Introduction. The satisfaction of communities with the coverage of their basic needs and the performance of municipal governments should be considered in development plans. Perceptions were evaluated in two rural communities in Honduras. Methods. A 16-question questionnaire was surveyed on access to drinking water, infrastructure, basic education, management of municipal authorities and aspects related to living conditions. We interviewed 114 families from two adjacent communities in the Municipality of Guaimaca, Francisco Morazán, who were attended by a medical brigade. Results. 91% of families reported access to water -especially well water-, 22% had children who did not go to school, 79% reported having houses built with adequate materials and 71% of the heads of household were employed. Literacy contributed to the likelihood that heads of household had paid work. Forty-three percent of households had indicators of being below the poverty line. Only 19% were aware of the existence of support from the mayor's office for entrepreneurship and 62% felt that external development assistance was not being sought. Requests to the mayor's office included roads, transportation and equipped health service. Conclusion. The majority of families reported poor conditions, as well as high expectation combined with high dissatisfaction about municipal government performance. Public officials should consider these opinions.

Introduction. Service management analysis is essential to improve the quality of the service. The study aim was to identify patient satisfaction regarding the quality of service in a health center with ophthalmological service in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Methods. A quantitative study was carried out in November 2017. The Servqual instrument was applied, following a strategic logistics base of the service (the Servuction). The information was complemented with interviews to operational and managerial personnel. Results. Of 340 patients older than 18 years, 135 (40%) were over 60 years old, 255 (75%) were women, 282 (83%) accompanied by caregivers, attending a subsequent consultation (82%). The economic income revealed a high rate of poverty and low education (76%). Regarding the service perception, almost 300 patients (88%) evaluated it as totally satisfactory. However, in the calculation of the patient satisfaction index the value was -0.51 (PSI = perceptions - expectations), at the expense of a low rating in the response capacity. This indicated that there is a debt to satisfy all the demand. In general, the evaluated dimensions averaged 98% (4.90 based on 5) for expectations and 88% (4.4) for perceptions. Conclusion. Patients had a positive image of the services offered, which gives it an affirmative positioning, although there is a debt in the response capacity to satisfy all the demand.

Introduction. There is an increase in the prevalence of neurological disorders. An adequatetraining of medical neurology personnel is an imperative task. The phenomenon of neurophobia can affect proper learning and even aspirations to be a neurology specialist. Methods. A cross-sectional study was carried out through a questionnaire to evaluate the perception of students about medical specialties and factors that contribute to the difficulty of neurology. The questionnaire was distributedthrough social media groups of medical students. Excel was used for the management and tabulation of the answers obtained and SPSS for data analysis. Results. In relation to an interest in specialties (high interest), the most frequent specialties were cardiology 37.3% (22) and neurology 20.3% (15). The complexity of neuroanatomy 42.4% (25) and little contact with neurological patients 40.7% (24) were the factors that contributed to the difficulty of neurology. Conclusion. The traditional teacher-centered teaching model is prone to neglect essential tools such as neurology laboratories, standardized patient simulation, and essential contact with neurological patients. There is an important need to implement new teaching methodologies in neurology and greater contact with neurological patients.

Introduction. Route vendors in Tegucigalpa and Comayagüela are exposed daily to being victims of criminal acts that may result in economic or material losses. However, less evident is the deterioration in attitudes when working under this condition. The study was to explore the consequences that intrusive workplace violence has on the attitudes towards work of this population. Methods. The grounded theory method was used, through a semi-structured in-depth interview and with a non-probabilistic sampling that included nine vendors from five companies. The sampling technique was by snowball through the references that the participants gave about co-workers who could be part of the study. In addition, purposive sampling was used by directly contacting potential participants for the study. Results. Consequences at the organizational level included absenteeism, decreased productivity, poor performance, and negative attitudes at work. In this study, the participants perceived the companies´ lack of empathy, poor handling of adverse circumstances and lack of openness toward the employee's opinion. Conclusion. Poor organizational support was perceived, while satisfaction and commitment are less linked to the situation of violence. These two attitudes seem to be more linked to stability, salary, seniority, and career development.

Introduction. The development of women in politics allows us to visualize how feminization influences the Latin American socio-political landscape. The study´s aim was to analyze the political discourses of a current president and two former presidents: Xiomara Castro from Honduras, Cristina Fernández from Argentina, and Dilma Rousseff from Brazil. Methods. A qualitative analysis was used by describing and interpreting political discourses and conducting interviews to experts. Results. Various similarities were evident between the discourses of Xiomara Castro, Cristina Fernández, and Dilma Rousseff such as the strategies employed in their discourses and the feminization in them, their most recurrent themes, their position regarding their opposition, among other aspects. Conclusion. Feminization in Latin American politics still has a long way to go because we live in societies with immutable gender roles, where masculinity bases persist.

In Honduras, it was common for shopping centers and offices to spray disinfectants on the skin and clothes, as well as the use of disinfectant mats. Additionally, there was the practice of spraying car tires and tunnels were also installed for spraying cars, until it was discouraged due to cost and lack of scientific evidence. It is necessary to inform and raise awareness among citizens so that they refrain from using practices that have no evidence of being useful in combating the spread of SARS-CoV-2 and that may be harmful to their health and the environment.

Introduction. Sports are the propitious scenarios to build social dynamics, such as identity, nationalism, and sense of belonging. Practices are also charged with a certain degree of aggressiveness in sports, with a ritually accepted violence and emulated scenarios of controlled violence for society. The study was to understand how soccer became an imaginary of masculinity and violence, using the sports clubs as a socializing agent. Methods. Two structured interviews were conducted to two leading members of the hooligans of the Olimpia and Motagua sports clubs in Honduras. A critical analysis discourse was applied. The interviews were carried out during August 2018. Results. The h were found as channelling agents of a symbolic and controlled violence, which allows them to demonstrate their identity, fidelity, and masculinity in sports settings. Conclusion. A sense of identity and belonging was reflected by the members of the sports clubs to their teams, related to the construction of an imagined masculinity that is expressed through violence in sports settings.
