Resumen
Between the end of 19th and well into the 20th centuriy, Dialectology and Geo-graphical Linguistics used to illustrate their studies with phonetic transcriptions in order to show the speech variation which was analyzed in monographs and linguistic atlas. This article studies four of these works, two about Puerto Rico (Bareño 1898, and Navarro Tomás 1928), and two about the Dominican Republic (Navarro Tomás 1928, and Alvar 1983). The article de-scribes the work in which each phonetic text is included together with the characteristics of the system of phonetic notation employed by each author. Finally, the inventory of available texts (if they exist at all) is also given.

Resumen
Over the last decades the interest in the study of metaphor has experienced a quanti-tative and qualitative impulse. At present we do not have only studies on the metaphor of rheto-ric or philosophical nature, but there also exist research from psychology, anthropology, medi-cine, cognitive science, economics, biology, and such. Moreover, the proliferation of linguistic analysis carried out from different angles, currents or disciplines has also increased; although, in this sense, cognitive linguistics deserves to be mentioned in its own right. In this bibliogra-phy 125 references that reflect the dynamism and breadth of vision of the recent study of meta-phor are selected and discussed

Resumen
The author attempts to offer a view of everything that has been included under the label ecolinguistics (or similar ones) in the course of the still brief history of the term. She then examines the possible application of ecological thought to the study of languages and holds that this approach must lead the linguistic disciplines to an ethical commitment to linguodiversity.
