Resumen
Oral health plays an important role in well-being and cannot be neglected, especially in situations of health crisis such as the Covid-19 pandemic, which limits access to health services for treatment, controls and follow-up in patients with special conditions. Therefore, we report the clinical case of an 8-year-old girl diagnosed with Down syndrome treated through tele-guidance in dentistry. Design and application of family and oral risk assessment instruments b. Orientation in oral and family health c. Follow-up of activities. Instruments were designed to be applied and to be able to investigate study variables; the state of oral health was done through oral photographs. The tele-guidance lasted 3 months, with a weekly meeting using the WhatsApp application. Risk factors for the health of the patient and her family were identified, such as the presence of dental biofilm, high sugar consumption, low frequency of oral brushing, limited source of income due to the Covid-19 pandemic, among others. The patient's mother manages to reduce the risk factors including the patient's own risks; therefore, it is concluded that the teleorientation in dentistry represents a valuable resource for comprehensive care in oral health and with a focus on risk during times of crisis and pandemic such as the current Covid-19 pandemic for the care of patients with Down Syndrome.

Resumen
Ameloblastic fibro odontoma is an infrequent and benign odontogenic tumor that affects primarily children and young adults between the first and second decade of life.
This paper is a case report of a 12 - year - old male patient who attended at “Don Benito Quinquela Martín” Pediatric Dental Hospital presenting this benign odontogenic tumour associated to an impacted permanent lower right canine. The treatment plan included a multidisciplinary collaboration between the Departments of Preventive Dentistry, Dentomaxilar Surgery, Orthodontics and Speech Pathology. In the first stage, preventive measures and infections were treated by the Department of Preventive Dentistry. The second stage was the surgical removal of the lesion and the associated dental structures. The patient’s evolution was favourable, so an Orthodontic treatment was developed. Objective: to describe the clinical situation of a 12 - year - old male patient with a diagnosis of ameloblastic fibro odontoma with an interdisciplinary approach and within a comprehensive treatment plan. Conclusion: premature clinical and radiographic diagnosis is essencial in pediatric dentistry to enable early diagnosis of potential lesions and avoiding future complications.

Resumen
Introduction: Since December 2019, the new strain of coronavirus 2, which causes severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS-CoV-2), has caused a global pandemic. Infected children and adolescents are generally asymptomatic and experience only mild respiratory symptoms. However, an alarming new trend has been reported in pediatric COVID-19 infections, in which patients have even presented aggravating manifestations that have required hospitalization, leaving significant sequelae.
Objectives: To present the various oral manifestations associated with pediatric patients infected by SARS-CoV-2 and establish whether there is an association between these lesions and this virus as well as minimally invasive stomatological rehabilitation.
Case presentation: A 5-year-old male patient, with a history of COVID-19, who during his hospital stay presented refractory septic shock secondary to SARS-COV-2 and multiple organ failure, referred by Immunology Department to treat multiple carious lesions. He was rehabilitated with bioactive and conventional materials, establishing an excellent rapport with the patient, and achieving a successful oral rehabilitation.
Conclusions: It is the pediatric stomatologist's duty to know how to manage patients with sequelae due to COVID-19, since it produces multiple systemic alterations leaving various sequelae; as well as implementing an effective oral rehabilitation strategy and establishing prevention parameters. It is important to report the oral manifestations to establish the relationship they have with the symptoms of the infection and to recognize if there is an alteration inherent to this infection or if they are secondary to the systemic involvement of the patient and its pharmacological management.

Resumen
Despite the advances in reconstructive surgery, unilateral cleft lip and palate (UCLP) represents a complex surgical challenge when greater than 10 mm. In low resource settings, distance, lack of multidisciplinary centers, low income and currently, the pandemic; limits patients to access to presurgical treatment. This study reports 2 cases of complete UCLP, similar in size by professional visual inspection, male, not associated with any syndromes. The purpose is to review two presurgical orthopedic techniques: Maxillary Functional Orthopedic Plate (MFO) -Nasal Molding (NM) and Nasal Retractor (NR) -Taping as a teledentistry alternative. The patient with the FMO-NM plate was treated in 2015, in person; the NR-Taping patient, in 2021, by telemedicine and a trained health promoter. The results of nasal and maxillary symmetry were measured with ImageJ software, through 4 linear measurements and one angular, based on the method described by Barillas and linear measurements made on the plaster models such as those proposed by Mazaheri. The techniques described for both patients were able to reduce the width of the cleft and mold the alar cartilage on the cleft side.
The OFM-MN technique showed advantages in the development of the maxillary arch by guiding growth and development in the three planes of the space without collapse of the arch. The NR-Taping technique restricted the maxillary arch but is an alternative to remote treatment.

Resumen
Objectives: To study the behavior and anxiety of 4-8 year-old patients during the first dental visit, relating this behavior to parenting practices. Material and methods: A non-experimental cross- sectional clinical study was designed. The selection of patients was initially carried out by means of a non-probabilistic consecutive convenience sampling. A questionnaire was given to the parents before the visit, and subsequently the child’s evaluation was carried out through observation to determine the level of anxiety and the type of behavior of the child. Results: 18 children aged between 4 and 8 years participated in the study. 72.2% of the participants had a “restless” anxiety level and 27.8 “relaxed”. 72.2% had a “slightly positive” behavior. The majority parenting style was “authoritative” with 83.3%. No statistically significant difference was seen between the children’s anxiety level and behavior at the first dental visit and parenting style (p> 0.5). Conclusions: The children’s anxiety level is not influenced by the parenting style, however, a better behavior has been seen in the first dental visit in children with authoritative parents.

