Resumen
In this paper we present the results of the documentation of a possible cattle hut located in Dehesa de Villargordo (Villafranca de los Barros, SW Spain) by an intensive archaeological survey. This site must have depended on the nearby settlement of Villargordo which, from a hill on the other hand of the Bonhabal stream and next to the Via de la Plata, would be controlling and exploiting this area of wooded pastureland between the Hight Roman Empire and the Early Middle Ages. The archaeological data obtained from our _eldwork has allowed us to carry out a kernel density estimation to specify the location of the hut withing the space of the extinct wooded pastureland. From this analysis we have been able to assess the rate of lateral displacement of artifacts caused by the action of the agricultural plow. Furthermore we have been able to discriminate artifacts by chronological and functional groups. These analyzes, combined with the study of diagnostic artifacts and with a historical approach to the the transformations of the landscape, has allowed us to interpret the archaeological site at a chronological, functional and economic level.

Resumen
This paper, of a decidedly methodological nature, offers a detailed approach to the historical-archaeological information system designed from the Muntanya Viva research project for studying the medieval settlement in the Pallars Jussà region between the 4th and 12th centuries. It is a relational data model that allows the integration of all available information –whether it comes from written or archaeological sources– and its subsequent representation in a digital cartography through a Geographic Information System (GIS). All this aims to analyse synchronically the relationship between the different elements that made up the landscape at a specific moment, as well as its evolution diachronically over time.

Resumen
The aim of this paper is to describe a group of engravings and paintings discovered in a rocky outcrop of eastern Asturias. This first analysis of the panel allowed us to know the main features of the art motifs that, nowadays, don’t have an absolute dating associated. Apart from the analysis of the rock art the text addresses the prehistoric context, as well as the landscape in the surroundings of the rock. These are key data for a comprehensive view of the site, as well as for understanding the long roots of the prehistoric communities in this space.

Resumen
This article presents the most significant points of the talk given as part of the workshop New approaches in the study of medieval settlement (5th-15th centuries AD). This intervention presented the main assumptions and techniques that were being applied to the study of funerary archaeological remains in Galicia between the 4th and 10th centuries AD. This research is the result of the author’s actual PhD dissertation. In this case, we propose to approach this research from the perspectives of the Archaeology of Death and the Landscape Archaeology. The merge of both currents and the creation of an exhaustive ad hoc database allow us to create a diachronic and spatial discourse in which we can understand the main morphological transformations and how these community spaces function within a specific territory.

Resumen
Since the works by Peter Brown from the 70s of the last century, the concept of «Late Antiquity» has had an exceptional reception within Academy. A project which has produced the development of compelling lines of analysis for the post-Roman period, departing from the slow transformation and continuity in contradistinction with the idea of decline and fall of the Roman Empire. However, the popularity of this concept in a specific academic context has supposed its uncritical, and apparently neutral, use, and thus ignoring the significant theoretical background that its use implies. In this paper I will propose a genealogical analysis for the project of Late Antiquity, with the aim of unraveling the theoretical and methodological implications of the use of this concept. This will be used, in a second part of the paper, and through the analysis of some specific cases on the post-Roman settlement pattern in Western Europe, to show its limitations for tackling the significant changes in the archaeological record of the 5th century. Finally, I will propose an arena of dialogue in which the solid argumentation based on a high-quality empirical base may show the utility, or not, of the use of some historic concepts.

Resumen
To study the formation of the Early Medieval Landscape, a series of sites were examined in the nor thern Sierra de Guadarrama (Madrid, Spain) characterized by hilltops, churches, monasteries, villages, and farms. Rural realities of the Early Medieval Landscape re_ected the exploitation, production, and administration of mountain environments. To understand the social realities of this period and how these centres are connected, two case studies are crucial: Cancho del Confesionario and La Dehesa de Navalvillar.
