Introduction: The cared illnesses constitute an important problem of health for the individual and for the general population. Due to the sanitary danger that bears the international trips and the risk of introduction of illnesses cared in the county, an investigation was carried out. Objective: To characterize the travelers notified to the COVID-19 with infection source abroad according to basic reproductive number in Camagüey's province. Methods: A observational, descriptive, traverse study was carried out. The study universe was constituted by all the travelers notified with the COVID-19 in the county that fulfilled the inclusion approaches and exclusion. Results: The scenario of intervention of 70% of those notified was the isolation centers for travelers, prevailing those coming from Venezuela and the month of March was that of more incidence, 100% came from areas of transmission of the illness, 55% was asymptomatic in the moment of the diagnosis and the basic reproductive number was smaller than one in the destination municipalities and at provincial level. Conclusions: The centers of isolations for travelers diminished the risk of dispersion of the illness in the destination municipalities, the notified travelers had high probability of making sick to come from countries with transmission of the illness and the asymptomatic ones worsen the performance scenario. Introduction: Sleep is a dynamic and complex process, essential to maintain an adequate state of physical and psychological health. Sleep disorders increase during the menopausal transition with deleterious effects on health, quality of life, use of health resources, and work productivity. Although the sleep-climacteric relationship is frequently addressed, there is no consensus on the association between vasomotor symptoms, sleep quality, and treatments. In Cuba, studies are scarce, which makes it difficult to understand their impact on the daily life of middle-aged women. Objective: To update aspects related to the interrelation of climacteric syndrome: sleep quality, associated factors and their therapeutic options. Methods: Google Scolar, PubMed and SciELO Regional data bases were reviewed with Google web search engine. The article was structured: sleep characteristics in the climacteric, relationship between Climacteric Syndrome and sleep and treatment for sleep disorders. Conclusions: During the transition to menopause, self-reports of sleep disorders related to the intensity of vasomotor symptoms, emotional states, illnesses and social factors increased. There is a lack of uniformity in clinical methods for the diagnosis of sleep problems and in psychotherapeutic and pharmacological approaches. Due to the scarcity of national studies, it would be pertinent to characterize sleep problems in middle-aged Cuban women. Introduction: Fetal macrosomia has traditionally been defined by an arbitrary birth weight. Fetal macrosomia, whether defined by borderline weight or large for gestational age, is associated with numerous perinatal and maternal complications. Objective: To describe the risk factors associated with fetal macrosomia in deliveries at Ana Betancourt de Mora Provincial Gyneco-Obstetric University Hospital during 2019. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive observational study was carried out. The study universe was made up of all pregnant women who had newborns with a birth weight greater than or equal to 4 000 grams, which amounted to 526 pregnant women. Descriptive statistics were used. Average and standard deviation were calculated for the quantitative variables. Results: The studied pregnant women had an average age of 27.86 years and an average BMI at uptake of 26.77 with an average value of weight gain of 13.68 Kg. Between 26 and 35 years there were 290 pregnant women with newborn macrosomic births, with respect to parity those who give birth without experience of this brought together 222 gravid women. In pregnant women classified as overweight with a gain of 10 to 15 kg, 104 of the macrosomic newborns are gathered. Regarding the type of delivery, cesarean section represented 61.4%. The presence of gestational or pregestational diabetes and preeclampsia, respectively, was observed in 40 pregnant women. Conclusions: The excessive weight gain in pregnant women with nutritional evaluation of overweight or obese were those that had the highest incidence in the genesis of macrosomia in newborns. Introduction: Diabetic retinopathy is a retinal microangiopathy that provokes anatomical progressive changes in the retina of the patients with diabetes mellitus of long evolution, it is the third worldwide cause of blindness but the first in old fellows productive in developing countries, that it entails an irreversible loss of vision if one does not diagnose and he talks to each other in good timing. Objective: To describe the behavior of the risk factors in the patients with diabetic retinopathy that attended the retinal consultation of the Hospital Universitario Manuel Ascunce Domenech. Methods: A descriptive transverse study, in diabetic patients that attended the retinal consultation with the diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy was carried out in the period understood of October from 2020 to February 2021. The population was composed of 115 diabetic patients that attended the consultation, and they fulfilled the criteria of inclusion, they were applied a fill-out form to pick up data. The results related with the following variables: Type of diabetes (type 1, type 2), present-day treatment, glycemic control and risk factors of diabetic retinopathy and severity of the same. Results: It was more frequent the patients with diabetes type 2, and the proliferative diabetic retinopathy in patients with diabetes type 1. The treatment with hypoglycemic pray to them it was more