Resumen
The aim of this paper is to revisit the development of Affirmative Actions in higher education in Brazil, and to trace the changes that have occurred among those eligible for higher education (students who have finished high school) articulating with the changes in the profile of university students over time. The essay concludes that affirmative actions played a fundamental role in the inclusion of a new university profile, but did not deplete its role in the redistribution of educational opportunities.

Resumen
This article describes the phenomenon of creativity through an approach that focuses on linguistic aspects, beyond the narrative level of linguistic-literary description, based on the main theories of Linguistics. The concept of linguistic creativity, a phenomenon that only manifests itself in human language, is little explored and known in Languages and Literature, although it is extremely productive for writing practices, inside and outside the classroom. In the first part of the article, the concepts of writing, creative writing, creativity and linguistic creativity are discussed; in the second one, the relations between linguistic theories and creativity are discussed based on the concepts of phrase, paradigm, recursion, change, variation and grammaticalization; in the third part, we bring some points from the works of Guimarães Rosa. In the final considerations, we emphasize the expansion of the sense of “creativity”, in order to encompass all textual productions, as a means of making these productions more expressive. This work adopted a bibliographic review as a research methodology.

Resumen
The structured cabling system (SCE) aims to standardize and unify voice, data, image, building automation, and electronic security installations in a building. The aim of this work was to propose a model for the design of SCE in commercial buildings in the light of current national technical standards. Research was carried out in the scientific bases Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar with the purpose of knowing the best practices and guidelines related to the theme. We built a model proposal for the design of an SCE in commercial buildings, applied to the environment of a teaching laboratory. We generated a list of materials, the ground floor rack face plan, with the help of the Lucidchart platform, and the building's vertical scheme, using AutoCAD Electrical 2016 software. The design model obtained proved to be relevant due to the possibility of applying it with ease in several scenarios involving SCE in commercial buildings, aiming at the economy and flexibility of the system.

Resumen
Aiming at comparing academic performances of participants in the High School National Exam (ENEM)to their family income, parent’s schooling and kind of school (public or private), this article analyzes the iniquity existing on the educational scenario in the northern region of Rio de Janeiro State. Results show that the family social economic conditions and the kind of school (private or public) have a strong effect on the quality of basic education. The percentage of students in state schools with good to excellent performance in the exam, for instance, is only 0,2%, while the percentage of private and federal school students is, respectively, 11,4% and 17,6%.

Resumen
This paper offers contributions derived from Psychology and considered valuable for the ongoing discussion about the evaluation of cognitive competences in Mathematics. Contemporary models of school evaluation in general, including evaluation in Mathematics, are necessarily based upon conceptions about human individuals doing Mathematics. These conceptions are therefore based upon models of human cognitive functioning, in relation with models about the characteristics and organization of Mathematics, as an specific epistemological domain. Recent models proposed by the (?) Psychology of Intelligence are reviewed here, as well as their theoretical and epistemological limitations are discussed. Nevertheless, we defend that no evaluation could stand without support of such models, even though none of them can be considered as ultimate propositions. Finally, we present our own theoretical landmarks concerning learning and doing Mathematics as a contribution to the process of evaluating mathematical competence.

Resumen
Nowadays, there are hundreds of exotic plant species around the world due to the intense and artificial introduction caused by human intervention. Lately, this process has been intensified by globalization. Consequently, the competition generated between exotic and native plant species not only creates financial and social damages, but also results in irreversible impact in the environment. This article shows the risks caused by this introduction, whether intentional or not, of numerous exotic plant species into ecosystems different from their original ones.

Resumen
The aim of this work was to verify ozone concentrations detected in 2004 in the area known as Enseada do Suá. The neighborhood is characterized by heavy traffic on its main road, a major route leading to downtown Vitória and to several other districts of the city, as well as other municipalities in the metropolitan area of Vitória. The ozone detected in the air of Enseada do Suá, 2004, showed that the daily values did not exceed the standards required by Resolution CONAMA nº 03/90, remaining at 160 gm-3, below the established limit.

Resumen
The effect of globalization has influenced companies to adopt and develop new paradigms in order to get flexibility and be quickly adapted to the changing environments imposed by competitors. One way to do this is to link organizational objectives, in short and long terms, to the processes of the company within its contextual environment that leads to knowledge management through operation, conservation and long term performance. The key is to balance resources and growing elements of knowledge management measured by indicators that enable diagnosis This, in turn, is supported by the feedback process linking the company’s objectives to the knowledge resources.

Resumen
Educational inequality reaches alarming levels in Brazil. In higher education, it is widely known that it is difficult for the most economically vulnerable portion of the population to be admitted in public educational institutions. This paper aims at demonstrating, through empirical research, that this inequality is also found in admission processes carried out by prominent public institutions of primary and secondary education. Our investigation focuses on admission examinations held by Colégio Pedro II in early 2007, and is also based on data from the Educational Census 2006 and results of the UFF entrance examination for the 2005 school year.
