techniques were essentially used, in particular frequencies, as well as classical descriptive statistics and inferential techniques (Cronbach's alpha, Pearson's correlation coefficient, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis). Results: a coherent factorial structure of 4 factors with adequate goodness-of-fit indices was obtained. It did not correspond to the proposal of the authors of the original version. Conclusions: the reliability and validity of Little's aggressiveness scale is corroborated, as well as the feasibility of its application to evaluate the construct in Cuban school children.

Introduction: at present, one of the world's problems it is the health situation. Cuba is not an exception, and the behavior of infestation due to the new outbreak of COVID-19 that is occurring at national level is a great concern.Objective: to provide some didactic and pedagogical reflections as part of an adequate school environment that make possible the correct preparation of faculty to teach students in health knowledge and thus mitigating the progressive spread of COVID-19. Method: it was conducted a research at the Universidad de Guantánamo, Universidad de Ciencias Médicas de Guantánamo, and the Instituto Politécnico Agrícola de Yateras, from April 2020 throughout January 2021. A total of 30 professors and 30 students (as universe) were involved in this research (10 of each institution). The main variable used was the level of preparation of faculty in school environment and health education. Results: the indicators obtained made it possible to develop the measurement instruments. A qualitative data analysis was made attending to: data reduction, layout and transformation data, as well as the obtained outcomes and conclusions verified. Conclusions: the didactic and pedagogical reflections offered are materialized in a set of guidelines with a methodological approach that guide faculty staff and help to create a positive school environment to strengthen students' health education, based on an exhaustive analysis of the components in the teaching process.

Introducción: la lesión de furcación se define como la reabsorción patológica del hueso interradicular, con la consiguiente exposición de la furca, el aumento del riesgo de pérdida ósea y la aparición de defectos óseos difíciles de tratar, los que pueden mejorar con el uso de membranas a través de la regeneración tisular guiada. Objetivo: determinar la efectividad de la regeneración tisular guiada en lesiones de furca dentarias mandibulares en la Clínica Estomatológica Provincial "Mártires del Moncada", de Santiago de Cuba, durante el periodo septiembre de 2018 a diciembre de 2019. Método: se realizó un estudio cuasi-experimental de intervención terapéutica con una muestra de 20 pacientes con lesiones de furca mandibulares, seleccionados por muestreo no probabilístico intencional. Se conformaron 2 grupos aleatorios por orden de llegada de 10 pacientes cada uno. Un grupo estudio recibió la terapia regenerativa y un grupo control fue tratado de forma convencional. Ambos, cumplieron con el criterio diagnóstico y fueron examinados antes y después de los tratamientos a los 6 meses y al año. Resultados: al evaluar al año de tratamiento, en el grupo I, el sangrado desapareció y la profundidad al sondaje disminuyó al menos 1 mm en el 100 % de los casos, la ganancia de inserción tipo I se logró en el 60 % de ellos, con marcada superioridad sobre el grupo control. Conclusiones: el tratamiento con regeneración tisular guiada demuestra ser efectivo en los pacientes tratados con lesión de furcación a diferencia del tratamiento convencional.

Introduction: professional ethics allows for characterization of the human behavior from an affirmative or negative perspective in which the ethical and social values make possible a more effective relationship among dentists and their professional environment.Objective: to identify the level of satisfaction in patients treated in both dental offices, "Centro Odontológico Integral" manages by Dr. Guillermo Méndez and "Design Dental" manages by Dr. Freddy Santillán, in Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, Ecuador. Method: a cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out with the use of a questionnaire to 44 patients of these dental offices; the variables analyzed were as follow: interpersonal relationship satisfaction, patient satisfaction with quality of care, evaluation scale on dental care and ideal waiting time in the office after receiving dental treatment. Results: the 89% of respondents perceived a friendly and favorable relationship with dentists. Concerning patients’ satisfaction on quality of care, 41% considered that they had created an interpersonal relationship with their dentist, but the other 59% expressed the opposite. As for the evaluation of dental care, 64% gave it a maximum of 10 points. Twenty-five percent of the patients agreed that the ideal waiting time for consultation should be 20 minutes and another high percentage, 48%, considered that the ideal waiting time should be 30 minutes. Conclusions: more than half of patients reported that they were satisfied with the treatment provided by dentists.

Introduction: the temporomandibular disorders constitute an important health problem in Cuba. Today, it´s well known that the psychosocial factors play an important role in it, especially, with regard to pain adaptation and recovery. Objective: identification of the relationship between temporomandibular disorders and different levels of anxiety in patients belonging to the Family Medical Clinic No. 10 located at the Northern Area of the Sancti Spíritus province, Cuba, during the period January 2019 to January 2020. Methods: an analytical observational study of case-control type was carried out. The population was comprised of 109 patients. The sample consisted of 80 patients distributed in 40 cases and 40 controls. The variables studied were at following: age, sex, temporomandibular disorders, signs and symptoms, anxiety. Temporomandibular disorders were diagnosed through the Helkimo Index and anxiety through the application of the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI). The Chi-squared statistical association test was applied.Results: female patients were predominant (55%) and 51.25% were in the age range of 40-59 years. The most frequent signs and symptoms in patients with temporomandibular disorders were pain in the temporomandibular joints and in muscles of mastication for 85 % and 80 %, respectively. Most of the cases (52.5 %) presented high levels of anxiety. Conclusions: the different levels of anxiety predisposed to the origin and maintenance of temporomandibular disorders in all the patients studied.

Introduction: Camphenol Plus is a chlorophenolic derivative commonly used as an intra – duct medication for pulporadicular treatments in Dentistry. Scientific reports about the use of this medication on the role of potassium ion channels in the contractile dynamics of induced arterial smooth muscle are low. Objective: to determine the role of potassium ion channels in the contractile dynamics of Camphenol Plus - induced arterial smooth muscle. Method: a preclinical experimental investigation was performed at the "Oscar Langerdorff" Institute of Physiology, Rostock University Medical Center, Rostock, Germany, between October and December 2018. A total of 30 aortic rings obtained from 10 Wistar rats (n=10) were used. The biological preparations were placed in an organ bath and preactivated with Krebs solution concentrated in potassium ions, afterwards it was recorded the tension developed by the vascular smooth muscle after applying the Camphenol Plus solutions in different time intervals. The Mann-Whitney U test and Wilcoxon test were applied.Results: the 31.4% of vascular smooth muscle was relaxed by the effect of Camphenol Plus after preactivation with Krebs solution concentrated in potassium ions. The greatest decrease in vascular tone occurred between the first and third minutes after the use of the drug solutions prepared at 7 %. Conclusions: the in vitro vasorelaxant effect produced by the Camphenol Plus medication on arterial smooth muscle is mediated by the potassium ion channels sensitive to voltage, calcium and the adenosine triphosphate of the vascular endothelium and sarcolemma.

El programa de la Maestría en Ciencias de la Educación da respuesta a las necesidades de diversas instituciones del sector de la educación y de organismos formadores con los que se articula, al contribuir a desarrollar en sus profesionales, habilidades científico-investigativas para el perfeccionamiento de las políticas educacionales y socioculturales en el territorio, particularmente, el perfeccionamiento educacional.De 29 trabajos presentados fueron 21 los seleccionados, distribuidos de la siguiente manera: 6 Artículos Originales, 13 Trabajos Pedagógicos y 2 Revisiones Bibliográficas.En la elaboración de estos se contó con la participación de 55 autores afiliados a 11 instituciones de la provincia sede: Guantánamo.
