(Re)visiting the stripped Juana de Aizpuru Gallery helps us to follow in the footsteps of the architect and artist José Ramón Sierra. In recollecting memories, we can verify that as in his recent artistic work, based on the ruins in the historic city of Seville, it again ends up in a damaged packaging presented as a work. We will see how his approach narrates the phenomenological process that occurs and the decomposition that is reached over time, after an initial ruin of the place and its (re)construction or (re)creation. Thus, we note that this understanding of the future is embodied in his work: Ciudad ruina. 9 Casas 1 Catedral (2018-2020). In it, we witness a magical process of moving forward to the future, of vision and divination, and of the path that invites us to his creative discovery.

This article intends to discuss design as an action, the self-portrait as a practice of relational art mechanism based on reflected actions carried out in the project “Mirar(nos)tras” (“Look at (Us/Each) Other”). This proposal is an exhibit/intervention/actions that took place in a setting where feminists meet in Madrid in 2019. This experiment is part of a postdoctoral research project that is implemented with the assistance of Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior, Brasil (CAPES). (Coordination of Improvement of Higher Education Personnel). Originating from the introduction of the proposal, from its background and developments. It discusses the possibility of encountering through the aesthetic experience and the process of image construction, as well as the ways and spaces of resistance and creation of new subjectivity found by diverse women.

The purpose of this paper is to answer the following question, what is art? Firstly, starting with commonality and ending with the proposal of contemporary artwork touching on gender perspective that is defined as a social construction. This is presented to the Asociación Mamarrachxs Queer - AMQ (Outlandish Queer Association) as artists of legal character. Throughout this paper, necessary essential issues are proposed to understand the artistic work proposals such elements as the viewer, action art and social transformation, art, and associationism or archive. For this reason, different artists and role models will be showcased that serve the main thesis. Finally, it is proposed that artistic works conducted by AMQ are centered around values of gender identity and LGTBIQ issues related to social intervention methodologies.

This paper Peito de Pedra* (Stone Chest), is a work in progress in which I propose a reflection on the female body, the sexist stigmas, and chauvinism that are imposed to it. From the Renaissance model with their classic and perfect body, the obscenity imposed to nudity restricted to spaces limited by the Judeo-Christian morality, the alienation of the senses the body produces and its objectification. The aesthetics of this paper are used to represent me and other women producing a conflict that arises from the contact between performance, image and poetry, based on my personal conflicts making possible the existence of my own territory. The images are self-portraits, and portraits of women produced in long exposure; reflections in fragments of mirror sculptures found in museums and streets of various countries; landscapes and objects found in nature; and copyrighted poetry.* https://www.marigemma.com/peito-de-pedra

This article investigates the reminiscences of an absent mother as the genesis of poetics in visual arts. Its purpose is to analyze the approaches that are used in the process of figuring out the absent mother figure in poetic research during the completion of a master’s in Visual Arts from Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, UFSM (Federal University of Santa Maria, FUSM). The methods employed in this research include digital and analogical techniques such as a monotype associated with handmade paper. From an autoethnographic approach, I use as a research technique a visual diary to subsidize the development of figurative projects. The descriptive process which establishes the symbolism of an absent mother figure allows the understanding of the origins of the works, and the procedures that root from personal experiences of the missing mother figure.

The following reflections originate from my pictorial practice. Its purpose is to problematize it from visual body representation and issues that relate to it from a social, cultural and political standpoint. In a sense, the process of the creation becomes relevant as it is considered a task that incites a constant reflection, from theory and critical practice, a pictorial practice that allows me to build other subjectivities, meaning, and existence nowadays.

Urban areas are important contributors to the increase of global CO2 levels due to human activities, but continuous records of CO2 concentration in cities are scarce, especially in the developing world. In this study we present five years of simultaneous, in-situ measurements at a university campus in the south of Mexico City (UNAM) and at a high-altitude station, the Altzomoni atmospheric observatory (ALTZ), 60 km apart from the first site. The characteristics of the daily cycles, seasonality, and long-term trends were extracted from both time series. The features of the daily and seasonal cycles at UNAM are dominated by the dynamics of the boundary layer growth, while the seasonality at Altzomoni is determined by both the local meteorology and the photosynthetic activity of the vegetation. Annual CO2 growth rates of 2.4 and 2.6 ppm yr–1 were estimated for UNAM and Altzomoni, respectively, in close agreement with reported global growth rates and with previous estimates of total column CO2 trends. The simultaneous monitoring at the urban and the mountain sites revealed a regular exchange of air masses between the city and its vicinities. The annual cycle at UNAM shows a secondary CO2 maximum at the end of the dry season, the source of which is yet to be determined, but likely due to incoming air parcels enriched with emissions from agricultural burnings. Likewise, the daily CO2 cycle at ALTZ during the dry season shows evidence of a daily afternoon arrival of polluted air masses from the neighboring urban areas. This study lays the foundation of an upcoming expansion in the CO2 measurement sites and capabilities in the metropolitan area of Mexico City.

