Introduction: This research points in the direction of the relevance and usefulness of designing and applying interventions focused on improving intelligence, giving priority to emotional and creative aspects, to promote optimal comprehensive performance in students. There is a pronounced need to develop competent people, both cognitively and socioemotionally, to function effectively in an ever-changing society. Objective: The purpose was to evaluate and compare the level of self-efficacy perceived by the participants with respect to their multiple intelligences, their emotional intelligence, their creativity and their academic performance. Method: The sample is made up of 435 first-year university students. The research design was cross-sectional predictive. Results: Relationships were found between the analyzed variables, as well as differences based on the sex of the participants. Regression analyzes show how linguistic and logicalmathematical intelligences are self-perceived predictors of students’ academic performance. Discussion: A positive relationship between the different social and emotional competencies is detected, as well as their importance for the optimal performance of the students.

This paper is focused on the analysis of three Jesuit sources, through which I seek to reconstruct the history of smallpox based on the fear of death and its different manifestations. Furthermore, I address the earthly and heavenly antidotes that were proposed to combat this pandemic, among which the heavenly ones were regarded as more valid. Adding to this premise, it is argued that behind the Jesuit discourse there is a moralizing message in which the demographic decline is justified as a product of God’s revenge upon the sinful behavior of the Guarani.

The origins of the church of the Society of Jesus in Tunja dated four centuries ago, to the beginning of the 17th century, when the temple was start inside a house half a block from the main square, acquired by the Jesuits to stablish their school-novitiate, which grew little by little with many difficulties. The façade of the temple only come out to the street in the middle of the 18th century. After the expulsion of the Jesuits, the dispersion of altars and images of canvas and bulk and the change of uses of the temple began, which would become a convent-hospital and college-university of the republic. In the seventies of the 20th century, an intervention was carried out for tourist purposes that disfigured its spatiality and turned it into a concert hall. In the eighties, a restoration corrected part of the exterior intervention and consolidated the roof of the old church of the Society of Jesus, today used as a temple.

The baroque festival manifested itself in various collective ceremonies with a notable ritualised behaviour between political and religious institutions. In this case, with the indigenous people re-introduced as a third actor, who participated directly in the reception of the civil authority in their village. There are various descriptions of how these events took place in different eras, but here is an unpublished instruction on how the reception should be carried out, specifically for a governor, as well as how to treat him during his stay. It was ordered in 1699 and distributed among the doctrines by the superior of Paraná, Fr. Mateo Sánchez, a missionary who was himself rector of several colleges and who years later suffered a violent death.

This research documents the history of the former Jesuit colegio of San Francisco Xavier in Valladolid de Michoacán, now Morelia, Mexico. It focuses on the last eight years before the expulsion of the Society of Jesus from Spanish territory(1760-1767). This period coincides with the rule of Charles III, king of Spain (1759-1788), Jesuit General Lorenzo Ricci (1758-1773) and Pedro Anselmo Sánchez de Tagle, Bishop of Michoacán. The article begins documenting its foundation, which influenced its administration until the suppression. Then, it offers a general panorama of the state of the schools and religious foundations of the diocese de Michoacán. Finally, it examines the colegio de Valladolid based on the following themes: funding, government and administration, beneficiaries, teaching, architecture and daily life.
