Within sustainable urban mobility guidelines, pedestrian mode plays a key role, as part or totality of any journey, due to its low environmental impact and affordability. However, pedestrians are often not considered when analyzing mobility patterns. Urban projects tend to focus on mass transport and urban infrastructure, creating urban barriers and penalizing the pedestrian mode. This article develops a method for assessing the impact of urban design on pedestrian travel. To do so, it proposes to evaluate the interaction between urban form and pedestrian mobility through two concepts: the "urban barrier", understood as an obstacle that affects walking, and "deviation", defined as the intensity of the barrier. An analysis applied to Buenos Aires to detect these urban barriers is done using open and cartographic data. Solutions to improve the pedestrian experience are delivered, highlighting various aspects of urban design such as accessibility, proximity, legibility and complexity.

Resumen
The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the need for new approaches to the urban environment. Among them, physical distancing is intended to minimize contagion and safeguard general welfare. In the present research, a simulated model was designed to identify close contacts during pedestrian traffic in specific urban activities such as a trade fair. This research type was applied and of quasi-experimental design, a parametric simulation model based on intelligent agents was developed at the micro level in urban trade fair scenarios. Initially, theoretical trade fair configurations were compared, considering the shape of the walkable space and the arrangement of trade stands. Then, a manipulation of particular parameters is performed, among them, the probability of making a stall visible and the probability of stopping in case of direct contact or collision. Finally, the results were compared using statistical correlations, the PerMANOVA test, Games-Howell and the graphical analysis of the micro-simulated pedestrian behaviors by the developed model. It is concluded that the model is valid for theoretical pedestrian traffic models for the five simulated urban fairground scenarios.

Resumen
In Mexico City, the BRT type Mass Transit System called Metrobus was recently included to other modes of transportation, where the technological factor was added as a basis to improve the efficiency of transportation in general. However, intelligent mobility should not only be evaluated from a technocentric approach, but also from the usercentric approach. In this context, the aim of this article is to analyze, from the conceptual framework of smart mobility, whether information and communication technologies (ICT) are contributing to the construction of public value, understood as the value derived from a public policy that satisfies a social need. In this sense, the case study explores the public value of technologies to improve the mobility of users of Metrobus line 1 in Mexico City. The exploratory research used a mixed methodology and included quantitative data collection techniques such as the application of a probabilistic survey and an online survey. Qualitative techniques included participant observation and semi-structured interviews with Metrobus users. The results show the importance of Metrobus users to evaluate and contribute to the value of mobility programs, and reject the idea that technology is the most important thing towards the construction of sustainable mobility.

Resumen
The increase in violence in Latin America has led public institutions to promote citizen participation in the management of insecurity. From the crime prevention approach, subjects and communities mobilize practices in search of protection in their neighborhood environments. An aspect little analyzed by the literature refers to how these practices produce space and what their scope is in cities with high levels of violence. Through a qualitative study based on a case study in 2019, we analyzed, in a situated and ethnographic way, the physical, social, and symbolic production of public space in the Kennedy neighborhood in the city of Tegucigalpa. The data reveal, on the one hand, that insecurity is not only linked to concern about crime and that, on the other hand, but fear of crime has also increased the wall, social isolation, and vigilantism. Paradoxically, phenomena reinforce the factors that facilitate the occurrence of crime and the fear of it. The results show the need to critically reflect on the scope of situational prevention in the Latin American city, while it forces us to rethink the relationship between insecurity/crime / urban planning.

Resumen
A mix of different districts shapes the city of Santiago. By reading Kevin Lynch’s concepts of ‘edge’ and ‘district’ from The image of the city (1960), the district administrative boundaries of Santiago are studied to identify their main characteristics and understand how the urban shape is related to the social processes as a metropolis. A mixture of methods is applied by combining quantitative analysis of the socioeconomic characteristics of these edges with the inhabitants´ perceptions about these district boundaries. The results of crossing this information show it is possible to identify different situations from rigid, precise, and raised edges; to soft, irregular, and low limits; and how they can explain phenomena of urban fragmentation, territorial inequity, and social exclusion. Therefore, it is concluded that from these district edges, it is possible to assess how these areas can contribute or not to achieving more integrated and equitable cities.