frequent in frequent users of insulin, the most patients presented glycemic deficient control, the bigger number of patients they had more of 15 years of disease as risk factor, followed of high blood pressure. Only nephropathy did not entail itself as risk factor. Conclusions: Diabetes type 2 was more frequent than diabetes type 1. The proliferative diabetic retinopathy was frequent in the patients with diabetes type 1. The treatment more used was the oral hypoglycemic ones. Insulin was the treatment used in patients with diabetic retinopathy not proliferative severe and proliferative diabetic retinopathy. The bigger group presented deficient glycemic control. To better glycemic control less severity of her diabetic retinopathies. There was statistical association between diabetic retinopathy and most of the risk factors. Introduction: High blood pressure is a serious medical condition that significantly increases the risks of cardiovascular and other diseases. Most hypertensive people are unaware that they are. It is very important to measure blood pressure periodically, it is the only way to detect the disease. Objective: To assess indicators of morbidity due to hypertension and pre-hypertension in the country, based on the findings of the prevalence, treatment and control of the disease given by the National Health Survey, concluded in 2019. Methods: As part of the National Health Survey, Cuba 2018-2019, a cross-sectional study was carried out, with the aim of identifying the prevalence of high blood pressure, according to sociodemographic variables, geographic area of residence, at the time of diagnosis; the management and control of known hypertensive patients and the classification of new hypertensive patients according to the systolic/diastolic figures presented at the time of diagnosis. It included the population aged 15 and over, residing in urban and rural areas. Results: The prevalence of arterial hypertension in Cuba was 37.3 %, higher in women with 40.2 %, both globally and in urban and rural geographic areas. Hypertensive patients of both sexes predominated in urban areas. Hypertension increased as age did. Conclusions: There was an increase in the total prevalence of arterial hypertension in Cuba in the last 24 years. This was higher than the dispensarization reported at the national level in the first level of health care. Lilium is one of the most important crops in the State of Mexico, its high production volumes, associated with the use of large amounts of chemical fertilizers, increase salinity and alter the physical-chemical and biological properties of the soil. The objective was to evaluate the effect of ammonium concentrations in the nutrient solution, the supply of vermicompost and mycorrhizae, as well as their interactions on the growth and quality of Lilium hybrida var. 'Indian Summerset'. Bulbs were planted in boxes with sandy loam soil, with or without vermicompost and with or without mycorrhizae. Irrigation was carried out with Steiner's solution at 0.24 atm with three ratios of nitrate: ammonium 100:0 %, 92.5:7.5 % and 87.5:12.5 %, and were compared with conventional fertilization. A completely randomized design was conformed with a 4x2x2 factorial arrangement, the factors were ammonium, vermicompost and mycorrhizae. The nutritive solution with 12.5 % ammonium increased plant height, dry weight, the concentration of K in the leaf, and advanced flowering and cut-off point. The contribution of vermicompost and mycorrhizae to the soil did not show significant differences in the quality variables. Vermicompost at 5 % increased the concentration of nitrogen and potassium in leaves.

Habanero pepper is one of the most important horticultural species in the Yucatan peninsula and the seedling production is the crucial initial part for successful fruit production. These could be grown under controlled environment with LED lighting and would allow them to be produced year-round free of pests and diseases. The objectives were to evaluate the effects of five blue:red LED light ratios and a fluorescent control on plant growth and photosynthetic pigments concentration of habanero pepper seedlings ‘Mayan Ba’alché’ grown under controlled conditions. The results showed that control promoted the development of the leaf, through a greater leaf area, leaf area index, specific leaf area, leaf fresh weight and with a lower stomatal frequency and stem diameter, while A100 treatment promoted the development of the stem, through greater plant height, internode distance and stem fresh weight. The combination of blue and red light induced a negative effect in seedling height, internode distance and stem fresh weight. The treatments had no effect on the dry weight of the aerial part and in the photosynthetic pigments.

The use of composite materials of bio-based polymers reinforced with natural fibers has been an eco-friendly alternative to several application sectors. The objective of this paper was to study the mechanical behavior, degradability and its physical properties of six starch – based biocomposites reinforced with bagasse fiber, made with three different fiber lengths (1 mm, 0.5 mm and 0.25 mm) and with or without the application of an alkali fiber pretreatment. Biocomposites were characterized by mechanical tests (tensile, compressive and flexural), as well as water absorption and biodegradability analysis. The mechanical strength of the material was significantly influenced by the alkali fiber pretreatment and fiber length. The weight loss of all composites, attributed to their biodegradability, was higher than 70 % after the fourth week. The mechanical strength of the composite with fiber length of 0.25 mm and alkali fiber pretreatment was higher than the other treatments, thus, the mentioned composite is a promising eco-friendly proposal for many applications.
