A reflection is proposed around the interactions that art and science usually have through different paths and methods. Sometimes, for historical-social reasons or as an act of serendipity, artists tend to offer works that to a certain extent represent visually or graphically what is proposed in scientific fields. In both cases, it can be affirmed that they are alternative routes through which the human condition travels. A notable example of this is offered by the reticular works of the German-Venezuelan sculptor Gego and the drawings of neural maps made first by Ramón y Cajal and, later, by his disciple Lorente de Nô. But there are many examples where scientific thought and artistic expression touch and shake hands; the important thing here is to maintain those disciplinary bridges that allow us to abound and enrich our knowledge.

When Maagie O'Farrell learned about the anecdote that inspired William Shakespeare's famous play, Hamlet, she was intrigued that it was such an unnoticed and poorly documented event. More than 400 years later, the British novelist dared to claim that event with a fantastic and heartbreaking work in equal parts. This is the critical review of Hamnet, a non-biographical book, but certainly a piece that invites us to revisit history from two different perspectives.

"Everything breaks" is a fantasy and psychological story. It narrates part of the life of a family disrupted by the disappearance of Mariana, one of two sisters, for nine days. The story is told from the point of view of Berenice, the younger sister, and the mother: in the confluence of their voices, in the exposure of their memories, the weight that a misfortune can put on domestic life and modify their reality.

The history of art and literature consider that the first collection of monuments and landscapes made in Mexico is, precisely, Monumentos de México tomados del natural (1841), drawn and written by the Italian Pedro Gualdi. At the same time that it shows the solid European academic training of its author —with the handling and mastery of various techniques and approaches—, the work also reveals the great sensitivity and empathy that he established with the object of artistic representation, Mexico and the Mexican, by capturing a total image of the national environment and identifying and integrating with it.

A review of the cultural construction of femininity is proposed from of three axes of convergence: the ideal of beauty, anatomical ideology and theatricality genital, from the development of anatomy in the Italian High Renaissance to the emergence of the pornographic industry in the cinema, at the beginning of the 20th century. For such an undertaking, the analysis focuses on the Venere dei Medici, a female anatomical cast in wax used for medical training at the end of the 18th century, in order to demonstrate that both anatomical and pornographic thought justify the same truth about the human body: the ontological becoming of the flesh is determined by the phallus and its absence (or complementarity).

A woman begins to reflect on her past while listening to the jazz music of her youth. However, in the lucubration he discovers that he has fallen into several clichés that he prefers to avoid: the melodies, the glass of wine, the window that reveals an urban landscape. So, rework the scene: the disco ball, the concert on the fronton court, the Rolling Stone songs? Again spins a new adolescent nostalgia.

In this paper we will try to make a brief reflection on science, appealing to certain proposals of some of the most influential epistemologists in the contemporary world, such as Popper, Villoro or Kuhn. An attempt will be made to analyze the concept of what science is, its limits and scope, as well as its purposes, having as a point of reference the incidence that some examples may have that allow us to visualize its virtues in a general way. It is an attempt to show science as a human activity, which is found in the dialectic of success and error, and that this is precisely what gives it its human character, in which we discover an activity that is always provisional, which is not there to provide us with eternal and absolute truths, but with transitory knowledge, ready to be questioned tirelessly.

An approximation to the experience of Albert Camus is made in his passage through the Algerian publications Alger Républicain and Le Soir Républicain. We focus our attention on the period from the end of 1938 to the beginning of 1940 because we consider that the analysis of the beginnings of Camus in the press allows us to notice the emergence and evolution of a perspective, that is, a particular way of understanding the journalism that is created, recreated and reflected in the exercise of his career in the local newspapers of the African country. Alger Républicain and Le Soir Républicain are testimonies to the serious commitment that, through words, the philosopher assumed with the problems of the Algerian and European reality of his time and his unwavering defense of freedom of expression; it is in these publications that the defiant writer of Combat and the consolidated editorialist of LʼExpress emerge and take shape.

Some stories by Guadalupe Dueñas are addressed that denote a rejection of certain human qualities, such as adulthood —from the child's perspective, or vice versa—, obesity, physical disability and race, aspects that lead to the abject from the perspective of narrators or protagonists. Likewise, the aversion to poverty is highlighted from the perspective of characters from a wealthy class, as well as the contempt and fear that dirt or certain customs of the less favored produce in them. It is also observed how in most cases these disparities lead to situations of cruelty, violence and even death. The study is based on the theories of Julia Kristeva, Mikhail Bakhtin and Paul Ricoeur regarding otherness and abjection.
