The aim of this research paper is to analyse the representation of female bodies in three movies by director Carlos Vermut: Diamond Flash (2011), Magical Girl (2014) and Quién te cantará (2018). By applying an interdisciplinary perspective combining semiotics and feminist film theory, we study the modes of identification related to women’s main characters. Textual analysis allows us to conclude that in Vermut’s fiction women are condemned to live an abject corporeality, forced to choose between identity reinvention or death.

The hermeneutic potential of walking has been vindicated as a critical activity that is closely linked to the work of a number of noted Western thinkers. In the peculiar space of museums, the changing perspective that walking offers can favor a renewal of exhibition and visiting practices. This article analyzes the written record of two singular walks through the Prado Museum published a century apart (1922-2022). In their respective essays, Eugenio d’Ors and Estrella de Diego propose disruptive tours of the Madrid gallery. Their texts exemplify the change in sensibilities that guide visits to the museum as well as in the criticism of the institution itself and the disciplines that support it.

Pandemics have existed since the dawn of humanity as a result of the space that is shared between microorganisms and humans. A series of determinants, such as poverty, ignorance and lack of hygiene favored them then and, today, these circumstances continue to exist in many countries. In the present study, three pandemics are reviewed to exemplify their causes at each time —also the successes— and to be able to reflect on the reasons for the current pandemics. But, in addition, at the present time there are other reasons that favor them, such as overpopulation, environmental aggression and the speed of international travel. The magnitude of these new determinants have led to the change of geological era in the course of a few thousand years, having opened the way to the Anthropocene. Its consequences can be analyzed disease by disease, but for scholars it must be understood as a whole, a paradigm shift in what we understand as health and that will lead to unpredictable consequences if measures are not taken in time.

Introduction

Las comunidades indígenas de México son vulnerables a la inseguridad alimentaria (IA) debido a una serie de factores que les impiden acceder a alimentos suficientes y nutritivos. Por ello, este grupo poblacional presenta la mayor desnutrición crónica del país. Objetivo: este estudio describe las condiciones de IA de una comunidad indígena de la Huasteca Potosina. Metodología: la IA se midió con la Escala del Componente de Acceso a la Inseguridad Alimentaria en el Hogar (HFIAS por sus siglas en inglés). Resultados: existe inseguridad alimentaria que va desde la preocupación por la falta de alimentos, la reducción de los mismos hasta el hambre. 95.57% de los hogares con menores de 18 años se encontraban en algún estado de inseguridad alimentaria, predominando la inseguridad alimentaria severa. Limitaciones: fue un estudio transversal realizado en una comunidad de la Huasteca Potosina. Sin embargo, es el municipio con mayor grado de marginación de la zona y la comunidad elegida es la más grande del municipio. Por lo tanto, los resultados pueden considerarse representativos de la zona. Conclusiones: la seguridad alimentaria de la comunidad depende de factores climáticos, socioeconómicos, demográficos, geográficos, culturales, condiciones de preferencia alimentaria, entre otros. Al abordar la inseguridad alimentaria es necesario considerar todos estos factores para tener un diagnóstico real de las condiciones de inseguridad alimentaria en las comunidades rurales e indígenas.
