Resumen
The latin-american contents published at brazilian press are, basically, supplied by transnational news agencies; even so those agencies work with a journalistic framing seeking the north american and europeans audiences. The internet resource, which in thesis allows an easy consultation with no charge to different sources of information, including the latin-american news sites, did not change the professional routines, and consequently did not represented for the Brazilian lectors a new information framing. At the brazilian press there is no much news about Latin-America region, and the little information provided is charged with sensationalism and grotesque looking, privileging a negative editorial treatment.

Resumen
The deep contradictions inherent to the bilateral relationship between Mexico and the United States are even more visible at the border that separates these countries. This may be observed in their journalism, which reflects and reinforces images and stereotypes that have an influence on how those who live on the other side of the border are perceived. Through the analysis of the contents of news pieces, advertisements and classified ads in El Mexicano, we seek for guidelines to discuss the representation of San Diego in the press of Tijuana and to suggest connections with historical trends and current cultural practices in the region.

Resumen
This paper follows the lead of some of the findings of the author’s previous research, which seeks to learn about and identify the structural characteristics that define the production of knowledge on communication within the research done by the Working Teams gt (Grupos de Trabajo) of the Latin American Association of Communication Researchers (alaic) between 1998 and 2004. Among the salient features of the relationship and the weight that embody the structure of the scientific practices and strategies in the production of gt-17 of alaic is the relationship between its scientific assets and the main perspective of communication studies embraced by the collective under study: a socio-cultural and cross-disciplinary perspective of the study of communication in Latin America.

Resumen
It is argued in this essay that fictional drama in the Tv screen is becoming more and more a simple commodity. If five decades ago, one of the key marks of Mexican Tv drama was its strong cultural identity, and in fact the audience’s self recognition in their plots made them so attractive and unique as media products, today telenovelas are central part of mayor merchandizing media campaigns, where ratings –audience´s consumption–, not audience´s cultural identification, is the most important criterion for its industrial production. By exemplifying with “Rebelde”, a successful telenovela produced in Mexico, the discussion in this paper emphasizes the formal, aesthetic, narrative and industrial changes.

Resumen
In the year 2010 there will be an “analogical blackout” in Spain. Institutions, television networks, media corporations, as well as program producers and distributors, are preparing to take the leap into the digital decade. Some recent measures have led to the appearance of new analogical channels, while more and more licenses for digital broadcasting have been granted. However, networks have not made a full commitment to designing and offering contents that will awaken the interest of viewers in the new digital television, mainly due to financial considerations.

This article describes comparative research done on photographs of native indigenous people taken by indigenous and non-indigenous photographers. A discourse analysis is conducted to explore the various images of indigenous people that have been constructed and their relevance to social interaction rituals.

Resumen
Los resultados de este artículo son producto de una investigación mayor sobre participación política. En él se analizan los discursos de jóvenes universitarios respecto de la formación ciudadana recibida en la escuela, en su vínculo con la participación política. Se realizaron tres focus group con estudiantes de primer año de carreras de la Universidad del Bío-Bío, Chile. Los resultados apuntan que la visión de los jóvenes sobre la formación recibida es más bien crítica. Por un lado, se identifica la necesidad de una formación ciudadana, que permite abordar la complejidad de la actividad política. Por otro, se constata que la formación escolar no responde a esta necesidad, puesto que se califica como deficiente y sesgada. Para los estudiantes, la educación debe asumir un rol politizador, entregando insumos para incidir en el cambio social. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.22518/16578953.283
