In the present work, a packed bed absorption column is designed to recover certain amounts of ethanol contained in a gaseous stream. Four packing types (50-mm metal Hiflow® rings, 50-mm ceramic Pall® rings, 50-mm metal Top Pak® rings and 25-mm metal VSP® rings) are considered in order to select the most appropriate one in terms of column dimensions, pressure drop and mass-transfer results. Several design parameters were determined including column diameter (D), packing height (Z), overall mass-transfer coefficient (Km) and gas pressure drop (P/Z), as well as the overall number of gas-phase transfer units (NtOG), overall height of a gas-phase transfer unit (HtOG) and the effective surface area of packing (ah). The most adequate packing to use for this absorption system constitutes the 25-mm metal VSP® rings, since it provided the greatest values of Km (0.325 kmol/m3.s), and ah (169.57 m-1), as well as the lowest values of both Z (0.6 m) and HtOG (0.145 m), meaning that it will supply the higher mass-transfer conditions with the lowest column dimensions. The influence of both gas mixture (QG) and solvent (mL) feed flowrates on D, Z, Km, P/Z, NtOG and HtOG was also evaluated for the four packing considered. The design methodology was solved using computing software MATLAB® version 7.8.0.347 (R2009a) (Math Works, 2009), and also Microsoft Excel®.D

Insulin regulates growth in plants such as maize and beans, through cell proliferation. In this study we observed that in NT-1 tobacco cell cultures, the hormone regulates cell proliferation dependent on the presence of auxins. The cultures where the auxin concentration was limited showed a low mitotic activity, which was reestablished by the addition of 1.23 nM of insulin through the expression of the cyclin B, CDKB, E2F, G protein subunit β ARC A and glutation -S-transferase (GST) genes. The cultures also presented an increase in dry weight and small cells corresponding to a phenotype with high cell division. On the other hand, it has been reported that the absence of auxins in this type of culture of suspended tobacco cells leads to a partial synchronization, and in this system insulin also promoted proliferation, increasing the expression of the E2F gene.

The objective of this research is to carry out the evaluation of the dynamic stability of inclined surface milling process of the hardened steel AISI D6 with high speeds, through the analysis of the roughness profiles in the sense of the advance. The evaluation of the dynamic stability was based in the analysis of the roughness profiles, the signal of the force component in the axis Y in time domain and the Root Mean Square of the signals of force in the three axes. The research demonstrated that it is possible to evaluate the dynamic stability of a milling process through the analysis of the roughness profiles, being obtained profiles uniforms and smaller values of superficial roughness in the most stable processes. It was also demonstrated that the roughness and the superficial quality depend in bigger measure of the dynamic stability of the process that of the cutting speed, being achieved in areas of more dynamic stability, to increase the advance speed and cut with good results in the superficial roughness of the milled piece.

This paper reports the application of the screw theory as a tool for the determination of the singular configurations of a reconfigurable parallel robot composed of two parallel sub-manipulators. The Jacobian matrices of the robot, key elements for the identification of singularities, are easily determined when the input-output equation of velocity of the robot is obtained by the application of some screw theory basic operations. Through this application, the inverse, direct and combined singularities are clearly identified, and their graphical representations can be obtained almost intuitively.

En el marco del estudio de modelos culturales, la presente investigación acota su búsqueda y análisis de dichos modelos a la práctica musical en Chile,  específicamente a partir del libro “lecciones de clave y principios de harmonía, para el uso de María de Mercedes de Salas y Corbalán” exhibido en 1947 por el historiador Eugenio Pereira salas. desde el estudio del título, se pone de manifiesto una red de significaciones particulares que iluminan la interpretación del texto, su época y el contexto cultural del siglo XVIII.

Una de las obras de repertorio para la flauta travesera más destacadas, no ya del periodo barroco exclusivamente sino de toda la historia del instrumento, apenas ha sido objeto de estudio más allá de las frecuentemente esquemáticas introducciones a ediciones en partitura o grabación discográfica. Desde la perspectiva del flautista cualificado y bajo un punto de vista histórico, musicológico y técnico, se aportan junto al manejo de la bibliografía existente reflexiones personales para tratar cuestiones tales como el lugar que ocupa la sonata en el catálogo bachiano, la relación de Bach con la flauta, la dificultad técnica de su música y, como asunto más controvertido, la existencia de un registro propiamente idiomático para la flauta. Al margen se tratan otras cuestiones de análisis de la forma y el estilo que no podían faltar en una aproximación general a la pieza. Como apéndice se procura un listado con las ediciones en partitura y en grabación discográfica más representativas de la sonata.

En el presente artículo se analizan distintas tendencias de la creación musical contemporánea chilena, intentando comprender sus principales características y su posible vinculación con paradigmas estéticos dominantes del pasado y del presente, así como su evolución dentro de nuestra propia historia musical reciente. A través de ese análisis se espera contribuir a la reflexión en torno a la inevitable tensión entre identidad individual e identidad colectiva de todo acto creativo, tensión particularmente importante en la escena cultural chilena. Con ese fin, hablaremos de tres posturas o actitudes dominantes de la música actual en Chile: evasión, reivindicación e hibridación.

The present article is an historiographical exercise on chilean’s popular music books of postdictatorship (1990 onwards). The analysis focuses on the construction of memory in this body of literature carried forward by authors mainly from journalism.

Este artículo busca comprender cómo algunos profesores de escuela en Francia llevan a cabo la clase de música. Conjuntamente con averiguar el tipo de actividades, se pretende comprender las motivaciones de los profesores para realizarlas. A partir de los conceptos de representaciones sociales, experiencia vivida y carrera, se realizaron entrevistas cualitativas, las cuales se analizaron a través de la técnica de análisis temático. Entre los principales hallazgos se observó cómo las representaciones sociales y la vivencia entran en juego al momento de llevar a cabo las actividades musicales. También se pudo trazar una carrera musical propia a cada enseñante. Asimismo aparece un nuevo sentimiento, primordial al momento de decidir realizar la clase de música.
