Some Aspects of the Theology of Chilean Bishops Participating in the Second Vatican Council

In the historical and theological literature about the Second Vatican Council there are abundant references to the Chilean episcopate participation. The present theological study, taking into consideration the recorded Chilean interventions inside of the Acta Synodalia, seeks to note those that had more significant relationship with the doctrine on bishops. In this sense, not only is the material relevant to the constitution on the Church, but also other schemes, such as the one about missionary activity and that concerning the pastoral office of bishops. The Chilean suggestions that had some degree of participation in the established text are also presented, through the comparison of schemes in their various stages and the respective commission relatio. The results are exposed in three main areas: fullness of the sacrament of Orders; own faculties, not granted; and Episcopal Collegiality inside the mission of the Church and new structures.

Migrants in the Old Testament: Acceptance or Rejection?

This paper aims to show how migrants are presented in the Old Testament and if it is possible to establish a global position in this regard in terms of their acceptance or rejection. To do this, the terminology used is analyzed and a range of texts related to a universalist framework or horizon and others representative of the aforementioned trends are examined, in order to then present a balance of the analysis and conclude with some clues for today.

Have you ever kept a diary of your personal life? For many people, keeping a written record of their experiences, thoughts, feelings, travels or encounters with people is a common practice. For others, it is not. Perhaps for some it is something completely foreign. For Russian Orthodox priest Alexander Schmemann it was clearly not. His diary, two volumes of almost 600 pages each, has given an insight into the life, worries, joys and even disappointments of one of the most influential theologians of the 20th century. On this occasion we would like to refer to the first volume and scrutinize a little of what this work brings to the world today.

El discernimiento vocacional según Karl Rahner

Este artículo presenta la comprensión del discernimiento vocacional de Karl Rahner. Reconociendo el problema en la eclesiología, la teología moral y la espiritualidad, su punto de partida fueron los Ejercicios Espirituales de san Ignacio. Rahner comprende el discernimiento como un “experimento de la consolación”, por el cual se reconoce la congruencia entre la orientación personal fundamental hacia Dios y una determinada decisión. La crítica principal a esta comprensión apunta a la aparente ausencia de Jesucristo, pero puede ser contrarrestada al considerar el carácter crístico de la antropología y teología de la gracia rahnerianas.
