Introduction: A common pathology in the Neurosurgery Service is chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH), affecting elderly male patients. It is an accumulation of blood that is located in the subdural space that can occur spontaneously or be the result of a head injury or other pathologies such as high blood pressure (HBP), type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM2), alcoholism, or external factors such as head trauma (CT) and consumption of platelet antiaggregants. Objective: To determine how predisposing factors are associated with CSDH in adults and older adults treated at the Neurosurgery and Geriatrics Service at the María Auxiliadora Hospital (HMA) in 2016-2020. Methods:An analytical, observational, retrospective study of cases and controls was carried out through data collection from medical records. Results: Association was found with age 60 to 96 years (adjusted OR = 2,52; 95% CI: 1,43 - 4,80), male gender (adjusted OR = 4,10; 95% CI: 2,30 - 7,60), alcohol consumption (adjusted OR = 3,06; 95% CI: 1,06– 8,83), hypertension (adjusted OR = 2,51; 95% CI: 1,16– 5,43), DM2 ( Adjusted OR = 2,49; 95% CI: 1,03–6,01) and CT (adjusted OR = 3,35; 95% CI: 1,87– 6,03). Conclusions: The sociodemographic factors age and sex are associated with HSDC. Alcohol consumption, hypertension, DM2, and history of TC are associated with HSDC.

OBJECTIVE: To determine the factors associated with anxiety in medical interns at a private university in the context of the covid-19 pandemic. METHODS: The study design is quantitative, observational, analytical, retrospective, cross-sectional. The sample was comprised of 343 human medicine interns, who were selected by a non-probabilistic snowball type sampling. The Coronavirus Anxiety Scale instrument was used for the diagnosis of anxiety. A Poisson regression model with robust bivariate and multiple variances was used to calculate the prevalence ratio and their respective 95% confidence intervals. RESULTS: The prevalence of anxiety and severe depressive symptoms of 22.74% and 6.71% respectively was found. Depressive symptoms RPa 3.274 (95% CI 1.06 - 10.09), having children RPa 2.61 (95% CI 1.26 - 5.38), and the diagnosis of COVID-19 in the last 12 months RPa 2.20 (95% CI 1.25 - 3.87) were associated with the presence of anxiety in the multiple regression model. CONCLUSIONS: The presence of severe depressive symptoms, having children, the diagnosis of covid-19 in the last 12 months are associated with the diagnosis of anxiety in medical interns at a private university in Lima, 2021.

In the past decade, levels of coverage on children vaccination had been decreasing nationwide, even more in the Peruvian jungle, reason why is an important public health’s subject to attend. The purpose of this investigation was to analyze maternal and social factors that are associated with incomplete vaccination schedules on children under 5 years old on the Peruvian jungle. It is an observational, analytic investigation, using a secondary source from the Demographic and Family survey (ENDES) from 2019, where is found the information of all the under 5 years old with the healthcare card of oral information given by the mother. Then after selecting the chosen variables, we used the SPSS statistic program for the posterior analysis. Of the 4373 surveys studied; it was shown that 57.5% of children under 5 years have the incomplete vaccination schedule. The multivariate analysis found that non-compliance with the vaccination schedule associated with maternal and social factors such as not having health insurance (ORa 1.72; p<0.01, IC95% 1.39-2,13), poverty (ORa-1,427, p<0.01, IC95% 1.89-1.71), native mother tongue (ORa-1.50, p<0.01, IC-1.13-2,0), problems attending the health center (ORa-1,213, p=0.02, IC95% 1.02-1.44), live outside the city (ORa-1.31, p<0.01, IC95% 1.09- 1.58), age under the age of 24 as a mother/guardian (ORa-1.38, p<0.01, IC95% 1,186-1,619). Not having health insurance, living in poverty, having trouble going to the health center, living outside the city, having a different mother tongue than Spanish and age under 24 are factors associated with non-compliance with the vaccination schedule.

The report of critical values is considered a necessary practice in clinical pathology laboratories, since its immediate communication determines therapeutic decisions that can save lives. The choice of critical values and the way in which they are reported must be a joint decision between the laboratory specialists and the clinical professionals of each health facility, since they must be integrated into the dynamics of the services involved. Among the critical values that have been chosen for this review, we have included quantitative parameters, whose processing is carried out in automated hematology analyzers, and morphological findings in peripheral blood smears, which are evaluated by trained professionals.

Ectopic pancreas is an unusual finding, with an incidence below 0.5% of all reports worldwide. We report a 26 years old woman who went to emergency room with abdominal pain and underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The pathology report described pancreatic ectopic tissue in the wall of the gallbladder. This finding must be thoroughly evaluated because this tissue can suffer diseases like pancreatitis, cystic tumours and malign degeneration, and should be considerated in the context of gallbladder polips with digestive sintomatology.

Introduction: Overweight and obesity are rapidly growing in the world, with a higher risk of chronic diseases. Nutritional strategies are of great interest for weight loss and control, such as the influence of meal frequency and timing. Objective: To determine the relationship between the meal frequency and timing with overweight and obesity in the adult population of Trujillo between 30 and 70 years old. Methods: Descriptive, cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach. A sample of 160 participants, between 30 and 70 years old, is included; the data was collected through a virtual survey. Participants were classified into a normal weight group established by a BMI between 18.5-24.9 and an overweight-obese group established by a BMI greater than or equal to 25. An expert-validated questionnaire was produced to assess the meal frequency and timing. Results: Of the 160 participants, 61.88% were female, 40% were between 30-39 years old. The normal weight group was made up of 60 participants; and overweight-obesity, per 100 participants. In the statistical analysis, a significant difference was evidenced between the level of low-moderate physical activity (p = 0.019), the meal frequency did not present a significant difference (p = 0.477) and within the meal timing, the consumption of subsequent dinner at 8:00 pm showed a significant difference (p = 0.021), as well as the consumption of intermediates after 5:00 pm (p = 0.016), Conclusion: Consuming food during the night in a time after 8:00 pm is significantly associated with the risk of overweight and obesity; while in the meal frequency it does not appear.
