Resumen
In this paper we propose to analyze the Peronism in the province of Santiago del Estero from a look that tries to uncover the way in which the spaces provincial and national interlaced between 1943 and 1955, and to place its particularity among old and new. In other words, we believe that the political space santiagueño, hegemonized by Peronism almost from its irruption as such, has a dynamic in which the spatial boundaries between national and provincial level, and temporal, between past and present, are re-meant and rewrite in a permanent way around the Social Justice. The principal aim is realize of the scopes that had the work justice across the functioning of public organisms (office, department, delegation and Work Courts) in relation, in turn, with other institutions from which there is revealed the principles of social justice as the Peronism conceives them during this period.

Resumen
This article analyzes the “presidio ambulante” (itinerant jail) as one device of social disci - pline imposed by Chile’s conservative elites during the period of State consolidation that followed intra-elite struggles (1830-1840), highlighting the role of Minister Diego Portales. It explores critically the various functions of the “carros jaula” (cage carts), as well as the living conditions and resistance mechanisms displayed by the prison inmates vis-à-vis the authoritarian regime. The role of this disciplinary system on the eve of the war against the Confederacion Perú-Boliviana is also dealt with, including its links with the main economic processes of the early 19th Century. In sum, this study considerers the “presidio ambulante” as a reflection on the elite’s views regarding the role of the popular sectors in the making of a nation-state guided by the principles of republicanism.

Resumen
The “chinganas” were suburban sites of popular amusement strongly criticized by liberal and conservative elites, on account of the “immorality” practiced by their patrons. However, the “chinganero” atmosphere managed to penetrate the city center, invading theaters and coffee-houses with its characteristic dance, the “zamacueca”. The inf luence of these cultural forms was such that they became part of the national culture and the official celebrations, as the elite proved incapable of supplying its own cultural bases for its nation-building discourse. This national discourse was created by the elite to support and propagate its national project, but it was the popular traditions that gave it real content.
