Resumen
Introduction: Current dentistry prioritizes preventive measures as an effective way of reducing the main diseases that affect the oral cavity. Any alteration of the dentin-pulp complex, if not treated, can act as an irritant and trigger a pulp inflammatory process. Objective: to determine the main causes and treatment of dental pulp disorders in patients under ten years of age. Methods: a cross-sectional descriptive observational research was carried out. The universe consisted of 30 pediatric patients, working with all of them. Individual non-digitized medical records were used to obtain the information. Descriptive statistics were used for data analysis by calculating absolute and relative percentage frequencies. The ethical standards set forth in the II Declaration of Helsinki were respected. Results: it was found that 60 % of them were caused by dental caries, followed by iatrogenic medical causes (27 %) and trauma with 13 % of the total sample. Regarding the treatment carried out before the pulp affection, it was observed that 42 % of the patients underwent exodontia, followed by pulpotomy (32 %) and pulpectomy (26 %) respectively. Conclusions: It is concluded that the main cause of dental pulp affections are caries and the main treatment used in these cases is exodontia; therefore, it is necessary to strengthen preventive measures to raise awareness about the care of teeth and oral hygiene.

Resumen
Introduction: epidermoid and dermoid cysts are benign lesions that often simulate a brain tumor, both clinically and imaging-wise.Objective: to comparatively characterize dermoid and epidermoid cysts.Method: a narrative review of the available literature was carried out using the synthetic and historical-logical analytical methods through articles retrieved from databases such as PubMed, Scopus, Scielo, Google Scholar, performed on epidermoid cysts during the months of June-July 2022. A total of 24 reference articles addressing the main clinical-epidemiological characteristics of the disease in question were selected.Development: epidermoid cysts arise from epithelial cells retained at the time of neural tube closure and can also occur after trauma. This type of cysts lack sebaceous glands and hair follicles, they are filled with epithelial cells, keratin, water and cholesterol, unlike dermoid cysts. The proximity to the cranial nerves adds to the semiology characteristics of their lesion by compression, especially at the base of the skull. Conclusions: epidermoid cysts are pearly lesions, congenital and in some cases acquired, they lack hair follicles and sebaceous glands, unlike dermoid cysts. The age of debut of dermoid cysts is usually in childhood, while for epidermoid cysts it is 40 to 50 years. The clinical manifestations of dermoid and epidermoid cysts depend on their location. The recommended treatment for this type of cysts is total surgical resection if possible.

Resumen
Introduction: immediate dentin sealing consists of the application of an adhesive agent immediately after tooth preparation and before impression taking, providing a barrier for the dentin and pulp against microorganisms. Objective: to determine the effectiveness of immediate dentin sealing in indirect restorations.Method: a narrative review of the available bibliography was carried out using the analytical, synthetic and historical-logical methods through the articles retrieved from databases such as Pubmed, Scopus and Web of Science. A total of 39 references that addressed the main characteristics of the subject in question were selected. Results: the main objective is to protect the pulpal dentin complex immediately, playing an indispensable role in adhesive dentistry when performing indirect restorations, reduces dentin permeability in the short and long term, prevents the colonization of bacteria in the dentin, improves the marginal and internal adaptation and decreases previous sensitivity. Conclusions: immediate dentin sealing is of great importance in the clinical consultation, since great benefits can be obtained with this technique, such as better bonding strength, less space formation, protection of the dental pulp from bacteria, less bacterial microleakage, and low dentin sensitivity, however its effectiveness in marginal sealing is limited.

Resumen
Introduction: mucopolysaccharidoses are a group of rare and innate disorders caused by the dysfunction or absence of lysosomal enzymes involved in the degradation of mucopolysaccharides or also called glycosaminoglycans. Objective: to describe clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of mucopolysaccharidosis.Method: a narrative bibliographic review was carried out, using the synthetic and historical-logical analytical methods, by analyzing the articles retrieved from the SciELO, Scopus and ClinicalKey databases. Filters were used for the selection of articles in English and Spanish languages; as well as articles published in the period 2018 to 2023. A total of 110 references addressing the main clinical epidemiological characteristics of the disease in question were selected. Results: mucopolysaccharidosis generally occurs in 1 in 28,000 live newborns; it is of autosomal recessive inheritance where mucopolysaccharidosis type II has X-linked inheritance. The characteristics of mucopolysaccharidosis are varied due to disseminated organ involvement; among the most visible are short stature, large head, microscopic face, thick lips and eyebrows, large eyes with corneal opacity, developmental or psychomotor delay with progressive neurological involvement. Conclusions: Mucopolysaccharidoses are a group of inherited metabolic diseases. In mucopolysaccharidosis an adequate diagnosis is essential to improve the life expectancy of patients. The treatment of mucopolysaccharidosis is based on reducing the progression of the disease with the consequent improvement of the patient's quality of life.

Resumen
The global contingency generated by COVID-19 reveals gaps in public health, such as vaccination, a situation that has taken center stage in the current framework of the pandemic, since it plays an important role in overcoming it. Regarding the progress and challenges posed by vaccination in the Latin American population, we consider it pertinent to illustrate the advances in vaccination in Colombia to date, as well as to expose some limitations of the immunization process itself.

Introduction: recycling is a process that aims to convert waste into new products after having undergone various sorting processes. Objective: to characterize the recycling process in dental offices.Method: a narrative review of the available literature was carried out using the synthetic and historical-logical analytical methods, using articles published in the period 2018 to 2023.Results: worldwide, one of the main environmental problems lies in the generation of solid waste, as a consequence of globalization and unnecessary consumption of products and services. Many wastes can cause substantial damage, which are considered as hazardous due to the different characteristics that their generation comes from the different economic activities and that present a risk potential that negatively impacts human health and the environment. Disposable materials with plastic parts, bottles, single-use supplies and materials containing chemicals such as lead and mercury should be subject to regulations that allow their redesign based on eco-friendly standards. The use of the 3Rs rule is necessary for environmental protection. Conclusions: The promotion of recycling in the dental area is of utmost importance, since it helps to reduce the impact of contamination by reducing the disposal of materials with a long degradation time, managing that these materials can be reused and thus reducing the environmental impact.

From a critical-constructive perspective, I question: Are the RCEs fully known in the university profession? Is the product of the CERs effectively, effectively and efficiently disseminated and disseminated? What communication channels do they use to reach the target audience and society in general? Will they be the most appropriate? And, finally: What strategies should be considered for the improvement of the communication of university science in Cuba? These questions create the need to suggest the implementation in the RCE of digital marketing strategies as a tool capable of achieving an effective dissemination of scientific production, projecting it towards greater visibility at the national and international level and, in this way, guaranteeing a greater impact