Resumen
Orthodontic treatment plan decisions may rely on establishing the timing of the mandibular growth peak, thus the evaluation of skeletal maturation is of importance. The aim of this study was to determine the correlation between the stages of permanent mandibular canine calcification observed in the panoramic radiography with the cervical maturation stages observed in the lateral cephalic radiography. Materials and Methods: A descriptive, cross-sectional and correlational study was performed evaluating the stages of bone maturation of the cervical vertebrae using the Baccetti method, and the stages of development of the mandibular canine using the stages described by Demirjian. The sample consisted of panoramic and lateral cephalic radiographs, obtained from 81 subjects (men and women) with ages between 9 and 14 years. The variables were compared using inferential statistics using contingency tables and Pearson's Chi2 tests. Results: The correlation between dental and skeletal maturation found for the males was 0.689 and for females, 0.690 (p <0.001). The F and G stages observed in the mandibular canine coincided with the stages CS1 and CS3 maturation respectively. Conclusion: Dental formation stages for the mandibular canine are related to cervical maturation stages and may be useful to infer timing of prepuberal growth peak.

Resumen
Abstract: Childhood overweight and obesity have become one of the public health challenges worldwide. These conditions can affect various systems, they are associated with an early onset of puberty and tooth eruption. Objective: to evaluate whether there is an association between nutritional status and the number of permanent teeth erupted in a population of school children in Costa Rica. Materials and methods: Cross-sectional study with a sample of 753 children between 6 and 12 years old. A clinical examination was performed the presence or absence of permanent teeth, weight and height measurements were recorded. The anthropometric status was evaluated according to the criteria of the World Health Organization. Descriptive analysis was carried out for all variables, comparison of means between groups (overweight/obesity versus normal weight) with the Mann-Whitney U test. A linear regression analysis was used with age and sex as covariates. Results: 69,20% children had a normal weight and 30,80% were overweight/obese. The average number or erupted teeth as higher in children with overweight/obesity than in those with normal weight (p=0.001). This difference remains in the analysis y sex (men, p=0.001; women, p=0.018). Linear regression analysis demonstrated that nutritional status (p=0.001) and age (p=0.001) are associated with the number of permanent teeth erupted. Conclusion: Overweight/obese school-age children have more erupted teeth than their healthy-weight peers.

Resumen
Introduction: Pulpotomy is the pulp treatment most frequently performed in primary dentition, but a bibliometric analysis of the scientific literature on the subject has not yet been carried out. Objective: To know the development of published articles on pulpotomy in primary teeth from 1960 to 2017. Material and methods: an electronic bibliographic search was performed including articles in English, available in full text in electronic version. The bibliometric indicators analyzed were: chronological distribution of the documents, productivity by journals, by authors/article, by countries, by institutions, by type of article, by thematic content, number of authors/article, number of citations received/article and number of bibliographic references. Results: 204 articles published in 39 journals were included, only one third were specialized in Pediatric Dentistry. Of the first signatories, 80.23% were linked to a university. The mean number of authors/article was 2.85 from 30 different countries. Fifty percent of the papers were non-randomized clinical studies and 82.84% sought the best material to treat the remaining root pulp. The countries with the highest number of publications were the United States (n=40) and India (n=38). Conclusions: The production of articles on pulpotomy in primary dentition and the number of journals where they were published increased progressively in the decades studied, as did the number of authors. Clinical studies were predominant in the search for the best alternative for the treatment of the remaining pulp. The main place of the research were universities. Emerging countries have gained prominence in world scientific production on the analyzed subject.

Resumen
Cornelia de Lange Syndrome (SCDL) is a genetic abnormality with a prevalence of 1: 62,000-1: 45,000 of births. It is mainly attributed to mutations in the NIPBL, SMC3 and SMC1A genes. It is characterized by presenting general physical alterations, cognitive and language alteration; and orofacial features such as sinofridia, hirsutism, there is also malocclusion, delayed eruption, crowding, anodontia, limb malformation, prenatal and postnatal developmental delay, and other congenital malformations. Objective: To analyze the case of a patient with Cornelia de Lange syndrome and its relationship with some findings reported in the literature, especially dental eruption. We present a 2-year-old and 5-month-old female nursing patient from Valencia with a genetic diagnosis of Cornelia de Lange Syndrome, plumbemia, and biliary lithiasis, who attended the Pediatric Dentistry Postgraduate consultation at the University of Carabobo for presenting delay in tooth eruption. Clinical history, general clinical examination where psychomotor retardation, language and phenotypic characteristics of the syndrome are observed. Clinical intraoral evaluation shows gingival ridges with normal insertion of braces and absence of teeth (delayed eruption). The dental eruption can be affected in patients diagnosed with Cornelia de Lange Syndrome, both in its chronology and in the eruption sequence.

Resumen
Fear and anxiety are emotions almost always present in dental appointments, especially during anesthesia. The aim of this study was to verify the degree of anxiety of children and their parents during dental anesthesia. 10 children were selected, aged between 3 and 7 years old and who needed to undergo local anesthesia to perform a dental procedure. As an inclusion criterion, all children had never undergone anesthesia and it was necessary that the application of anesthesia was in the same region for all children. To complement the study and verify the influence of parents, a questionnaire was applied to better understand the dental experience that the parents had already had and thus try to associate it with their children's behavior. During anesthesia, parents were also monitored using a digital pulse oximeter. We conclude Parents and guardians have a great influence on the reactions of children during dental care, which can thus directly affect the child's treatment.
