A phenomenological reading will be proposed in relation to the Bergsonian concept of durée. For this, we will review the record and reception of Bergson in the phenomenological tradition. Noting the closeness between Bergson and phenomenology, durée is analyzable phenomenologically. That is, the duration understood as the constitution of consciousness, of the real objects of the world and of the relationship between the consciousness that apprehends and the apprehended experience. With this, the method of intuition or intellectual sympathy stands out as a method of division, at the same time, the possibility of objective and essential knowledge regarding reality.

Deflationism about truth holds that a complete theory of this concept should not attend to it’s supposed underlying nature, but to the use of it in actual practice. Nevertheless, this philosophical stand on truth has been put into question by the so-called “conservativeness argument” (Murzi y Rossi, 2020), advanced originally by Shapiro (1998). A response is given to this argument in terms of the defense of a deflationism compatible with a non-conservative formal theory of truth.

This paper seeks to point out some characteristics and political uses of the notion of common sense from Michel Foucault's point of view. Based on a brief comparison with the Gramscian perspective of common sense, it attempts to address two questions in particular: on the one hand, what epistemic status is given to the general knowledge present in everyday life and, on the other, what link is maintained with respect to it, either under the figure of the "organic intellectual" or the Foucaultean style of the "specific intellectual". From there, an attempt is made to situate the scope and limitations of the notion from a Foucaultean perspective.

The following pages deal with the idea of the State in the work of José Ortega y Gasset (1883-1955), showing the changes that occur in his thought around that idea. In a first period of youth, Ortega idealized the role of the State influenced by the tradition of classical and German thought. In a second moment, from the programmatic date of 1914, there will be a turn in his thinking, leaving the State at the service of society or the national reality, and therefore in a subordinate position compared to the dominant position that Ortega granted it in his early years as an intellectual.

The fact that, for Nietzsche, our body interprets on the instinctual sustenance of unconscious forces, has the consequence of blurring the security of the constituent and unifying privilege of consciousness. The fragmentation implicit in hermeneutic physiology allows the affirmation of life in all its dimensions. Understanding the drives as interpretative projections of the will to power involves the ratification of excellence, but, at the same time, the abyss of the accursed part. This tragic agon, so recognizably Nietzschean, seems to have had no choice but to express its contradiction in the expiatory character of some examples of current body art.

Naturalistic approaches to given philosophical problems are currently not as problematic as they used to be a few decades ago. The excessive speculation on certain topics has steadily receded compared to the scientifically oriented philosophy of present time. This article aims to present a biologically oriented approach to ethics that takes into account information and knowledge from ethology, cognitive science and neuroscience. Questions such as Why are we good?, Why are we so selfish or Why do we cooperate? –All of which stem from the field of ethics– are analyzed from the perspective of the philosophy of biology and neurophilosophy.

I attempt to present a more holistic and more detailed account of Schopenhauer's pessimistic philosophical premises and their implications. The discussion begins with Schopenhauer's claim that the world is representation and with the discovering of the Will. It continues by examining the implications of the Will, which leads to the argument against existence itself.

Traditionally, the premiums of the insurance contracts have been considered fair when they mirror exactly the risk of the policies, measured as the mathematical expectation of their claims. In this paper we criticize this seemingly objective approach and we propose an alternative justification for the actuarial fairness, based on contractualist arguments. We build on some intuitions of the 17th French jurist Jean Domat about the shared uncertainty among the stakeholders, in the general framework of the contractualist theory of the contemporary philosopher and economist Robert Sugden.

This article shows how, in García Bacca's thought, the notion of «life» and the decisive role it plays in it, is closely linked to a free and creative activity; placing ourselves more in the wake of Bergson than in that of Ortega or Dilthey, as, up to now, García Bacca scholars have been placing him.

Starting from the Analects, the text closest to the original thought of Confucius, and using the other three books of the classical canon of Confucianism, the present work seeks to analyze the importance that rituals, as a paradigmatic formula of social guidelines, have in Confucian philosophy, in relation to his ethical, political and cosmological system. Then, he establishes a semblance of the structure of rituals in Confucian China. Finally, the relationship of the Confucian School with rituals is contrasted with the secularization of today's democracy.
