Objective: Knowing the labor and social demand for Environmental Engineers to the creation of the Environmental Engineering study program at the National Frontier University. Method: The study was descriptive. For the analysis of labor demand, chain sampling (drag sampling) was used because key participants were identified for the sample, who provided information on other subjects who could provide data or expand the information; subsequently, 40 surveys were applied to those in charge of personnel recruitment in public and private organizations. Meanwhile, for the analysis of social demand, probabilistic sampling was carried out; 962 surveys were applied to students in the fifth grade of secondary school in the area of influence of the Universidad Nacional de Frontera. Results: The study determines the need for Environmental Engineers based on the identification of the gap between the educational offer and the labor demand. Likewise, the study determines the existence of social demand for the Environmental Engineering program in the area of influence of the University. Conclusions: The gap between educational supply and projected labor demand for environmental engineers is known. In turn, 30.4% of the surveyed fifth grade high school students are interested in the Program of Studies.

The main objective of this research is to quantitatively demonstrate the degree of association between competitiveness and profitability in organizations. To this end, a bibliographic review of the theoretical aspects and research that encompasses both variables was carried out. In addition, an organization dedicated to the production of footwear located in the city of Lima, Peru, was taken as the object of study, from which quantitative data was extracted from its processes through the documentary review technique. The data extracted corresponds to competitiveness in its dimensions of quality, productivity, production costs and sustainability. In the same way, data related to profitability was extracted in its dimensions of sales, contribution margin and profit margin. With these data, a correlation study was carried out that validated the hypothesis raised and the theoretical bases in this article. Finally, it was possible to determine the type and degree of association between the competitiveness and profitability of the footwear sector organization, and then provide recommendations on these results

The purpose of this article is to consider control as part of a complex adaptive system (SCA) that is the organization, in such a way that it can favorably or unfavorably affect the same, while emerging as a symbolic expression to understand the intended meanings and shared between the realities of the actors. The method used was a theoretical analysis and documentary review on the main concepts, which resulted in a proposal to study the control from the systemic perspective in organizations and its originality that can be applied to any form of organization. It is concluded that control is a construct that is generated through the complex interactions of organizational actors, and its symbolic expression rises to the level of bosses on a short, medium and long scale, with a regulatory and emerging role, which intervenes in actions and behaviors.

This research aims to identify how predatory lawsuits can impact the application and protection of the fundamental principles of free access to justice and dialecticity. The aim of this research is to verify how predatory lawsuits can impact the reasonable duration of proceedings and cause possible violations of the principles of dialecticity and free access to justice, based on a constitutional and procedural analysis of the Brazilian legal system. The relevance of this topic to the legal field arises from the dilemma of efficient jurisdictional provision and the challenge of controlling predatory lawsuits, since this practice can distort the social function of the judicial system, leading to an overload of processes and slow decisions. Thus, the study aims to evaluate how the Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins interprets and, consequently, applies the constitutional principles of dialecticity and free access to justice in cases involving predatory lawsuits, through a critical study of the Court's Internal Regulations and case law. To this end, the theoretical-deductive method was applied and the methodological path chosen was legal research, using exploratory research in legal literature, national legislation and case law, in addition to using a qualitative approach. As a result of the research, measures adopted by the Judiciary were identified with the purpose of preventing and curbing predatory lawsuits, without, however, harming the right of lawsuit (access to justice), through the installation of interconnected Intelligence Centers at the national level. This initiative demonstrates an assertive performance of the Judiciary in the management of demands, contributing to the reduction of procedural overload, greater speed and concern for legal certainty. It can be concluded, therefore, that combating predatory lawsuits demands a collective effort from the justice system. To this end, it is essential to ensure efficient communication and the standardization of practices among the competent bodies, in addition to promoting awareness among legal professionals about the responsible use of the right of lawsuit.

Obesity and overweight represent a growing global issue, characterized by the excessive accumulation of body fat and its negative impact on health. The WHO recognizes metabolic-bariatric surgery as an effective intervention for weight loss and the control of obesity-associated comorbidities, such as hypertension and diabetes. Dumping Syndrome (DS) is a common complication of the Gastric Bypass surgical technique in the treatment of obesity and metabolic diseases, manifesting through symptoms such as nausea, abdominal pain, cold sweats, dizziness, palpitations, abdominal bloating, and hypoglycemia. Objective: to evaluate the characteristics of Dumping Syndrome in individuals who underwent metabolic-bariatric surgery. Method:a cross-sectional survey study was conducted using an online form, via the Google Forms platform, targeting a group of 5,160 individuals who identified as post-bariatric patients and had undergone surgery between 6 to 18 months and 18 to 60 months prior. Results: the sample consisted of 3,058 participants, divided into patients who developed and did not develop the syndrome after metabolic-bariatric surgery. The age range was between 27 and 40 years, with a predominance of females and married individuals. All groups showed a significant reduction in smoking, alcohol consumption, and a greater adherence to physical activity after the surgical intervention. The Gastric Bypass technique was the most prevalent. Among psychiatric disorders, anxiety and binge eating were more common in the postoperative period. Conclusion: Dumping Syndrome is a frequent complication in patients undergoing gastric bypass, being more prevalent among women. The condition is exacerbated by alcohol consumption, anxiety, and binge eating, highlighting the importance of multidisciplinary follow-up in the postoperative period. Continuous monitoring of patients with both early and late DS is essential to improve quality of life and manage associated comorbidities.

