This article describes the sacred stories collected in the divinatory systems of Cuban Santeria, transmitted by oral tradition and explores how they determine the daily life of the believers of this religion. An analysis of some of these stories (patakís), collected by the author in the provinces of Villa Clara and Havana, Cuba, is presented. These patakís can be cosmogonic, mythological, or fabulous, but they are personalized for each believer through the act of divination and, above all, from a complex ceremony called awofaka for men and ikofá for women.

En Estados Unidos la supremacía blanca ha sido un importante factor de imposición por parte de los sectores hegemónicos, que instauraron la concepción de raza como un agente de control social ya que anula la solidaridad de clase. Como tal, implica que las clases blancas pobres acepten su situación subalterna a cambio de argüir una pertenencia identitaria a la «excepcional» raza anglosajona americana. Este excepcionalismo, como aspecto fundante de la identidad blanca estadounidense, posee una carga moral que, desde el siglo XIX, fue explicada por las ciencias que trataban la cuestión racial y hereditaria. Ante ellas surge un dilema al notar que existen personas blancas que no se adecuan al ideal, principalmente pobres, enfermos mentales y delincuentes. La eugenesia, surgida en 1883, fue un paradigma científico-social que instrumentó el excepcionalismo al plantear teorías y métodos purgantes dentro de la propia supremacía blanca.

El concepto de Dictadura es analizado meticulosamente en los libros de María Victoria Crespo y Cecilia Lesgart aquí reseñados. El primero, publicado en 2017, es el resultado de una larga investigación de la autora que, en este caso, se concentra en desarrollar una historia conceptual de la dictadura en el escenario latinoamericano, mientras que el segundo, aparecido en 2024, constituye una reflexión colectiva sobre la historia del concepto producto de un seminario en el que participaron los autores de los ensayos.

El artículo se propone dimensionar, describir y analizar desde una perspectiva sociológica el fenómeno del suicidio en personal de las fuerzas federales de Argentina en el período 2016-2023. El análisis repara en tres dimensiones de los suicidios policiales: factores de riesgo policial, circunstancias precipitantes y características de estos fenómenos. El estudio integra diversas estrategias, fuentes y temporalidades: repone y conceptualiza información difundida por instancias gubernamentales, reconstruye el punto de vista de los actores a partir de entrevistas en profundidad e incorpora un conjunto de materiales diversos, como legislación, notas en prensa y datos estadísticos. El artículo habilita un mayor conocimiento sobre el volumen y las características del suicidio policial. Además, los elementos presentes en el análisis evidencian que los suicidios constituyen muertes difíciles de procesar institucionalmente en parte porque los actores problematizan dos dimensiones, la laboral y la personal, que la institución intenta constantemente mantener unidas.

The article aims to characterize how the Pampas agribusiness coexists with various forms of land grabbing and organizational transformations driven by financial capital. The focus is on the logics that commanded the accumulation strategies of the actors and the ways in which land grabbers and former occupants/owners interacted. The main source was the review and analysis of specialized bibliography to address the proposed problem. One conclusion is that integration into the agribusiness model is far from being a win-win situation, with diversity prevailing instead. Thus, those who managed to integrate as rentiers were small and medium-sized landowners who made their land available for lease to sowing pools, others had to scale up to compete, while the less fortunate abandoned agricultural activity or joined the model as service providers and contractors.

This article examines, through the press, how Argentine society framed and engaged in the battle against inflation in the second half of the twentieth century. By systematically analysing the way in which Clarín and La Nación portrayed the phenomenon over three decades (from 1959 to 1989), it highlights two opposing ways of representing and attempting to govern the economy. Between the 1950s and the 1970s, inflation was presented as a social and political phenomenon intermingled with other sources of popular unrest. Rooted in opposing representations, successive authorities deployed coercive, even violent, measures to "tame" prices. From the mid-1970s onwards, the problem of inflation began to be formulated and dealt with on the basis of new terminology, numbers and interpreters. It became the domain of economic expertise that demanded technical intervention at a distance.

Our contribution aims to explain the motives and strategies used by the main actors of Neuquén radicalism and frepasism in the assembly of an alliance with the objective of challenging the predominant provincial party for the governorship. Organized in line with national actions, this political play meant a strong challenge to face a stable government represented by the Neuquén Popular Movement, anchoring in the possibility of defeating it. Nevertheless, it was also difficult to the local force which had a divided government for the first time in its history. Yet, it overcame the difficulties by fragmenting and co-opting opposition legislators. The axis of analysis involves exposing the course of the only historical moment since the return of democracy, in which the opposition was closer to achieving alternation in the province. The temporal cut of the research links the time that passes between 1999 and 2003 and links local-national studies, documentation from personal archives, regional-national press and key oral testimonies of the chosen period.

This article studies the Groove Gap Waveguide (GGW) technology and its possible application in the new scenarios that will arise with the deployment of the sixth generation (6G) of wireless communications systems, to achieve greater data transmission and reliability of communication networks, due to the advantages that this technology can provide in environments where high availability of the millimetre bands (mmWave) is required. This technology allows the transmission of waves without the need for physical contact between the conductive materials, solving the problem of physical contact necessary in traditional waveguides, by means of a structure of metallic pins with separation between them, which emulate the function of perfect Magnetic Conductive Material (PMC). The present work is aimed at the design of a 2 × 2 element slot antenna array for W-band satellite applications, using the GGW technology variant. A maximum gain of 12.2 dBi is obtained, with a bandwidth of approximately 18.2 %, at the design frequency (94 GHz), which can solve problems in future antenna designs for the development of new 6G applications, due to the capability of GGW technology to achieve low losses and high power handling capacity at high frequencies.

This article aims to present the design methodology of an alternative control solution for the recovery of inoperative medical steam sterilizers resulting from serious failures in the control hardware and lack of support from the manufacturer. Autoclaves allow sterilizing of medical-surgical and laboratory instruments from hospitals and health centers. They are of vital importance for the maintenance and quality of medical services. The methodology presented presents in detail the diagnostic procedure, identification of sensor curves, definition of requirements, hardware design, and software design that support the defined control solution. The article proposes an overflow control architecture for the temperature in the different stages of the sterilization process that contemplates the pulse width modulation for the activation of the electric steam generator from a conventional magnetic contactor, considering the limitations associated with the switching times for this type of actuator. The methodology is applied to a steam sterilizer model “SAKURA FI-371”. The results present an ergonomic solution that allows supervision, monitoring of the process, and recording trends of desired variables. Likewise, compliance with the stages of a work cycle and the correct adjustment of the temperature control loop in the sterilization chamber is demonstrated. The certification of the solution was achieved through biological testing by the corresponding national regulatory entity.
