Resumen
Policies of forced migration due to environmental degradation expose migrants to a number of potential risks, particularly in developing and newly industrialized countries such as China. This article aims to explore the contribution of institutional governance and migrant participation to the mitigation of these risks. Based on an empirical survey conducted in two villages in China’s Ningxia province, we consider the interactive relations between migrants and local government, and find that the participatory nature of local institutions (or lack thereof ) plays a fundamental role in determining the success of migration policies. Thus, the risks of social dislocation are not inevitable consequences imposed on migrants: When given the opportunity, they can adapt, influence, and improve resettlement projects in order to mitigate the risks to which they are exposed.

Resumen
In this article we argue for a world in which open borders are the rule and not the exception. This argument is based on the general recognition of ius migrandias a basic right of persons. An open-border immigration policy is preferable—atleast from a normative standpoint—to the typical policies designed to control or block borders through the simplistic mode of constructing walls. On the basis of a global conception of distributive justice as suggested by cosmopolitan egalitarians,we claim that open-door policies—or, failing in that, the implementation of a system of economic compensation for poor countries—provide powerful means to respond to the enormous inequalities that exist between countries and represent an appropriate way to order current migratory flows.

Resumen
The main idea of this article is to show the demographic and economic profile of Mexican international migrants, according to their condition of obesity or being overweight. This article is a descriptive analysis and is based on information of the Emif Norte’s 2010 Health Module. One of the main findings of this article is that most Mexican migrants were diagnosed as being overweight after arriving in the United States; however, Mexicans’ perception about their health in the United States is more positive than it is in Mexico. One of the conclusions is that the return of Mexican migrants who are overweight could impact Mexican society and the Mexican health system.
