Ciro Alegria's narrative is considered by the critics as one of the pillars to understand the process of the phenomenon of Indigenism in Peru and Latin America. Diverse authors point out that his novel El mundo es ancho y ajeno (1941) is part of the literary canon mainly because of the tensions that it is possible to capture in the text, probably one of the characteristics of the indigenist novel will be to reveal the social and cultural problem that existed in Peru.  The community of Rumi in Alegría's novel represents a collective space where the subjects involved give us a perspective of the man who lives culturally uprooted by another, be it the mestizo or the creole, so that we can find social, cultural and ideological conflicts. On the other hand, within this same space and thanks to the voices that the novel shows us, we can find mythical and ideological values that symbolize the tradition and spirit of indigenous man. To understand this conception we will use two theoretical notions: The concept of chronotope of Mijael Bajtin, this to recreate the space-time in Alegria's novel since it is here where its relationship with "reality" and the ideological position of the subjects is determined and, we will also use the notion of symbol-sign of Julia Kristeva, because we consider that it is possible to find a "mythical ambiguity" in the novel.

General Theory of Verbal Humor (GTVH) by Attardo and Raskin in 1991 is one of the references in Linguistic to analyze humor. This theory is based on six knowledge resources which define whether a text is humorous or not if we apply them in a hierarchical way. Theory mentioned above has been applied to different texts with satisfactory results. Although the second knowledge resource, known as logical mechanism, arouses some polemics (Ruiz Gurillo, 2012). Attardo, Hempelmann y Di Maio (2002) created a classification for those logical mechanisms, making difference on two types: logical mechanisms based in syntagmatic relations on one hand, and logical mechanisms based in reasoning on the other. The goal of this paper is to propose a restructuration of this classification of logical mechanisms, because, if we take a look at its operative, there are only logical mechanisms based in reasoning, as those based in syntagmatic relations do not work as logical mechanisms, but humorous linguistics sings

In the framework of an exploratory-descriptive research, our objective is to describe the lexical features of professional texts for academic purposes produced by students of Law and Medicine. We analyzed the TeProFAc corpus, made up of 123 texts of Law and Medicine. The features explored are terminology, collocations, verb tenses, subjectivity markers, initialisms, and abbreviations. We highlight that some categories made it possible to establish distinctions between disciplines: terminology, acronyms, abbreviations, and subjectivity markers, while the colocations and the use of verb tenses did not show disciplinary differences. In conclusion, the nature of each discipline is reflected in the lexical features of the texts produced by students of Law and Medicine.

Carlos Alsina develops a prolific career as a playwright in Tucumán (Argentina) and, simultaneously, he maintains a fluid artistic interchange with Europe. From the comparative theater, it interests us to understand how the play El pasaje is part of a provincial dramaturgical project and, at the same time, accompanies the constant displacement by the author. The drama proposes a recreation of the classic myth of the death trip, that it is part of the global horizon, and, on this scheme, mounts a critic to the repetition, related to the history of Tucumán, that it inaugurates the local difference.

The study of linguistic attitudes is a tool of extraordinary value when it comes to understanding the concepts that a certain language provokes in the listeners, in most cases based on stereotypes common to an entire community. In our study, we considered that the attitudes towards the Portuguese language in two geographically distant nations, Spain and Uruguay, but both speakers of the same language, could provide interesting insights into the perception that Portuguese exported to neighbouring nations. We limited our study between 1860 and 1930, because they were decades in which both nations suffered huge changes in the political and social levels, but even more radical in the intellectual and literary levels. Accordingly, we analysed literary works, newspaper articles, and essays by Spanish and Uruguayan writers, as we consider that literature is a vehicle for the transmission of different peoples' identities.

This essay is based on a description of indigenous words in the work of the German chronicler Ulrich Schmidel (1510-1579), one of the few German-language accounts of the conquest that refers to an early period of colonialism. First, we will compile an inventory of the indigenous words found in the selected text and investigate what kind of strategies and procedures are used, in order to then carry out a comparative case study on how these lexical indigenisms are introduced into the English and Spanish translations of the original German text. We will present the similarities or differences that can be found in the texts researched, and if possible we will make a case for the criteria used for the chosen terms, in other words, whether there is any notable trend when incorporating the loanwords into the chronicles, and whether they aid a better understanding of the process of contact between languages and cultures.

This paper presents the diatopic distribution of the phonological processes of elision, debuccalization, velarization, and palatal delateralization that affect the phonemes /s/, /r/, /n/, /ʝ/ and /ÊŽ/ in Colombia. For the representation, we used a  selection of phonetic maps from the linguistic and ethnographic atlas of Colombia (ALEC) (Instituto Caro y Cuervo, 1982). The aim is to discuss with the literature related to the dialectal division of the Spanish of Colombia and to establish a state of art for the design of the phonetic questionnaire of the New linguistic and anthropologic atlas of Colombia. As result, we specified the exact distribution zones of the phonological processes in discussion with the literature that used to generalize them in bigger dialectal zones.