Biomass burning (BB) is a common activity in developing countries and has been identified as a serious air pollution threat. The present work for the first time evaluates the air quality of the largest town in the extensive Colombian savannas (250,000 km2), from measurements over three consecutive years (2017-2020). Although the air quality in Villavicencio is good in terms of PM10 and O3 for most of the year, pollution levels for both pollutants exceed the World Health Organization recommended limits during the dry season (February to April). The combination of the Orinoco low-level jet (OLLJ) and BB emissions from the Venezuelan and the Colombian savannas was identified as the main cause of poor air quality episodes during the dry season in this city. Organic carbon derived from reanalysis was identified as the main component of the high PM10 concentrations during the dry season. However, mineral dust and sea salt particles were also found to play an important role in the poor air quality observed in Villavicencio and likely along the Orinoco river basin region. Finally, between November and March, the OLLJ was found to be an efficient mechanism for the transport of air pollutants from the Atlantic Ocean and the savanna regions in the Orinoco River Basin in Venezuela and Colombia towards southern regions of Colombia, and in some cases even reaching Ecuador.

The present study provides a synoptic characterization of South Atlantic Convergence Zone (SACZ) episodes that caused heavy rainfall events (HRE) in the city of Rio de Janeiro (CRJ) between 2006 and 2016. A total of 77 SACZ episodes were identified in the CRJ (SCRJ), which represented 81% of the total SACZ events in Brazil. At least one day of HRE during the SACZ period (SHRE) was found in 37 SCRJ episodes, representing almost half (48%) of the SACZ events in the CRJ. In 68.6% of these cases, the heavy rainfall occurred on the first two days of the SHRE period. The mean synoptic pattern of SHRE showed a cold front in the Atlantic Ocean connected with a low-pressure system located near the coast of Rio de Janeiro state (RJ). The 850 hPa specific humidity showed a dipole pattern with positive anomalies in southeastern Brazil and negative anomalies in southern Brazil since the day before the occurrence of SHRE. An anomalous upper-level ridge in southeastern Brazil was relevant to intensifying the heavy rainfall in the CRJ. The synoptic classification showed four main surface synoptic patterns associated with SHRE. The two most frequent patterns were associated with a cold front close to the coast of RJ, and the other two were related to the presence of an anticyclone with blocking characteristics and to the presence of a weak extratropical cyclone near the coast of RJ.

Bulk deposition was studied along an urbanization gradient in the state of Nuevo Leon, Mexico. During a yearlong period seven sites within the Metropolitan Area of Monterrey (MAM) and two rural sites (Allende and Linares) were monitored, with the purpose of characterizing deposition and identifying possible patterns between sites. A total of 32 rainfall events were collected. An average pH of 7.15 ± 0.02 was found, which indicates the presence of neutralizing substances in rainwater, as well as an average Electrical Conductivity of 153.96 ± 6.83 μS/cm. The annual accumulated deposition follows the descending order Ca> K> Mg> Fe> Zn> Mn> Cu> Cd> Ni and does not show significant differences between urban and rural areas, with the exception of Ca (p = 0.017). The Principal Component Analysis shows that metals (Cu, Zn, Ni, Mn, and Cd) represent an important pathway in the deposition phenomena and this behavior is maintained through the urbanization gradient, which denotes that the rural areas could be connected to the air basin of the MAM. Seasonal deposition showed that Zn, Fe, Cd, Cu, Ni, Mn Ca, and Mg are higher during autumn and K during winter. Enrichment Factors shows that Zn and Cd were highly enriched, Cu and Ni were moderately enriched, and Ca, K, and Mn were not enriched. Finally, backward trajectories for rural sites showed that only for Allende site a possible carry-over of pollutants is observed during the summer, since the wind currents come preferably from the northern part of the MAM.
