School bullying is a serious public health problem and television drama series can contribute to shedding more light on its numerous facets. Hence, this study sought to analyze the discourses and practices of adults when they learn about or witness bullying situations in the television series Thirteen Reasons Why. This exploratory study employed a qualitative approach based on Bronfenbrenner’s Bioecological Theory. The methodological procedures comprised analyzing and selecting the episodes, identifying the scenes that contained bullying, classifying the adults’ perspectives and actions, and data analysis. We found an insufficient understanding of the adults in situations of bullying that were witnessed or known. Coercive behaviors, punishments, and transference of responsibility between contexts were the most identified actions. This study contributes to raising awareness among managers and civil society about the role of adults in managing and preventing cases of bullying in schools.

The aim of this study was to explore the association between adult attachment styles and emotion regulation. Two hundred and ninety students between the ages of 18 and 25 participated (M = 21.18; SD = 2.86), coming from various university careers of two higher education institutions in Quito (Ecuador); they were selected by chance grouping. Two instruments were used for the measurement. The first one was the Experiences in Close Relationships-Revised (ECR-R) scale, validated in the Ecuadorian context, which was used to evaluate the type of attachment in romantic relationships. The second instrument was the Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale (DERS), in its original version translated into Spanish, used to assess difficulties in emotional regulation. The results showed that secure attachment occurs in a higher percentage of female participants (60 %), that there are no differences by sex in the emotional regulation indicators (p > .05) and that, in the studied population, there is an association between insecure adult attachment styles and emotional dysregulation (p < .05). It is concluded that positive role models of self and of others, as well as low levels of anxiety and avoidance, present in the secure attachment style, are protective factors that contribute to emotional regulation.

Background: The effects caused by natural phenomena have been increasing, aggravating the vulnerability of exposed populations. It is necessary to measure the resilience capacity of the community to face this type of adverse situations. The objective of the study was the construction and validation of a self-report scale of community resilience. Method: The items were based on the proposal of Twigg (2007) and Suárez-Ojeda (2001). The AIKEN V and semi-confirmatory analysis (McDonald, 2005) were used to validate the instrument. There was a sample of 290 participants with an age range of 18 to 78 years, from the municipalities of Jojutla and Yautepec in the State of Morelos (Mexico). Results: A final unidimensional scale made up of 16 items was obtained, internal consistency Ω = .924. Conclusions: This scale can be useful for those working in integrated disaster risk management.

Compassionate love is a selfless feeling that focuses on the good of others. However, despite the popularity of the term, there is still no instrument of measurement for the Mexican population within the romantic context. For this reason, this research aimed to design and validate an instrument that adequately integrates the construct of compassionate love within couple relationships in a sample of 900 participants from Mexico city. An exploratory factor analysis was carried out to examine the factor conformation. The scale comprised 33 items grouped into two factors that explained 61.96 % of the variance, a Cronbach's Alpha coefficient of .973 and Omega reliability of .976. The findings coincide with the foundations of the theoretical perspectives of the construct, and it represents a conceptual, methodological, and cultural contribution to the study of the variable in the romantic context.

Quality of life is a relevant aspect of people's lives, even more so when high comorbidities are present in the general population, so its valid and reliable measurement is necessary. Objective: To determine the psychometric properties of the Instrument for the Evaluation of Functionality in the Treatment of Chronic Diseases (FACT-GP) in the general Mexican population. Method: A cross-sectional design was used, with a non-probabilistic sampling, based on availability. Statistical analysis: A confirmatory factorial model was performed. Results: 254 participants with M = 23.5 years (21-32) were included. Four factors with 18 reagents were identified. The internal consistency of the global scale was 0.81, which explains 58.93 % of the variance. Confirmatory factor analysis present adequate indices (CFI, RMR, RMSEA), that prove a balanced and parsimonious fit of the model structure. Conclusion: The FACT-GP showed a structure similar to the original version with valid and reliable indicators for its use in clinical care and research aimed at the general Mexican population.

