Objective. To evaluate the effectiveness of SARS-CoV-2 vaccines to avoid death and intubation in hospitalized patients with Covid-19. Materials and methods. We present an analysis of 3 565 hospitalizations for SARS-CoV-2 in people over 20 years of age, reported for public health purposes by 10 specialty hospitals, comparing those discharged for improvement (2 094) with those who died (1 471) in mixed models of logistic regression adjusted for age, sex, number of comorbidities and the reporting hospital as a random variable. Results. A complete vaccination schedule, with five types of vaccine available, had a protective effect for death or intubation (OR: 0.67, CI95%: 0.54,0.83, 33% protection) and for death (OR: 0.80, CI95%: 0.64,0.99, 20% protection) compared to those who had not been vaccinated. All the applied vaccines in the Mexican program showed a protective effect with an OR<0.8, with variable confidence intervals. Conclusions. Even in patients previously vaccinated and hospitalized with severe Covid-19, a history of vaccination reduces the risks of being intubated and dying.

Objective. To identify how the strategy of providing contraceptive methods after any obstetric event (APEO, its Spanish acronym) is implemented and to analyze the barriers, actions and recommendations to prevent subsequent pregnancies in adolescents. Materials and methods. Qualitative study through content analysis of 21 semi-structured interviews with health services providers from two Mexican states. Results. The provision of contraceptives after any obstetric event is promoted during pregnancy, childbirth, postabortion, puerperium and up to 12 months after the obstetric event. Counseling should address, in addition to technical information on contraceptive methods, other key issues related to the sexual and reproductive rights of adolescents. We identified personal, institutional and social barriers in the implementation of the strategy. Health staff provided specific recommendations and actions for consolidate this strategy. Conclusion. The APEO strategy must be strengthened to guarantee the supply of services according to the needs of women under 20, as well as to design interventions based on good practices and health providers’ recommendations to overcome barriers and have longer birth intervals that imply further births beyond adolescence.

Resumen
Objective. To estimate the association of disability and quality of life considering the potential mediating role of caregiver burden among a sample of older Mexican adults and their caregivers. Materials and methods. Cross-sectional study with 93 dyads (elderly/caregivers) conducted in 2018 in five localities (urban and rural) of the State of Mexico. The quality of life (QoL) was determined using the WHOQoL (WHO Quality of Life) instrument. Disability was measured by assessing the basic activities of daily living (BADL), and the caregiver burden was evaluated by the Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI). Results. The results showed that BADL disability is associated with a lower QoL (total effect: -14.3; 95%CI: -20.2,-8.4) and that a significant proportion of this association can be attributable to caregiver burden (25.0%; 95%CI: 17.9,43.2). Conclusions. Our findings show the need for designing effective interventions that prevent or ameliorate the adverse effects of caregiver burden.

Resumen
Objective. To analyze the relationship between disordered eating behaviors (DEB) and depressive symptoms, suicide attempts, and alcohol and tobacco use in adolescents in a national survey in Mexico. Materials and methods. Data from the Encuesta Nacional de Salud y Nutrición 2018-19 were used. Three levels of DEB were established: no risk (DEB-NR), moderate risk (DEB-MR), and high risk (DEB-HR). An ordinal logistic regression model was performed with level of DEB risk as a dependent variable. Results. National prevalence of DEB-MR was 6.0% (95%CI: 5.6, 6.5), while that of DEB-HR was 1.3% (95%CI: 1.1, 1.6). Suicide attempt (OR= 1.82, 95%CI: 1.02,3.25) and depressive symptoms (OR= 2.6, 95%CI: 1.40,4.98) were associated with being at a higher risk of DEB. Conclusion. Since both depressive symptoms and suicide attempt are associated with DEB, prevention strategies should consider interventions that simultaneously address the various mental health problems present in adolescence.

Resumen
Objective. This study proposes the Spanish adaptation and validation of the operational criteria OPCRIT checklist for psychotic disorders 4.0. This instrument provides a diagnosis based on several diagnostic systems. Materials and methods. The original inventory was translated into Spanish and then back-translated into the original English language. We tested the criterion-validity, the concurrent validity and the inter-rater reliability from a sample of 106 clinical records of adult patients from a local community mental health center. Results. The data obtained demonstrated the validity and reliability of the OPCRIT 4.0 adaptation in the evaluation of the sample of medical records. Conclusions. The OPCRIT 4.0 Spanish adaptation and validation provides a fast, reliable, and useful system allows the diagnosis of psychotic disorders through different classification systems.

Resumen
Objective. To describe and characterize HIV care service networks in Mexico. Materials and methods. We analyzed the relationships established by actors involved in prevention and care services under a social network analysis approach. Results. Service provision networks comprise governmental as well as non-governmental actors. Across the service continuum, fragmentation and low connectivity increase. Conclusions. The provision of HIV services in Mexico is a multi-governance process. The configuration of the networks does not imply that the provision of services is optimal. However, specialized care units have established collaborative networks to offer timely care in a context of limited resources and results-based public management.
