Social organization is of vital importance in personal and interpersonal crisis situations, because it provides spaces for dialogue, respect and solidarity. Statistical data indicates that Campeche is one of the five states in the country with the lowest number of social organizations (Ministry of Social Development 2018). However, in this investigation, it was registered that there are non-official essential organizations, in the life of working-class people from that place, such as “Campeche, por amor a la madre naturaleza”. This group stands out for its philosophy based on non-monetary swap and for its reciprocity practices in the emotional crisis processes of its participants. From the ethnographic record, it was identified that unofficial social organization practices not only establish an important affective pillar in those unexpected crises, but also develop a fundamental role in the face of economic situations in a sector that shows unemployment gaps and lack of social security.

This article analyzes the situation of Cuban migrants who were stranded in Panama when Barack Obamaabolished the United States’ dry feet / wet feet immigration policy, which allowed them to get the permanent residence in the United States. It is emphasized the transition stage after the end of that policy, where Cuban migrants got special treatment by Central American countries to facilitate their crossing through their territory to the United States. At the very end of these benefits, Cubans were treated like any other migrant, in accordance with the migratory agreements aimed at normalizing Cuban migration, signed by the countries of origin, transit and destination. Faced with this situation, the analysis of the migration strategies undertaken by Cuban migrants in transit to influence in the definition of public policies that the countries involved would adopt with the purpose of solving their migratory condition.

In this article I carry out research of the Mérida carnival, from its beginnings to 1940, being my objective to make evident its trajectory and the way in which the power elite appropriated its festive tradition, and for that I use several primary and secondary sources, particularly I use the archives of acts of the council, newspapers and other publications. The carnival was organized by various social layers, having its greatest splendor at the time of the porfiriato. The key was in the increasingly stronger leagues between the political and economic elites and the public force, that’s why its organic intellectuals prolonged the model of a carnival that was more exclusive than popular until 1940, a decade in which it finally integrated into its structure the figures of a Carnival Committee and the election of a queen.

The conquest of Petén Itzá in Guatemala took place on March 13, 1697, under the orders of Martín de Urzúa, governor of Yucatán. Prior to this, there were several unsuccessful attempts to evangelize the region guided by Franciscan friars. Fray Andrés de Avendaño y Loyola made two entries to the Petén area in 1695, with the hope of achieving the peaceful conquest of the region. As a negotiation strategy, in his dialogue with the itzaes, Avendaño made reference to the prophecy of 8 ahau katún, the katún of war, conquest and change, and what would happen between 1697 and 1717, but he failed. In this text I aim to analyze the phenomenon of prophecy in general and that of 8 ahau katún in particular, aside from the differences and similarities between European and Mayan thoughts, as well as the way in which all this misfired to avoid war.

This research aims to analyze the perception of public insecurity in the municipality of Cunduacán, Tabasco, by describing some of the factors involved in this phenomenon. To achieve it, a qualitative methodology was used through participant observation and the application of interviews with a semi-structured script, both men and women of legal age who live in the municipality. The factors that influenced the increase of violence in Cunduacán are mainly unemployment, low salaries and, in a lesser extent, the lack of education, the loss of values and the growth of drug trafficking.

In Mexico, studies on indigenous masculinity are not enough, so the objective of this work is to describe the construction of masculinity in tutunakú sanmigueleños men from the Sierra Norte de Puebla. Applying meticulous interviews as a data collection technique, we were working with four men whom belong to two different generations, all of them, initially socialized under local “customs”. As a result of this inquiry, a clear notion of sex and gender is observed, where the socialization process to stop being ska’tā (infant), and become into chi’xcu (man), includes the internalization of a variety of agriculture knowing-how, the physical habituation to the weather changes and the strenuous work, as well as the incorporation of responsibility as an axis of articulation and constant evaluation, where the maximum community recognition is gotten by being accepted as a compadre during the mayordomía, which implies having become an honorable man.

The article critically reconstructs the returning process of the Order of Friars Minor (OFM) to the southeast of Mexico during the second half of the 20th century. Once suppressed the colonial province of San José de los Naturales in the 19th century, the minor friars left the region not to come back until the 1940s, as part of a new missionary wave, like a result of a long process of social and territorial reordering of Catholicism in Mexico, as well as doctrinal and organizational changes of being and endeavoring of the Franciscans. The text analyzes documentary data, and begins the reflection with the arrival of the first Franciscan missionaries to Yucatán, coming from the Santo Evangelio province, and concludes with the founding of a new entity in the southeast in 1995: San Felipe de Jesús province.

A 52-year-old man was referred to our hospital for the appearance of generalized epileptic seizures with loss of consciousness, and a computed tomography scan reveals multiple contrast-enhanced hemispheric supratentorial lesions, considering a multicentric Glioblastoma. A stereotactic biopsy was performed and abundant large cells with compact eosinophilic granular cytoplasm were found in the specimen, positive for gliofibrillar acid protein, S100 protein and CD68, focally, with scarce neoplastic astrocytes. Final diagnosis was granular cell astrocytoma. Multimodal treatment with radiotherapy, chemotherapy and immunotherapy was established. He remained at Karnofsky Performance Score (KPS) 80 during the first year and then, with tumor progression, a stability of KPS 50 for 6 months until he died 21 months after diagnosis. The bibliographic review carried out showed, to date, 104 diagnosed hemispheric supratentorial granular cell astrocytomas, with a survival of less than one year, regardless of the degree of malignancy. Multimodal treatment is recommended for these types of aggressive behavioral brain tumor.

Introduction. Cuba is going through a changing context that impacts the family sphere. This requires new perspectives towards families from science and politics. The place that adolescents and young people occupy in the sphere of family and couples, and their modes of interaction, contributes to the resizing of youth policies. Methods. A mixed approach was used and the information resulting from the applied techniques was triangulated. The sample was representative by age groups and areas of residence. Gender and rights approaches were considered. Results and Discussion. Scientific information on adolescents and young people in the referred areas has been systematized. Modes of interaction of these populations were characterized according to affective relationships, information/orientation and participation in these spaces. The orientation program “Learning to live as a family and as a couple” was designed and implemented from the methodology of popular education. Conclusions: Problems related to these populations are studied, without singling out -sufficiently- their dynamics. This limits the possibilities of understanding interaction patterns that occur in these contexts and leads to the violation of some rights. Featuring adolescents and young people interactions on the family and the couple sphere was essential in order to develop some guidance actions for bringing into focus their most meaningful needs.
