Resumen
Introduction: Female genital mutilation is a violation of human rights of girls and women. Objective: to describe necessary elements related to female genital mutilation. Material and Methods: A literature review of 18 printed and electronic supported scientific materials related to the topic available in Infomed platform’s databases (Pubmed, EBSCO, Hinari, Scielo) was performed, all included in the last five years and using searching describers: female genital mutilation, types, complications, risk factors and prevention. Development: The number of girls and young women at risk of genital mutilation increases in Europe and Africa, it is not possible to establish a single religion; practice regarding female genital mutilation predates Islam and is not common among most Muslims. There are different types of mutilation: I, II, III, IV, depends on the anatomical region. The most significant complications include severe pain, hemorrhage, tetanus, septicemia and psychological. Preventive elements are referred by the health system that reduces its practice. Conclusions: female genital mutilation is one of the most significant fateful techniques, added to it, the internationalism principles of the Cuban doctor, proof that the description of epidemiological components, types, complications of it practice and a social approach of preventive actions, help health workers to revert this conduct.Keywords: female genital mutilation, type, complications, risk factors, prevention.

Resumen
Introduction: The educational and assistance round in the educational-hospital institutions is complex and it is necessary to overcome different goals in the same activity. Objective: To provide a design from current pedagogical conceptions of educational-medical rounds at Ecuadorian university hospitals. Material and Methods: It carried out review of the related bibliography with the pedagogic processes of education in the work of medical formation. Were used the searchers PubMed, Cochrane Library and Google scholar to know, select, built, analyze and give a systematic view of the educational and assistance round in Ecuador, proposing structural and methodological bases, starting from the Cuban’s experience and the own Ecuadorian academic directives. Development: Educational-medical rounds as educational method of labor to obtain excellence must be more inclusive not using only the clinical method, but also clinical and epidemiological method shall be included and where integrated management objectives must be joined, using pedagogical constructional methods, holistic health-disease environment through heuristic participation strategies. Conclusion: The use of a proceeding model on a scientific basis properly structured and based on qualitative educational transformations that interrelate with medical caretaking and management issues where patients are evaluated integrally, provides a systemic approach process to this activity. Introduction: The editorial board of the Revista Habanera de Ciencias Médicas (Havana Journal of Medical Sciences) attempts to enhance its work regarding the selection of the best cases presentations send to Publishing Committee. Objective: To evaluate the methodological a scientific issues of clinical cases presentation issued in the Revista Habanera de Ciencias Médicas since 2010 to 2015. Material and Methods: The authors make a documentary analysis of 50 clinical cases published in the Journal. Formal and contents aspects of the articles published were complemented with authors' criteria and others from the bibliographic references. Results: in 88% of the published articles, their structure fulfills the Editorial board´s requirement. In the 60% the subjacent problem was the uncommonness of the clinical case. In the discussion the diagnostic process was valued only in the 56% and 60% fits adjust to case´s particularity. The diagnostic strategy was deterministic in 72% of the cases reviewed and the conclusions were wrong in 48% of clinical case’s presentations. Conclusions: The methodological and scientists issues of clinical case presentations published in the Revista Habanera de Ciencias Médicas show a prevalence good quality. Shall be fulfilled the accomplishment of the regulations established by the publishing committee, the evidence of the impermanence of the events, the focus of the discussion about the singularity of the presented case and their value, as well as the correspondence of the conclusions with the goal of the presentation. Introduction: Cerebrovascular diseases are cause of impact on lifequality; factors associated with life quality change from one study to another. Objectives: Identify the factors that have influence in the life quality of ictus survivors in their acute phase. Material and Methods: Was performed a transversal-descriptive study of a series of 120 ictus survivors under the condition of early rehabilitation, applying the scales after 10 days of ictus set up. Life quality was evaluated by means of a Cuban’s Life Quality Scale for ictus (ECVI-38)from the acute phase. Results: Women predominated with an average age over 65 years. Neurological affection degree was from moderated to severe in more than two thirds of patients, with an average score of 3,6±3, 9. More than 80% presented in a high degree, depressive symptoms to an average score of 7,7 ±3,4. The presence of uttermost depressive symptoms (OR: 0,23, IC:0,06;0,83), the degree of neurological affection (OR: 0,53, IC:0,09;3,10) and elderliness(OR: 1,93, IC: 1,44;2,63) were the factors associated with life quality affection. Conclusions: Stroke has physical and emotional consequences. Ictus has emotional and physical consequences. Life quality is determined by the neurological affection degree, elderliness and the presence of depressive symptoms in the acute phase.Keywords: Stroke, life quality, depression, disability, predisposing factors.
