Resumen
This paper examines some of the literary representations of grandparents and grandchildren in children's literature published in Portugal after 2000. Some of these texts are from Portuguese authors; others are from authors that have been translated to Portuguese language. Among the set of selected texts, there are several major semantic features: the intergenerational complicity, the great affection between grandparents and their children and the vision of the elderly as initiators of the younger into the knowledge of world.

Nowadays the right to education is taken for granted. However, the fight to make it as accepted has been hard but essential, especially in the case of women. For a long time women have been imprisoned in their own homes and within their innerselves, as it was considered natural, logical and legal. But human knowledge belongs to everybody, even if it used to be considered a masculine privilege. As a period of crisis and ideological change, the Renaissance replaced the feudal system of lineage with the bourgeois concept of soul and assertiveness. It was then when many women started to write in order to legitimate themselves as intellectuals. Pisan’s defence of female writing and Labé’s call to female intellectual rebellion can be considered as a kind of protofeminism.

Resumen
The study presents an analysis of three books for teaching Spanish language in the Mexican Junior High Educational courses (Secondary level). This research sets two goals: to explore their content and application and to estimate whether this process establishes a suitable precedent for a later academic path. This is based upon the severe limitations observed inreading, writing and speaking in undergraduate and graduate university students. The result poses a dilemma capable of feeding a timely debate, on the one hand, the proposal in terms of content and teaching is ambitious, complex and requires access to sophisticated modern technology and symbolic resources. On the other hand, though it can be effective in areas where it is available, in others and because of the economic reality, it would be excessive, unenforceable and out of context.

Resumen
This contribution addresses the development of sociolinguistic competence in language contact situations focusing mainly on the analysis of a literary work and the training of future teachers. The work covers a broad objective: providing resources and expertise to activate coping strategies and let activities to be prepared to reflect on language use available in varied situations and contexts. The design of our approach is articulated around three axes: the historical, the view of the events of the War of Independence through the figure of the Sagunt-born guerrilla leader José Romeu Parras; literary, theatrical approach (Valencian author and drama of the late nineteenth century); and the analysis of the relationship between language (Valencian and Spanish) and society.

The title and parts of this text have been inspired by the epistolary novel Les liaisons dangereuses by Pierre Choderlos de Lachlos, which can be considered to be an exploration of the ironies of the human condition. The exchange of epistles is between Dr. Alberto Golding and Dr. Manman Touchstone, names inspired by alchemy. Golding is good like gold but malleable; Touchstone was used to test the purity of gold or silver and, in a figurative manner, to ascertain if something or someone is genuine. Besides some criticism of the academia, the fundamental theme of these epistles is antifeminism in the Middle Ages, making references to some contemporary situations. In addition to the writings that reveal misogyny, there is an analysis of fourteenth-century poems on Melusine, a beautiful woman who metamorphoses as a serpent.