According to the definition of the Brazilian Civil Code of 2002, the property regime in marriage is made up of the set of rules that define how the spouses' assets will be divided during the term of the marital partnership or at the end of it, whether through separation, divorce or death. The regime applies to both assets acquired during the term and those acquired before it began. In this sense, this work aimed to analyze the article 1.641, II, of the Civil Code with the decision of the Federal Supreme Court through ARE 1.309.642/SP, Full, Rel. Min. Luís Roberto Barroso, j.  em 1º/02/2024. As a method, a systematic literary review was carried out on the topic, through the analysis of jurisprudence, judgments and doctrines. The objective was to understand the possible impacts of the aforementioned the Federal Supreme Court decision on unions and succession law. Thus, the STF recognized the unconstitutionality of the mandatory application of the legal regime to all married couples aged seventy or over, as it understood that it would violate the principles of human dignity, equality and, in addition, represent an injury to the freedom of property management of the elderly. Thus, the the Federal Supreme Court decision declared that the bride and groom covered there may, through a public deed made at a notary's office, opt for any property regime provided for by law and the rules of the chosen regime will apply to this marriage, including its succession effects. The decision has a modulatory effect, being applicable to future unions, however, there is nothing to prevent those who wish to modify their marriage or union regime from doing so, in compliance with articles 1.821, I, of the of the Brazilian Civil Code.

The insertion of central catheters is common in Intensive Care Units, due to the administration of numerous medications and monitoring of patients, however there is a risk of sepsis related to the management of these catheters. This study aimed to identify national and international studies that address the role of nurses in preventing septicemia associated with central venous catheters in an intensive care unit. This is an integrative literature review study, carried out in six stages: 1) elaboration of the guiding question; 2) literature search or sampling; 3) Data collection; 4) Critical analysis of included studies; 5) Discussion of results and 6) presentation of the integrative review. The searches took place in the virtual health library database during the period of September and October 2024. Original articles in Portuguese and English published in the last five years were considered as inclusion criteria. Editorial notes, review studies and experience reports were excluded. After carefully reading the studies, 07 articles were chosen that covered the proposed objective, from which the thematic categories emerged: “implementation of interprofessional collaboration”; “implementation of monitoring protocols and tools” and “continuous training”. Final considerations: The study contributes to the implementation of good nursing practices and the prevention of sepsis related to central catheters.

Introduction: Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition characterized by widespread pain, fatigue, and a range of other symptoms, significantly impacting patients’ quality of life. Physiotherapy has proven to be a promising approach in managing this condition, with various interventions proposed and studied. Methodology: The systematic review included 16 relevant studies, of which 6 were selected for detailed analysis. These studies varied in methodology, sample size, and therapeutic techniques, all focusing on improving physical function and the quality of life of patients with fibromyalgia. Interventions ranged from respiratory physiotherapy and positive expiratory pressure techniques to physical exercise and resistance training. Results: The results showed a significant improvement in patients’ physical function, with reductions in pain intensity, frequency of exacerbations, and hospitalizations. However, the effectiveness of the interventions varied depending on the technique used and patients’ adherence. Among the selected studies, one highlighted the importance of resistance training, which not only improved muscle strength but also overall health and pain perception. Conclusion: Other studies demonstrated the positive impact of pain education, physical exercise, and multimodal approaches that combine physical therapy with psychological interventions. The data reinforce that regular physical activity, along with appropriate therapeutic support, can significantly benefit individuals with fibromyalgia, promoting not only functional improvement but also emotional well-being. Continued research is crucial to determine the most effective interventions and develop protocols that can be widely adopted in clinical practice, aiming to provide a more integrative and personalized approach to fibromyalgia treatment.

This study aims to evaluate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the number of syphilis notifications (acquired, during pregnancy and congenital) in northeastern Brazil. An ecological study was carried out using the database provided by the Ministry of Health through the Department of Informatics of the SUS (DATASUS). The monthly numbers of notifications of acquired, gestational and congenital syphilis were organized on the Google Sheets online platform and the data were statistically analyzed, using the Wilcoxon test, for the pandemic (Jan/2020-Jun/2021) and pre pandemic periods (Jan/2018-Dec/2019), with a statistical significance of 5%. There was a reduction in the number of notifications of total cases of syphilis in the Northeast in 2020 and in 2021 when compared to the pre-pandemic period (p < 0.001 and p = 0.031, respectively). This reduction represents a drop of 32.38% in 2020 and 28.84% in 2021. Regarding the states, there was no statistical significance in the number of notifications for Sergipe in 2020 (p = 0.638), Ceará in 2021 (p = 0.156) and Rio Grande do Norte in 2021 (p = 0.219) compared to 2018 and 2019. In addition, it was observed that in Sergipe there was an increase of 53.96% in notifications in 2021 compared to the same period (p = 0.031). These variations may be a consequence of social distancing, the reallocation of resources during the pandemic and socioeconomic issues, or even all of these factors combined.

The evolution of technology has led to the massive use of the internet in the “digital age” in which we live and daily we are bombarded with information from different sources. Concerning the benefits brought by digital evolution, challenges related to the protection of personal data have arisen considering that it is very difficult to control, monitor and manage data on the internet due to the enormous volume that is generated at all times. Personal information is collected and required at all times by various platforms and services. This present work aims to address this issue of data protection in the digital era in light of the Brazilian Federal Constitution and the General Law for the Protection of Personal Data since our legal system guarantees the right to intimacy and the protection of private life. Personal data is sensitive and must therefore be treated with great responsibility by everyone involved in the processing of this information. The study used qualitative methods, with bibliographic research in legal sources and analysis of legislation relevant to the topic discussed.
