We report the first record for the diet of the Cauca Coralsnake Micrurus multiscutatus, preying on a caecilian of the genus Caecilia in the pacific lowlands of Colombia. In addition, we describe a new hunting maneuver used by the coralsnake to subdue the caecilian.

Indotyphlops braminus is a species of snake introduced to Mexico. In this work we present a new record of this species in the municipality of Ixtapan de la Sal, State of Mexico, Mexico, in an urbanized environment. In the State of Mexico, there were only two previous verified records of the species in the municipalities of Tenancingo and Naucalpan.

In a brief study on the endemic lizard, Petrosaurus thalassinus, in the Cañon de la Zorra region of Sierra La Laguna Biosphere Reserve in Mexico, over seven days we aimed to gain a preliminary insight into their social structure by examining their behavior, morphology, and habitat use. We captured, marked, and measured 28 adults, and conducted 19.4 hours of focal observations on 47 marked and unmarked adults in the field. Males had longer snout-vent lengths than females, but females had greater mass than males of the same snout-vent length. Lizards exhibited 30 behaviors organized into eight categories. Most notably, while basking on rocks or sharing crevices they aggregated in groups of two to five individuals (< 1m apart) and in frequent visual contact (25/47 observations, 53.2%) while basking on rocks or sharing crevices. Although aggregated lizards showed high levels of mutual tolerance and signaling behavior, they exhibited little to no aggression. Larger lizards used taller rocks and took higher positions on them, but there was no difference between sexes. Furthermore, we observed P. thalassinus in interspecific interactions with Sceloporus hunsakeri and with Ctenosaura hemilopha. Our results indicate that P. thalassinus could have a more complex social system than reported for most lizards, which warrants further investigation.

We provide the first record of attempted predation on a species of the genus Xenosaurus, specifically on a young individual of Xenosaurus grandis, by the snake Amastridium sapperi in a rainforest of the Sierra Mazateca, Oaxaca, Mexico. In addition, we expand the geographical distribution records of this snake for the state of Oaxaca. This predation record of a species with evasive habits that are difficult to observe in wildlife increases the knowledge of the ecological interactions that shape the structure and function in communities and ecosystems.

The Common Green Iguana (Iguana iguana) inhabits neotropical forests from northern Mexico to Central America andnortheastern South America. It is considered mainly herbivorous, with no ontogenetic changes in its diet. However, it is known that it occasionally consumes matter of animal origin. Here we report an attempted consumption of a chick of the White Pigeon (Zenaidaasiatica) by I. iguana. We do not know if the event was an attempt at predation or scavenging behavior.

AAlthough snakes of the genus Tantilla are widespread throughout much of the Western Hemisphere, many aspects of their distribution and ecology remain unknown.  Here, we present additional distribution records of Tantilla schistosa in the state of Chiapas, Mexico. We also explore the inconsistent literature regarding the distributional and elevational range of the species, and augment knowledge of its habitat, predator-prey relationships, and conservation status. Our work highlights the value of using multiple data sources to produce a better understanding of the geographic distribution and natural history of little-known species
