Resumen
This work tries to analyze whether economic information in newspapers is perceived as a credible source for individuals to make their investment decisions considering two main aspects: they have little knowledge in this matter and they do not have many resources to invest much money in financial products. In this way, we have focused our investigation on economic behaviours of “non experts” individuals and the reasons of their decisions which are, at last, based on journalistic financial information.

Resumen
Mass and digital media (Technologically Mediated Communication) have been one of the most decisive motive forces in the transition from Modernity to Postmodernity. It has helped to change the nature of power that has evolved from the capacity to define reality for a few groups to a greater participation in the selection and exclusion of social imaginary elements. Social movements represent this diversification and more participation in the social construction of reality. This article proposes the theoretical tool the communicative paradox for explaining how communication works in a social level and how it is possible to explain society from a communicational perspective (communication as the primary and constitutive social process). The paradox, the symbolic power and the role of counter-ideologies (social movements) are three elements for the social theory of communication proposed in this paper.

We have followed the “agenda setting” of main spanish newspapers through its contents referred to economic crisis process. This information has determined people consumption and their saving behaviour. The higher the uncertainties about future perspectives, the greater the increase of people savings.

Resumen
The article analyzes and compares the changes produced in texts such as the op-eds published in tradicional press and the messages from readers published in the digital media. Through this analysis it is shown that the rules that applied to the op-eds have been modified in the new areas of digital participation. Such rules as identity, significance, brevity, authority, entertainment and civility have given way to other new rules: anonymity, confrontation, “ultrabrebity” and in the case of the Spanish digital press, the rule of disqualification. The analysis has been carried out in seven European newspapers: ABC, El País, La Vanguardia, The Guardian, The Times, Le Figaro and Le Monde.

Resumen
The goal of checkbook journalism is to ensure scoops. Although the practice of paying sources of news reporting does not like in all countries or in respectable media, this formula is widespread in TV networks, where the war for audiences has led many programs to use questionable methods, from an ethical perspective, in order to protect their exclusives. The aim of this paper is to theorize about this practice, which has adopted many ways in the last decade, apart from traditional cash payments. From a methodological point of view, we include a critical literature review and a descriptive analysis of representative cases. The results of the investigation reveal the vague boundaries of checkbook journalism, which includes a wide variety of payment modes, the actors involved in the process and the merchandises sold.

Resumen
The aim of this study is to describe the thematic agenda of a number of international online media. To do this, we rely on the approaches developed in the theory of agenda-setting across multiple investigations. Thus, through a quantitative content analysis, we intend to see what issues are most relevant in the breaking news of the media analyzed according to certain aspects such as: authorship, geographic location, sources of information or the development on the front page. This article is part of the research project of the Ministry of Science and Innovation: “Evolution of Spanish online media in the context of convergence: an analysis of the message” (CSO2009-13713-C05-04-subprograma SOCI-)

Resumen
The sources are a crucial aspect in the course of the journalistic work. They are the origin of most of the informative products and, through their explicit identification, they are a guarantee of development of the verification process. Graphics, which already are incorporated into the pages of newspapers, are stories that begin in some data provided by a person, institution or document, both traditional and digital. The characterization of graphic sources is the objective. The result, a marked character governmental and an important presence of international sources.

Resumen
As part of their professional routine, Spanish journalists are gradually joining the ranks of active users of social networks like Twitter. Following some on-the-fly strategy or just winging it, and fully putting into practice the idea that “one must be where the people are,” they distribute information coming from their own media, viralize information from other users/media, editorialize as they go, sum up daily life or shoot the breeze about a variety of topics. This paper presents the results of an in-depth survey conducted among 50 Spanish journalists with active professional profiles on Twitter. The aim of the survey was to find out how they are using this social media at work, how they feel about it and what their expectations are.

Resumen
The Wikileaks story has put the idea of social and political transparency in complex societies like ours at center stage. However, it is not easy to elucidate the meaning of that concept. What does exactly such transparency entails? How can be measured the level of opacity in a given society? Is it reasonable to demand the State and its institutions full transparency? Is it possible to abolish secrecy? To what extent can these demands be fulfilled? Are Wikileaks’ deeds a major step on the path to greater transparency, as its supporters claim? These are some of the many questions sparked by the Wikileaks affair. In order to answer them, this article argues for a more complex understanding of the concept of transparency. We begin with a reconstruction of its historical development, then we proceed to examine its place in the mass communication system, followed by a critical analysis from sociological and semiotical points of view and the proposal of a feasible notion of information transparency.
