Resumen
This note presents a doctoral research project on the circulation and implementation of new HIV prevention strategies in Latin America (Argentina, Brazil & Mexico), particularly those related to Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP). To understand how PrEP became an affordable technology, it is necessary to locate the chronic health condition that gave rise to it, HIV, and the discourse regarding its prevention. The working hypothesis is that PrEP is a global health biomedical strategy highlighting the relationship between transnational intervention programs, government enrollment and consumers’ subjective experiences.

Resumen
The article shows the funeral ritual preferences of elderly people in the city of Córdoba, Argentina. In line with the transformations in funeral rituals, the decision about the fate of the body fluctuates between personal autonomy, negotiation with the social environment and delegating matters to the family. In fact, a change of era has been identified in the validity of certain rites, as well as the use of creative practices, whose ritualization is assumed as a form of mediation to connect with life and death. The findings are part of a study on social imaginaries about death in old age, based on a qualitative analysis from an interpretative biographical framework.

Resumen
Based on a review of the concept of energy transition in history and the sociology of alternative energies, this article seeks to explain the power relations in the context of renewable energy project development in Mexico. We posit that, contrary to what many sectors declare, energy changes not only involve technological aspects but also changes in social and political organization. Given the dominance of large-scale renewable energy projects, this article provides elements to develop political thinking about the changes currently being effected within the framework of government action and the opinion of certain dominant political groups.

Resumen
The First World War delivered a severe blow to the already unstable Chilean economy and inaugurated a long and protracted critical period, which ended only in the mid 1930s. Which not only caused the collapse of the export sector, but it also meant an end to the very foundations of the growth “model” that had been implemented since the 1830s. The decision made by the Chilean leadership after the War of the Pacifi c (in the early 1880s) to transform the country into a mono-export economy is one of the factors that explain the chaotic postwar situation- insofar as the country became exposed and vulnerable to the ups and downs of the international economy. Yet most of the economic troubles were created domestically, particularly by the economic policies implemented both by Congress and the government. But while external factors (World War One in particular) created incentives for import substitution, the management of the economy created obstacles, which were only removed after the political crisis of 1924 that signaled the beginning of the end of the traditional order. In that context, the necessity to develop the manufacturing industry gradually became an option for the country's development and growth. This process was carried out by the middle class and became consolidated by the mid 1920s.

Resumen
This article reviews the changes of the last 20 years in international trade, and then analyzes the behavior of the Spanish foreign sector before, during and after the great global financial crisis (GFC) that began in 2008. Subsequently, analyzes whether during the post-crisis period, starting in 2014, there has been a change in the elasticities of the foreign sector (both Spanish and European) and whether the regulatory changes and the behavior of economic agents have translated into a behavior Spanish differential compared to our European partners that helps us to hypothesize what may happen to the foreign sector in the post-COVID-19 pandemic recovery.

Resumen
With data form Spanish Non-Financial Corporations (NFC), the paper analyses the contraction of activity during the pandemic, as well as its effects on the liquidity, leverage and profits of Spanish firms. The contraction of the activity reduces the accounting profits and the internally generated funds, but the liquidity and financial situations was not altered because corporations increased debt, and reduced capital investment and dividends, at the same time. The lower profit margins, if continue, can drag the incentives to invest in the recovery, although the fact that the lower margin is the consequence of an increase in the share of labor compensation in value added, may act as stimuli from the demand side.

Resumen
The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has caused a considerable global economic contraction, although the magnitude of the impact has been uneven. However, the response of economic policies to the crisis has been dazzling and of an unprecedented magnitude in the recent past. Overall, the contribution of the discretionary component has been larger in the United States than in the eurozone. While in the United States it could mean an increase in the size of the welfare state, in the eurozone it could represent a significant advance in the construction of the Fiscal Union and in the improvement of economic governance.

Resumen
The International Financial Institutions have responded swiftly and in a sustained manner in support of low and middle income countries to help them deal with the health, social and economic crisis induced by the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as through fostering a socially and environmentally sustainable recovery. The challenges ahead include strengthening this support in a context where, for most countries, the pandemic has led to a setback in their development goals, and a loss in the margin of maneuver of economic policy due to the increased financial vulnerabilities and high public debt levels.

Resumen
This article analyzes the role of the banking sector in the economic recovery after the pandemic. The leading role has been in loans to companies, many of them backed by the Official Credit Institute (ICO). Bank credit support for economic recovery will be a highly selective process given the delicate financial situation of an important part of the business fabric.
