Resumen
Objective: To identify the factors associated with severe caries of the first permanent molar among adolescents from Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico. Material and methods: Cross-sectional study in a sample of 173 adolescents from first to third grade of a public middle school. A self-administered questionnaire was used to obtain sociodemographic data, socioeconomic level, oral health, toxic and dietary habits. Severe caries was identified based on the combined codes 5-6 of the International Caries Classification and Management System. A multivariate analysis was performed with CIETmap statistical software, which identified factors associated with severe caries with the prevalence ratio and its 95% confidence interval as an estimate of the strength of association. Results: A total of 692 permanent first molars were examined. The 54% of the adolescents (94/173) presented severe caries in at least one molar. Two associated factors were found, consumption of 6 or more cigarettes per day (RPa: 5.48; IC95%a= 2.01 - 17.87), and use of oral hygiene aids (RPa: 0.41; IC95%a= 0.34 - 0.78). Conclusion: The prevalence of severe caries was similar to that reported in other studies. Health promotion actions should be carried out to help reduce caries in this population.

Introduction: Coagulation disorders arise as a consequence of a group of alterations that are triggered during the coagulation process, hence the need imposed on the professional training of the dentist to establish adequate care for patients who comprise this population group. Objective: to develop an elective course program on comprehensive dental care in patients with coagulation disorders. Material and Methods: A qualitative and descriptive study was carried out at the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Moron, Ciego de Avila, Cuba, during the months of March to April 2021. Theoretical and empirical methods were used, carrying out an analysis of the documents of the study plans of the Stomatology specialty for the elaboration of the program. Results: the proposed course was structured in 60 hours, for seven weeks, face-to-face and divided into five topics, enabling the general training of Stomatology undergraduate students, through the development of theoretical and care skills. Conclusions: an elective course program was developed that favors the enhancement of curricular actions, contributing to the teaching-care development of Stomatology undergraduate students.

Resumen
Previously, it was reported in the literature that third molars in poor position, such as horizontal, mesial and disto angulated, were a clear indication for tooth extraction. The verticalization of molars with a miniscrew in the mandibular branch corresponds to an ortho-surgical technique in which, through movements on the longitudinal axis of a tooth, a good positioning in the arch and preservation of the tooth is achieved, avoiding extraction. The purpose of this work is to describe the surgical approach and results of the verticalization of an included lower third molar in the mesioangular position, through the placement of a miniature screw using the mandibular branch as anchorage in a 35-year-old female patient.

Resumen
Virtual microscopy (VM) is being widely implemented in education and could lead to the replacement of light microscopy (LM). Objective: To provide a review of the literature based on the questions: What is the perception of academics and students? and What is the performance of students? regarding the teaching of histology and/or histopathology with VM in dentistry. Material and methods: The following databases were consulted: Pubmed, Scielo, Science Direct and Scopus, and 10 articles were selected. Results: All the studies that evaluated perception and academic performance obtained results in favor of VM. Conclusions: VM has a promising future, but more studies with similar methodologies and that consider the perception of academics are required.

Resumen
von Willebrand disease is the most common inherited bleeding disorder, caused by von Willebrand factor deficiency, which causes defective platelet adhesion and aggregation. It is characterized by a prolonged bleeding time and partial thromboplastin time, with low levels of factor VIII, and increased capillary fragility, but with a normal platelet count. Dental treatment in a patient with von Willebrand disease must be individualized according to the severity of the patient’s condition, as well as coordinated with the hematologist, who must determine the type of disease and the need for factor replacement therapy, prior to the patient management. Through this bibliographic review, it wants to reinforce the dentist’s knowledge of this bleeding disorder, since this can prevent or minimize possible bleeding complications during dental treatment.

Resumen
The health services system in Peru is fragmented and segmented, in this new century a coordinated and cooperative attitude is required among health professionals. Lip alveolus-palatine malformations are the most frequent congenital anomalies on the bucomaxillofacial region, affecting the growth and development of orofacial structures of two-thirds of the face, altering innate oral reflexes such as biting, sucking, swallowing and the capacity on the cavity buccal to allow pressure build-up. Adequate performance in health service is achieved with a shared vision and posture among the members of the work team, added to effective management, for which interprofessional collaborative practice requires paradigm changes, in which evidence is demonstrated substantial and irrefutable of a team culture and a reliable interdisciplinary environment, recognizing shared responsibility for results.

Resumen
The following article describes two clinical cases of post-anesthesia traumatic ulcers in children, after dental treatment, in which infiltration of local anesthesia was used as part of the therapeutic treatment for the loss of sensitivity of the sector to be treated. The effects of the anesthetic continued at the end of the treatment, which stimulated curiosity in children to suck or bite the soft tissue due to lack of sensitivity, this caused serious lesions in the oral mucosa. The importance of these post-anesthetic injuries lies in prevention, that is, the professional who attends pediatric patients, must prevent and avoid these serious injuries self-inflicted by the child, giving the recommendations verbally and in writing to the parents.

Resumen
The restrictive measures to face the Covid 19 pandemic affected the normal development of various activities, including higher education, although the virtualization of the contents of the different courses was a measure to give continuity to education, in the case of sciences for health clinical practice in real conditions is essential for the student to achieve the skills required by this type of professional career, so the return to these activities is a great challenge since the conditions of this return are completely different from conditions before the pandemic. This article aims to reflect on the return to presential education and the challenges we must face to continue training dental professionals with academic excellence.

Resumen
Dental anomalies are produced by alterations in odontogenesis which is reflected in the variation in size, number and shape of the teeth. Among these alterations is dental fusion, which is considered as the union of two dental germs that form a large and unique dental structure. The fusion of the molars is rare and has a very low prevalence. In the present case, the diagnosis was that the third molar fused to the fourth retained molar in an upright position. The surgical treatment was flap extraction. For a successful extraction, the following was considered: 1) full visibility of the crown and 2) elimination of obstacles that prevent dislocation and avulsion of the fused pieces. At last, the extraction was carried out successfully.
