This work examines the function of the irreligious formula ὁ τῆς Ἑλλάδος ἀλιτήριος (‘cursed offender of Greece’), known only in the speeches of Aeschines (Against Ctesiphon) and Dinarchus (Against Demosthenes). Both authors conceptualise this vehement criticism of Demosthenes, seeking to condemn the consequences of his entire public career. We will attempt to define the semantic scope of this formula, taking into account the historical-political context in which these speeches were composed. Furthermore, we will verify its deep link with several rhetorical and stylistic devices.

The theme of the article is the concept of letter in the humanistic grammar of the 16th century, which derives from an adaptation of the concept of 'litera' in Latin grammar. To develop this debate, we work with texts by Fernão de Oliveira, João de Barros and Anchieta, analyzing them according to the theoretical description of Sylvain Auroux, Konrad Koerner and Pierre Swiggers, on the subject of grammatization technology in the Western world.

The aim of this paper is to analyze the exordium of Basil of Caesarea’s Hexaemeron. Its elaboration is crafted in two parts, the first one as an exordium that fills the expected purposes of rhetoric, while the second one belongs to the particular construction of an encomium of Moses, because it is a «miniature» that fulfills to the minimum extent the stipulated topoi of classical rhetoric. This brief encomium at the same time is part of the exegetic argumentation on Genesis 1, 1: «In the beggining God created the heaven and the earth».

Photius’ Bibliotheca is a compulsory reference work for the scholars of Greek Antiquity in general, and of its language. The attention received is greater than other writings of that time because it preserves texts and linguistic information of various kinds. However, multiple factors in the editorial task, whether due to bias, error, or omission, led to fix readings without consideration of the main manuscripts or linguistics parameters of the period. The objective of this paper is to demonstrate that the establishment of five readings in some chapters of the Bibliotheca is unfounded and their amendment is required. With this, the scope is to warn about these changes foreign to the work, and to initiate new discussions about the way in which this type of writings is treated.

The article focuses on a small group of Minoan inscribed jewellery, examining the hypothesis that the written message they carry, and which is still unknown to us, reinforces their possible apotropaic function.

Consumer xenocentrism, the belief that the foreign is preferred over the local, is a relatively new construct in the broader country of origin literature. We extend the study of consumer xenocen- trism to Paraguay (South America), an often bypassed and un- derstudied emerging market. Through a purposive survey of 397 middle- and upper-class Paraguayans in 2022, we uncover the existence of consumer xenocentrism and model its relationship to product judgment of regional powers (Argentina and Brazil) and economic superpowers (China and the United States). Our results indicate a positive and significant relationship between Paraguayan consumer xenocentrism and product judgments of Argentina, Brazil, and the United States, but not for China. Mana- gerial and public policy implications of our findings are discussed.

The objective of the research is to evaluate the financial performance of the Colombian hotel between 2016 and 2021 through the static and trend analysis of accounting indicators and value management. It is found that the average return on equity is negative, but better than that of its analogue with higher sales, due to its lower negative financial leverage, which made it possible to compensate for its less efficacy control of expenditures and its less efficient use of assets. However, the hotel in emerging countries exceeds them in efficacy and efficiency, and with less financial leverage. The Colombian hotel and emerging countries destroy added economic value in the six-year term, although in relative terms it is less in the last one.

This study examines effective financial education teaching skills among a group of elementary school teachers using a specially designed composite financial literacy score. Data were collected via a 31-hour training program. The aggregate score considers financial self-efficacy, subjective financial knowledge, and financial behavior. We find that this score is correlated with net worth, personal finance training and teaching personal finance. In addition, our findings suggest a direct relationship between financial self-efficacy, subjective financial knowledge, and financial satisfaction with higher levels of positive financial behavior. These results contribute to a growing body of literature on financial knowledge since Puerto Rico is usually not included in this type of research in the U.S.
