The Modern Movement has left a wide and varied architectural repertoire, clearly visible, in the urban landscape of Havana. Although the specialized literature has addressed certain edges, there are still little explored territories that deserve their study, in order to contribute to achieving a more complete and comprehensive vision of this legacy on a national scale. The research analyzes the residential architecture of four modern neighborhoods of the current Cerro municipality, by identifying features and qualities of their buildings. It was methodologically structured in three stages, which included field work and archiving, and theoretical, empirical, quantitative and qualitative methods were used in combination for the analyses. The study made it possible to demonstrate the coexistence of unique works and serial housing complexes, with high construction and design quality, harmonically conceived for predetermined contexts, that constitute a living testimony of the architecture of the peripheral areas of Havana in the 1950s.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the legality of the rental of furnished real estate through digital platforms. It develops, fundamentally, four factors that lead to conclude its illegality: (i) infringement of the property rights of other co-owners, (ii) commercial exploitation of real estate for residential use, (iii) conduct constituting unfair competition, and (iv) abuse of rights. In particular, it studies how the simultaneous and relevant non-compliance with tax, labor, sectorial, and other legislation, which leaves an offeror in an improved posi- tion, constitutes unfair competition conduct under article 3 of the law on unfair competition. Technological disruption, innovation and new contracting modalities that favor users must be welcomed, but under equal conditions for all competitors or suppliers. Although, as the paper will show, it is an unregulated activity, this does not put it outside the legislation and the legis- lation of similar acts should be applied as in the case of all unnamed contracts.

The present study addresses the central problems in legal interpretation of Chilean universities’ policies and procedures on violence, harassment, and discrimination among students, due to the tension between the welfarist understanding of disciplinary procedures and feminist proposals for protecting victims’ rights. It analyzes the void-for-vagueness is- sues in defining and determining the conducts of violence, harassment, and discrimination; consent in sexual relationships; the scope of the university’s jurisdiction off-campus; and due process guarantees and evidence standard relevant to these policies and procedures.