Academic emotional exhaustion is the first stage of academic burnout syndrome, and it is necessary to evaluate it and intervene early since the consequences are significant for people. The objective of this research is to perform a psychometric analysis of the Emotional Exhaustion Scale (Escala de Cansancio Emocional, ECE) to evaluate its internal structure, measurement invariance, and internal consistency reliability, in a sample of Ecuadorian college students in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Four hundred and fifty-three college students from Ecuador participated (76.21 % women) between the ages of 17 and 35 (M = 22.76 years). Results show that the one-dimensional structure has statistical support, is invariant concerning sex, and shows adequate internal consistency reliability. It is concluded that the ECE has adequate psychometric properties that allow its use in Ecuadorian college students.

The purpose of the research was to compare stress, psychological distress, psychological well-being, and life satisfaction according to work patterns in mothers. A descriptive and comparative study was carried out, with a non-experimental design, quantitative and cross-sectional approach. The participants were 436 Ecuadorian mothers, divided into three groups: face-to-face work, telework, and unpaid work. The ANOVA statistical analysis indicated significant differences in the variables of psychological distress (F = 4.67; p < .01), psychological well-being (F = 7.64; p < .001), and life satisfaction (F = 8.69; p < .001), with unpaid work group showing higher levels of psychological distress and lower levels of well-being and satisfaction, and teleworking with better scores in well-being and satisfaction and low levels of psychological distress. Differences in stress were found between the groups (F = 5.13; p = .02) when the covariate educational follow-up through ANCOVA is analyzed. The unpaid work group presented higher levels of stress as the hours of educational follow-up increased. It is concluded that work mode is related to psychological distress, psychological well-being, and life satisfaction. Stress levels increase as a function of modality and when more hours of educational follow-up are allocated.

The Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI) is one of the most used self-report measures in young people and adults to measure empathy, it considers cognitive and affective aspects in its composition. This research presents the structural validity, invariance and reliability of the measure in Peruvian university students. 859 psychology students, between 17 and 39 years old, from two universities in Metropolitan Lima were intentionally selected. The confirmatory factor analysis performed on three models: Model 1, replicates the original structure, Model 2, analyzes the original structure, but negatively worded items and model 3 were excluded, inverse items and those with irrelevant variance were excluded. construct (item 9). This last model is the one with the best fit (CFI = .924; RMSEA = .091; SRMR = 0.058). On this model, the configurational, metric, scalar and residual invariance according to age was established. In addition, a second order model was tested that demonstrated the presence of the latent factors Cognitive Empathy and Emotional Reactions, this model presents an adequate fit (CFI = .957; RMSEA = .078; SRMR = 0.068). It is concluded that the reduced version of the IRI is a valid and reliable measure in Peruvian university students.

Introduction: The self-determination theory represents a framework to understand the factors that facilitate academic motivation, a relevant construct for educational contexts. One of the most used instruments to measure the construct is the Academic Self-Regulation Questionnaire (SQR-A), but there is a lack of psychometric background on the assessment of this measurement model of the Spanish version. Objective: To assess the factorial structure, internal consistency, and validity of the Academic Self-Regulation Questionnaire (SQR-A), in a sample of Chilean university students. Method: The participants were 808 students from two Chilean universities. The measurement model was evaluated using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The validity and reliability were assessed using mean-variance extracted and composite reliability. Results: The results show that the four-factor measurement model shows adequate levels of fit, in addition to adequate levels of validity and internal consistency. Conclusion: The Spanish version of the SRQ-A is a useful measure to be applied in higher education contexts.

The objective of this study was to identify latent dimensions of attitudes towards social policies from a series of items commonly used in locally relevant literature on the subject. Specifically, we analysed evidence of structural validity and internal consistency of a set of 24 items on attitudes towards social policies. A total of 442 people aged 18 to 64 from Gran Cordoba (Argentina) participated. Exploratory and confirmatory (two factors, three factors, four factors, second order) models were assessed. The exploratory evidence did not provide satisfactory results. In the confirmatory analyses, the four-factor model showed an acceptable fit, with the following item clustering: targeted beneficiary-centred policies that tend towards social welfare (7 items), targeted beneficiary-centred policies that tend toward social advancement (6 items), targeted contributor-centred policies (4 items), and universal policies (7 items). All items showed factor loadings greater than .40. The internal consistency values were higher than .70. The results showed the possibility of considering latent dimensions on attitudes towards social policies. We underline the need to develop interdisciplinary and contextualized research in this regard.
