This research addresses a nature tourism modality, with the capacity to integrate the population, protect natural resources and promote sustainable tourism. The main objective was to design an interpretive trail in the Joa commune, belonging to Jipijapa. To carry out the study, several methodological aspects were incorporated, such as the application of empirical methods and Geographic Information Systems to exemplify the proposed design. By virtue of the aforementioned, a georeferenced route was created, with technical data that allowed analyzing the viability and accessibility of the path. Likewise, the route was made up of stops distributed with relevant information about the commune under study. No less important, the main floristic and faunal resources were inventoried, which serve to be considered in the tourist offer on the interpretive trail. For this reason, it was concluded that the Joa commune has abundant resources that can allow the interpretive trail to influence the local socioeconomic dynamics, and be a reference for this type of tourism in the area, as well as the cooperation that the local population has for participate in tourism.

Intellectual capital is the combination of material and intangible assets held by companies, including human talent knowledge, the capacity to constantly learn and adapt to the changing business environment, as well as relationships with customers and suppliers. The aim of this research is to analyze the management of intellectual capital and its relevant aspects in generating competitive advantage in small and medium-sized commercial enterprises in the city of Milagro located in the province of Guayas, Ecuador. The applied methodology is quantitative, with an exploratory and descriptive approach. A survey was conducted with 90 managers who voluntarily agreed to complete the questionnaire related to the subject under analysis. The results show that these companies focus more on relational capital by engaging in activities to retain their customers and on organizational capital by prioritizing technology and infrastructure as the main options for business development.

In the present work, a model was estimated for the soda consumption expenditure of the inhabitants of Pedernales in Manabí-Ecuador, identifying the economic problems of the sector, with the objective of constructing an econometric model and determining the variables that are most relevant, in addition to the social trends in the consumption preferences of the sector. A descriptive methodology was used, reconciling a qualitative and quantitative approach in the research instrument used (survey). The results of the study provided a perspective of the econometric model, independent of income level and family consumption. The expenditure on sugar-sweetened soft drinks presents a significant value with respect to p =0.0052, and the corrected R2 of the model explained 71.9% making the model acceptable. The relevance of the econometric model is found in relation to the acceptance and marketing proposals made by these companies to promote their effective sales.

Research that includes metric studies and network analysis in its methodology has been evolving over time within the international scientific community, and Costa Rica is no exception. The objective of this research was to learn about the collaborative networks with which the authors of the journal Actualidades Investigativas en Educación work during the period 2001-2019, in order to analyze their evolution. This experience was carried out from a quantitative methodology from the Analysis of Social Networks (ARS) and Metric Studies of Information (EMI), specifically the degree and mediation and scientific collaboration indicators respectively. Some interesting results reveal that the amount of academic production is not always related to the level of mediation of an author; that the journal does not have a static or constant collaboration network in its publication dynamics; that the geographical factor was not an impediment to collaboration between countries. In addition, the first 20 nodes with the highest degree and mediation value were identified, as well as the fact that women are the medium through which most information flows in the overall network. It is concluded that collaborative network analyses together with metric studies are an excellent combination to know the development, evolution and progress in terms of academic collaboration within a scientific journal.

The percentage of members of the Mexican National System of Researchers (SNI) in the field of economics with publications indexed in canonical commercial bibliometric databases (BCCs, Web of Science, and Scopus) was estimated for the periods 1982–1998, 1999–2015, and 2016–2020. Previous studies determined that the evaluation mechanisms for entering the system have undergone changes during these three periods, with the valuation of publications indexed in the CBBs increasing, which should be reflected in an increase in the presence of SNI authors in these databases. However, it has also been demonstrated worldwide that the social sciences in general are poorly represented in BCCs. The present results show that, in fact, the economic research of SNI members is represented in BCCs in proportions similar to those of the social sciences in several European countries, Canada, and Australia: around 40% in WoS and 50% in Scopus. A high percentage of Mexican researchers with publications in these databases who do not belong to the SNI were also found, in line with previous studies on the evolution of the Mexican academic profession in general, which reported a much higher percentage of full-time academics with scientific publications compared to the percentage of academics belonging to the system. The method of searching for SNIs in the BCCs developed for this study is an original implementation of the Author Name Disambiguation (AND) problem.

The study characterizes the conceptual and procedural elements to be considered for the management of collections with a gender perspective in public libraries in Chile, within a context lacking national guidelines, as there is no public policy on the matter. It is a descriptive study using a qualitative methodology with a phenomenological approach. The sample is non-probabilistic and intentional. The data collection techniques used were documentary research and semi-structured interviews, while the data analysis technique was qualitative content analysis. The study's results show that the scientific production and local initiatives aimed at managing collections with a gender perspective are insufficient. Therefore, it is necessary to consider various conceptual and procedural elements to develop a methodology that enables the management of collections that respond to the local needs of public library users, through participatory processes that involve different stakeholders in the system, creating strategies to raise awareness among professional and technical staff. Additionally, the need for a national collection management policy for the public library system is emphasized, one that decentralizes the process and addresses the specific needs of each community.

This study aims to analyze the scientific production on gamification in initial teacher education (ITE) during the period 2015-2023 in order to contribute to the understanding of the current state of research on gamification in ITE, identify trends and gaps in research in this area. The method consists of a thematic collection and analysis of a total of 83 scientific articles out of 479 published in journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science. The selection was made according to the PRISMA model. As results, from the bibliometric analysis we obtained data on the characteristics of the publications on the subject treated and in the thematic analysis, four relevant categories of study were observed. It is concluded that, worldwide scientific production on gamification in IDF is scarce and it is suggested to continue researching on gamification as a transformative tool in the training of future teachers and in education in general, due to its potential to significantly improve the quality and effectiveness of school education.

Empirical studies suggest that credit constraints prevent the development of Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs). This study contributes to the analysis by exploring whether higher regional financial development affects the creation and growth of MSEs in Peru. Based on four cross-sectional databases, mainly the 2018 National Household Survey on Living Conditions and Poverty, this paper finds that there is a positive impact on entrepreneur profits; however, the effect is negative on the likelihood of running a business. Interactions between informality and financial frictions may explain this result. Informal financing emerges as an alternative in this context. This study addresses endogeneity issues by using the number of commercial bank branches per 1,000 inhabitants in 1995 as an instrument of the degree of regional financial development in 2018.
