In this work I will review some morphological and syntactic properties of naturalmente to link them to the discursive interpretation of this adverb in specific contexts. My main objective is to explain the relevance of the discursive and configurational aspects. I will take into account the presence of the speaker in the structure (Speas/Tenny 2003; Wiltschko/Heim 2014; 2016; Pancheva/Zubizarreta 2019, among others), and the relationships between sentences in the discourse. My thesis is that the adverb reinforces the speaker’s affirmative point of view and can be used as a «natural » justification for his/her pretended reasoning. This interpretation is possible by the properties of the adjective and the structural configuration.

This article works backwards by contextualizing the metaphorical explosion of metaphor, especially in the last century or so, and works back to Plato and Aristotle, who help us to see the outlines of metaphor in relation to poetics, rhetoric, philosophy and politics, as well as the critical and theoretical issues arising subsequently down to the present age, including the views of Zoltán Kövecses, Northrop Frye, Paul Ricoeur, Hegel, Shakespeare, Thomas Aquinas and others. The nub of the matter is whether metaphor helps us get at the core of philosophy, that is truth, justice and beauty, the good life, or whether it deflects and deludes or both. My argument is that they do both for Plato and even for Aristotle, who is less severe on poetry and on poetic mimesis than is Plato. This friction between actual and fictional worlds might be resolved or at least meet in the possible.

The goal of this paper is to analyse the opinion that women writers such as Emilia Pardo Bazán, Blanca de los Ríos, Concepción Saiz Otero and María Lejárraga expressed at the dawn of the twentieth century, in line with the celebration of the III centenary of Don Quixote, on the new data provided by Documentos cervantinos, published by Pérez Pastor in 1897 and 1902, in relation to a very controversial issue: The women of the Cervantes family. These first Cervantist women had to face the fact that Cervantes’ sisters, Andrea and Magdalena, his niece Constanza and even his daughter Isabel were “damas servidas”, i.e., “honest courtesans” as they were styled in their time. We shall clarify what role this circumstance plays in Blanca de los Ríos’ hypotheses about the authorship of Quijote de Avellaneda, what relevance Pardo Bazán gives the discoveries of Pérez Pastor in order to dissent from official Cervantism, and how María Lejárraga and Concepción Saiz Otero reflect on “the angel in the house”, about the “maintained woman”, who contrasts with the modern and independent woman, embodied in the teaching professional that was Saiz Otero herself.

The purpose of this paper is to study to what extent and in what way Ricardo E. Molinari carries out a fusion of Gongorine and Avant-garde components in El pez y el manzana (1929), especially regarding the use of some themes and motifs, as well as language and literary techniques. The originality of the poem is highlighted, which is not an exact copy of Góngora’s style, although it has a strong evocative effect. Molinari creates a peculiar and new Gongorine style, with a voice of his own, incorporating a poetic irrationalism akin to the Avant-garde. This work is contemporary to the Spanish poets who cultivated Ultraism and Surrealism, whom he met personally, after having published El pez y la manzana, during his stay in the 30’s in Spain.

In this work we analyze the treatment of syntax in a corpus of works destined to the teaching of grammar in Colombian schools during the 19th Century. We focus on four issues: 1) the possible distinction between natural and figurative syntax; 2) the concept of regime; 3) the treatment of the cases, and 4) the criteria and terminology used to define sentence units. We will verify that there is an evolution in the grammatical doctrine from the works of the first decades of the century, with a Latinizing tendency and in which the influence of the Academy predominates, until the last, where the influence of Andrés Bello is notable, passing through the grammars of the middle of the century, when, together with the Venezuelan, the figure of Vicente Salvá is considered as a reference.

The goal of this study is to analyse both the use of lo and null object to refer to third person direct objects in an oral corpus of Tzutujil-Spanish bilinguals from the village of Chicacao, Guatemala. The corpus’s direct object marking system is characterized by two variants: a) the use of lo as the only third person direct object pronoun, i.e. as an invariable morph; b) its omission, i.e., the production of a zero morph. We put forward that these changes belong to a pronominal system reorganization process caused by the bilingual situation of the region, and an intense contact with Tzutujil, that has caused an acceleration of the grammaticalization process of the Spanish pronominal system of direct object to an object concordance.

Love was one of Félix Grande’s major concerns during more than three decades of his career, from the short story «Música para mi hijo» (1963) to Sobre el amor y la separación (1996). The aim of this article is to analyze the love theme both in the poems Las Rubáiyátas de Horacio Martín and in the short narrative of the author that was published in books, magazines, and newspapers. For this, the articulation of the relationships between those involved in the love plot and the ideas about love expressed by characters and narrators are examined. It is concluded that love is part of Grande’s poetic universe and that is why it appears in different stages and styles of the author: from his stories a theory emerges that becomes more conscious and explicit, until it turns into a quasi-religious system that tries to explain the power of love over individuals.

The reception of the Libro de Agricultura is examined in the second edition of the Diccionario de Autoridades. The academic review of the first repertoire caused amendments in those agricultural articles that were lemmatized and, as a result of this modification, were incorporated in the Alonso de Herrera’s authority in 1770. Simultaneously, the emptying of the geoponic treaty involved the addition of new entries under his authorization. The microstructural analysis of the amended articles demonstrates their readjustment in the notation, definition and Latin equivalents, as well as in Alonso de Herrera’s authority review to suit the lemmatized senses. The study of contexts that have been put forward, as well as the remodelled ones, after the comparison with the versions of Alonso de Herrera’s book, printed between 1513 and 1768, reveals the preferential use of the first editions to illustrate geoponic technicalities and the alteration of passages, particularly the parenthetical paragraph introduced to contextualize the quote.
