This study on audiences in film festivals in Chile establishes four analytic categories of audiences, according to cultural consumption habits: real, transitory, potential and specific audiences, after a research based on a mixed methodology – interviews, survey and observation in-situ in 6 film festivals, with participation of different actors in the national audio-visual area, such as the public sector, industry, workers and artists, distribution, festivals and audiences, and their perspective over the audience development. This allowed us to observe the lack of coordination or common project between them, as the difference between calling strategies in each festival and their disparity in results, which, in some cases, there is very little knowledge about their audiences and, on the other hand, others have much more conscience about it.

This paper presents the results of the unintended effects for the domestic violence campaign: “Maricón es el que maltrata a una mujer”. The campaign was held by the Government of Chile from October 28th to November 25th, 2010. The purpose of this study is twofold: on one side, it analyses reader’s international comments posted on two international newspapers online from the UK and Colombia; and on the other, it assess the impact of this campaign considering the unintended effects of Cho and Salmon (2007). Although the results of his campaign were not favorable, this initiative caused controversy by the use of the word “maricón”. Unintended effects need to be considerate to achieve an effective campaign that contributes to prevent violence in women’s health.

In this article we analyze the media treatment given to the news about the international day against gender-based violence in the journal El Norte de Castilla between the years 2000 to 2013. In particular, we aim to break down the approach given to the news of this anniversary, and determine whether the recommended guidelines for reporting gender-based violence news are followed, as well as to analyse whether the evolving social and legal aspects in gender issues have been adopted by the journal over time. The main sources used for this research are the journal contents with regards to the mentioned subject and a series of interviews that aim for a deeper understanding of the politic, mass media and social reality of the gender-based violence in Spain.

Gender construction causes unequal relationships of power between men and women, making a kind of violence that has special influence in domestic space. Realistic cinematography, like Italian Neorealism or the origins of New Chilean Cinema have filmed small things, showing domestic indoors and the unequal relations of gender; but, at the same time, this kind of cinemas have been contemporaries to historic moments when women started to have presence in public space. Some films will be between the consequences of gender construction and the desire of finish i

The use of social networks not only has communicational implications, but also has influence in the relationships established in terms of gender, sexuality and identity. Through the use of social networks, we can observe how teenager couples are developing control mechanisms which go unnoticed among the youth, and these are even considered as a proof of love. According to the results obtained through 457 questionnaires and 10 personal interviews with spanish teens, all between 13 and 18 years old, we have analyzed how the use of social networks goes beyond the contents they are sharing and how it affects on the perpetuation of the sex-gender discourse, which takes part in the origin of gender violence.

In this paper we approach to the senses that, argentine newspapers, in the case of Clarín and La Nación, adjudge to gender violence. In the last years, the problem has become very visible. This represents an achievement of women's and feminist movements in alliance with journalists committed to trying to influence the agenda of the media, by incorporating these issues. However, their treatment requires our attention because gender violence has specific implications on the lives of women and, tendentious, biased and androcentric treatment contributes to the naturalization of this violence. The role of the mass media is essential.

The present article approaches the discourse building by two Chilean newspapers around aspirant women to Congreso Nacional for the period 2014 to 2018.From a gender perspective and through a critical discourse analysis, was studied the news of the La Tercera and Las Últimas Noticias newspapers about the women parliamentary candidates during 2013 campaign. The results show that communication media are highly (re)producers of symbolic violence which make invisible, discredit, and trivialize to the women who fight for votes for a seat in the State’s legislative arm on the one hand and on asihe other hand, they emphasize the particularities from the female nature as a contribution to Parliament. It strengthens the masculine character of the politic in Chile.

In mid-2011, the performance "The Nation and the Domestic," was born as part of a reflexive process of gender relations in the context of the mining conflict in the Choapa Valley, which for years has been held between the company Los Pelambres and the local communities. This performance was conceived in the first instance from the impotence caused by watching the marginalization of women living in this territory; marginalization that directly impacts their knowledge about mining and the decisions that affect the future of the Valley. The following year, the performance was shared with the community, opening a space for conversation that made visible the issue of gender relations and how they also affect this research. This paper, through the narration of the previous experience of the researcher, a performance, and the analysis of reactions, looks to establish a reflection on methodological practices of those researching and the need to recognize the "I" as part of the process of knowledge creation.
