“Modernity” in Málaga fin-de-siècle painting is understood as a pseudo-renovation of realistic and Romantic tradition that refuses decadent extremes as well as the most committed options. La tumba del poeta by Pedro Sáenz presented in 1901 in the National Exhibition reflects better than any other work by this artist the reconciliation aesthetics of academic correctness with moderate fin-de-siècle sensitivity according to majority bourgeois tastes. The following essay deals with the nature of this syncretism that recovers the Greco-Roman mythology to find answers to artistic and vital concerns.

The interest for the recreational uses in the protected natural spaces has provoked new conflicts and environmental impacts. For this reason, it is necessary a suitable planning of these practices. The suitability of these spaces determines that the planning documents should order and manage these activities adequately. Nevertheless, most of the planning and managementdocuments do not have an ideal regulation of them, from a territorial point of view.In this paper it has analyzed the territorial regulation of the recreational practices in the planning documents of the Andalusian Natural Reserves. The existing gaps in the current planning determine the need to develop technics and tools that help to the agents of these protected areas to order the mentioned practices. The studies of carrying capacity are of great interest because they allow determine the real and potential loads that the resources of the recreational practices present.

The most important chapters of Trinitarian Order in Coín run from the 16th-17th centuries. Along this time, its foundation and, later, its move nearer the village, provokes important changes in the city of Antique Regime, where the Order could have had an increasing significance, as well as another one had not far from it, the Augustans. This article tries to give some news about all of those points of view.

This article attempts to help ‘repair’ the literature and idea of American democracy promotion by examining US foreign policy towards Spain during the Nixon and Ford administrations (1969-1976). It sheds light on the ideological implications of US securitypolicy in the multilateral context of the Cold War in Europe. In the process, this article probes US security policy of each administration by focusing on Spanish-American bases negotiations in the context of the Atlantic alliance or NATO. More importantly, it highlights the role each of the US administrations played in promoting democracy in Spain by tracing the problem of succession before and after General Franco’s death. This article concludes that American security interests in Spain could not be unilaterally served without multilaterally satisfying the European allies that required the democratization of Spain.

In the present article we deal with the sugar industry in Marbella across the study of the “Trapiche del Prado”. This establishment constructed in the 17th century belonged to the Inquisición that exploited it in regime of lease. The comparison of the current material remains with the function of the spaces described in the documentation of the 18th century relative to the maintenance of the building allows to establish the primitive morphology of the establishment in relation to the process of the sugar manufacture in the preindustrial stage and the evolution of the used technology.

Se realizó un estudio con 14 pacientes portadores de nefritis lúpica proliferativa difusa que acudieron a la consulta de nefrología del Hospital Manuel Ascunce Domenech, Camagüey, Cuba, desde enero de 2000 hasta el 31 de junio de 2002. El objetivo del trabajo consistió en evaluar la efectividad clínica de la ciclofosfamida en bolos en el tratamiento de esta enfermedad, para comprobar su acción inmunosupresora y establecer los efectos adversos que pueden presentarse. Se analizaron las características clínicas fundamentales de los pacientes, las pruebas complementarias de laboratorio, así como la calcificación morfológica, el cambio de patrón y los índices de actividad y cronicidad en el momento del diagnóstico. El 57, 1 % de los pacientes presentó reacciones adversas, las más frecuentes fueron las náuseas y los vómitos.

Se realizó un estudio descriptivo y transversal desde el 1ro de enero de 2001 al 1ro. de enero de 2003, en el Hospital Clínico-Quirúrgico Docente Manuel Ascunce Domenech de la ciudad de Camagüey, con el objetivo de conocer algunos aspectos de la enfermedad cerebrovascular en pacientes fallecidos menores de 65 años. Se reportó una alta prevalencia a partir de la cuarta década de vida y en el sexo masculino. La hipertensión arterial fue el principal factor de riesgo; la cefalea, el deterioro del estado de conciencia y el déficit motor fueron las principales manifestaciones clínicas. La Tomografía Computarizada tuvo utilidad diagnóstica en un 56, 52 % de los pacientes isquémicos y en el 44, 87 % de los hemorrágicos. El edema cerebral fue la complicación y la causa más frecuente de muerte, la localización más reportada fue a nivel de los ganglios basales y el hemisferio cerebral derecho. La neuro protección fue la terapéutica más utilizada.

Se presenta un caso de una paciente de 31 años que acudió al Servicio de Patología de Cuello de nuestro hospital, remitida desde el servicio de Nefrología del Hospital Provincial Clínico-Quirúrgico Manuel Ascunce Domenech, por condilomatosis múltiples perianal y vulvar que le impedían ocasionalmente sus funciones vitales. Fue evaluada en la consulta donde se corroboró el diagnóstico de condiloma acuminado (infección por papiloma virus humano (PVH). En adición, llamó la atención durante el examen físico el hallazgo de una zona despigmentada y pruriginosa en el tercio medio del labio menor izquierdo cuyas imágenes colposcópicas impresionaban lesión por carcinoma. Se le realizó resección parcial de dicha zona para estudio histológico y se confirmó la sospecha de la existencia de carcinoma in situ en labio menor. Convencidos de que no había infiltración se realizó la resección completa de la zona por fuera de los bordes de la lesión.

Se realizó un ensayo clínico fase II, para evaluar la eficacia del tratamiento con láser He-Ne en defectos óseos periodontales mediante la digitalización de imágenes, en la Clínica Estomatológica Provincial Docente Camagüey de junio de 1999 a junio de 2000. Se estudiaron 19 pacientes según criterios de inclusión y exclusión, que se agruparon aleatoriamente en dos grupos: estudio y control, con 10 y 9, respectivamente. Ambos grupos recibieron la preparación inicial, se confeccionó un cuestionario para determinar profundidad de bolsa, índice de análisis de higiene bucal de Love e índice de sangrado de Mühleman y luego se realizó el tratamiento quirúrgico indicado. Al grupo estudio se le aplicaron 10 sesiones de láser con parámetros regenerativos durante el acto quirúrgico y nueve postoperatorio, tres veces por semana. Se evolucionaron a los tres y seis meses con exámenes clínicos y radiografías periapicales procesadas por digitalización de imágenes. Los resultados revelan la efectividad del láser He-Ne en la reparación de defectos óseos periodontales, así como la exactitud de la digitalización de imágenes.
