This study aims to understand how the relationship between information mediation and information competencies can contribute to the process of construction/deconstruction of reality and truth in a pandemic scenario. It was characterized as research of qualitative nature, descriptive, of content analysis. Bibliographical, exploratory and documental. Advanced search with the terms “mediação de informação AND competência em informação” were made on Portal CAPES, at Biblioteca Digital Brasileira de Teses e Dissertações and at the Base de dados em Ciência da Informação, between 2016 and 2020. The analysis of the thirteen articles mined resulted in the finding of the need for: collaborative, educational, awareness-raising, sharing and use of information, valuing information based on studies and contexts; studies, projects and works of critical and conscious information mediation; construction of competencies in information and skills in dealing with fake news, infobesity and manipulated information through informational policies, essentially focused on the pandemic context.

Knowledge of the scientific production on technology transfer allows the identification of the state of researches on the subject worldwide. For this purpose, a bibliometric study of the scientific production on technology transfer present in indexed serial publications, during the period 2015-2020, was carried out. Theoretical, empirical and statistical methods of scientific research were used; as well as the analysis in different information sources (ScienceDirect, Springer Link, Google Scholar, Dialnet and Dimensions). The behavior of publications by years, authors, institutions, countries and publications was determined, as well as collaboration relationships. Computer tools such as Excel, ToolInf and Ucinet were used for data processing. The indicators obtained allow the construction of theoretical frameworks that support strategies and processes related to technology transfer.

COVID-19 is a disease that includes, among its sequelae, neurological affectations. Studies for its treatment require magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), obtained from patients with COVID-19. Therefore, it is necessary to have data to perform studies on the correlation between SARS-CoV-2 disease and neurological affections. This work aims to report the existence of databases with magnetic resonance neuroimaging of patients with COVID-19 in the period 2020-2021. For this purpose, a search for articles on COVID-19 published in PubMed and Science.gov databases between December 2019 and September 2021 was performed. The results demonstrated the scarce presence of online databases with MRI neuroimaging including subjects with COVID-19 and in the recovery stage. Given the situation created by this pandemic, there is a need for greater collaboration among neuroinvestigators, starting with the publication of accessible data.

The editorial management of a scientific journal is a complex process that goes through several moments, which require organization and coherence to achieve proper effectiveness. The establishment of the operational principles for a scientific journal is the basis for defining its working policies. These policies are the essence of editorial management and journals’ actions derive from them. This document describes some of the essential policies that a scientific journal should have. The objective is to provide scientific journals’ editors with some elementary tools for constructing their own policies, based on the best practices of this activity at an international level.

The National Health System bases its scientific-technical information management work on the National Health Sciences Information System (SNICS, as per its initials in spanish). The fact of working as a system leads to have an organization and control of the research work, in order not to duplicate efforts and to share the work among each of its researchers. The objective of this paper is to describe the Research Portal and to have it respond to the main problems and research results in the context of SNICS as there is no tool that makes it possible to control important variables such as researchers, lines of research, projects being worked on, completed research and the problem bank of each of the institutions belonging to this system. This site is being operated in a cooperative manner in the data collection and description with the participation of the institutions of national subordination that have researchers and research projects and the provincial centers of information in Medical Sciences. Designed in Drupal, with four repositories supported in the CWIS storage system, it has intended to be the point of liaison, control and organization of research in the management of scientific-technical information in health. The portal is designed for the organization and control of SNICS research and constitutes a source of information that must be consulted during the research process.

The purpose of the study was to analyze Facebook publications and perceptions of users, expressed in their comments, about the drug ivermectin during the COVID-19 pandemic in Peru. The publications and their comments were selected by manual search using the terms “ivermectin” and “#ivermectin” in July 2020. Interpretation of publications and their comments was performed by conventional qualitative content analysis with inductive processing and supported by scientific literature. A total 17 publications were retrieved from the period extending from 18 May to 7 July 2020. These were classified into five topics: rumors (58.8%), based on scientific evidence (11.8%), caution (11.8%), production of the drug (11.8%) and confrontation (5.9%). Paradoxically, 70.0% of the rumors were spread by mass media pages. Comments, on the other hand, were classified into four topics based on user perceptions: ivermectin as “effective cure” (64.8%), request for information about ivermectin (25.3%), against the use of ivermectin (6.3%) and other treatments (3.6%). As a conclusion, it was found that more than half of the information about ivermectin circulating in Facebook publications is classified as “rumors”, and most is spread by mass media pages. Analysis of the comments found that user perception considers ivermectin to be the “effective cure” against COVID-19.

Infodemiology and infovigilance are computer methods for the analysis and monitoring of Internet data, and allow awareness of situations and creation of health policies. This study aimed to analyze the search trends for chlorine dioxide and equivalent terms on the Internet (chlorine dioxide solution, CDS; miracle mineral solution, MMS), in relation to COVID-19 morbidity and mortality in eight Latin American countries. Google Trends was used for this purpose; the period reviewed was from March 1st to November 25th 2020. The 7-day moving average for relative search volume (VRB), morbidity and mortality rate were calculated. For the association of quantitative variables, the Spearman correlation coefficient was used with a significance level p < 0.05. The country with the highest search interest was Bolivia; the one with the least interest, Brazil. The analysis of the VRB with the morbidity and mortality rate was different between countries. The maximum VRB peaks of Colombia and Chile, in April, and of Mexico, Ecuador and Bolivia, in July, coincided with the issuance of health alerts on chlorine dioxide. Most showed a moderate and low significant correlation between VRB and the number of confirmed cases and daily deaths from COVID-19. The behavior of the searches, differentiated between countries, could indicate greater interest in the topic of chlorine dioxide during the pandemic; this would be explained by the dissemination of health alerts from international, regional and local health agencies.
