Odontogenic myxoma (OM) is currently classified as a benign tumor of ectomesenchymal origin, observed between the second and fourth decade of age, with a predilection in women and predominance in the mandibular region, composed of rounded and angular cells embedded in an abundant myxoid stroma, of aggressive biological behavior, having the characteristic of being locally infiltrative. Tumor cells spread in the intratrabecular space beyond the bone limit, makingit difficult to determine the edge of the tumor, even without cortical continuity, presenting intermittent direct contact with soft tissue; the appearance can be unilocular (small lesions), or commonly the typical image is that of a destructive lesion with poorly defined borders with a multilocular growth pattern, for which the use of advanced medical images such as Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CTHC), Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), are useful to establish an adequate diagnosis with the ability to point out the characteristics of OM with precision and three-dimensional perspective. This review presents a systematic analysis of the types of imaging tools currently used for the study of OM.

Introduction: Bone defects hinder implant positioning. Vertical bone deficiency is the most challenging clinical treatment due to the technique's high sensitivity and frequent Intra and postoperative complications. Alternative therapy for vertical defects is guided bone regeneration with simultaneous implantation; however, few studies have evaluated its effectiveness over time. Objective: To evaluate peri-implant tissue stability in a dental implant simultaneouslypositioned in an aesthetic zone of an area of zone vertical bone regeneration 3 years after functional load. Case Presentation: A 62-year-old male presented with the absence of the right lateral incisor and a vertical bone defect of 3mm. His initial condition affected the relation of zenith points, causing disharmony. After case evaluation, vertical guided bone regeneration and simultaneous dental implants were performed to obtain a vertical bone gain of 3mm. The implant was rehabilitated with a zirconium crown and evaluated 3 years after functional loading. Conclusion: Vertical guided bone regeneration and simultaneous dental implant in the aesthetic zone in minor bone defects (<4 mm) is an appropriate surgical and prosthetic technique to reduce surgical time, providing stability of peri-implant tissues even 3 years after functional implant loading.

Dentigerous cysts are a common cystic pathology that develop between the first and third decade of life and are mainly associated with impacted or erupted mandibular third molars followed by maxillary canines and maxillary third molars. These kinds of cysts are the result of the proliferation of enamel epithelium after its formation, the pathogenesis of which is not clear. Few of these cysts have been reported in pediatric patients. The following case report presents the rare occurrence ofa dentigerous cyst in a 6-year-old boy and describes the treatment administered.

Periodontal disease (PD) is an oral pathology with a high prevalence worldwide. There are different treatments for periodontal disease, with the trend in recent years being towards minimally invasive treatments. In cases where implants cannot be treated predictably in the long term, we should also consider removing the implant using atraumatic methods and retreatment of the case. A point to be taken into account both for the insertion of a dental implant and for its maintenance afterperiimplantitis or for its replacement is the periodontal status of the patient. Periodontal disease can affect the prognosis of our treatment in this type of situation. In the following clinical case, we show the treatment of a patient affected by PD and periimplantitis with a minimally invasive approach.

Introduction: Hypersensitivity, altered dental appearance and fractures are common problems in molar incisor hypomineralization that generate functional and socio-emotional problems. Objective: to evaluate the effect of MIH on oral health-related quality of life in children and adolescents. Materials and methods: A systematic bibliographic search was carried out in electronic databases (Pubmed, Epistemonikos, Dentistry & Oral Sciences Source and Virtual Health Library). Observational studies in English or Spanish conducted between 2016-2022 that evaluated the quality of life of children and adolescents with molar incisor hypomineralization were identified. Results: Of 96 identified studies, thirteen were included in the synthesis. The most frequent diagnostic criterion for hypomineralization of molar incisors was the index of the European Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and nine studies reported the severity of the disease. The most widely used scale to measure quality of life was the Child Perception Questionnaire (CPQ). According to the children's perception, the most affected dimensions were "Oral Symptoms" and "Emotional Well-Being", according to the parents they were "Oral Symptoms" and "Functional Limitations". Girls with molar incisor hypomineralization had worse oral health-related quality of life. Conclusions: The negative effect of molar incisor hypomineralization on children’s oral health-related quality of life seems to vary between the perception of parents and children.

Objective: To evaluate the maximum compressive stress in maxillary central incisors restored with fiberglass posts and three types of crowns by the FEM finite element method. Materials and methods: The study was a virtual, descriptive, and laboratory trial. Three virtual models were made using the SolidWorks 2017 software from upper central incisors rehabilitated with fiberglass posts and a metal-ceramic crown, a monolithic lithium disilicate crown, and a zirconium-ceramic crown. They were then subjected to an oblique occlusal load of 150N with an angulation of 45°, distributed towards the palatal aspect. The stress analysis proceeded by comparing the maximum, minimum, and equivalent von Mises stresses. Results: The maximum compressive stress was found at the cervical level in the vestibular area of each of the crowns. Zirconium-ceramic crown (Design 3) was the one with the highest compressive stress with 73.89 MPa, followed by Lithium Disilicate crown (Design 2) with 63.42 MPa and the metal-ceramic crown (Design 1) with 48.4 MPa. Conclusion: The zirconium-ceramic crown better distributes the stress along the tooth since, due to its rigidity, it absorbs the stresses that are concentrated especially in the cervical area, which could indicate that it is the most appropriate option to rehabilitate endodontically treated teeth.

Introduction: Currently dental aesthetics during fixed orthodontic treatment is an option required by patients, due to the frequent pigmentations that can occur in tooth enamel as a result of inadequate oral hygiene and plaque retention caused by fixed appliances. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of dental whitening and its side effects during active fixed orthodontic treatment, as an alternative aesthetic treatment in certain cases that merit it. Materials and methods: This narrative review evaluated 35 scientific articles from the Medline information sources (via PUBMED), EMBASE, SCOPUS, SCIELO, and LILACS from the last 10 years, published in Spanish, Portuguese, and English. We included 17 articles that met the selection criteria which were randomized clinical trials and observational studies, in vitro studies, and in vivo studies that evaluated in-office dental clearance, performed on patients using fixed orthodontic treatment at that time. Systematic reviews, case reports, and editorials were excluded. Results: It was observed that dental whitening in patients with active orthodontic treatment minimally affects the adhesion of the orthodontic apparatus to the tooth surface. In addition, some studies observed that the brackets interfere with the extension of the dental lightening, evidencing slightly darker areas. Conclusions: Dental whitening during orthodontic treatment can be given efficiently in clinical practice, depending on the aesthetic requirement of the patient. However, it is a recommended procedure in certain cases of great need for immediate aesthetics, since, the material with which the brackets are installed on the dental surface, will interfere with the extension of the lightening material, resulting in a darker shade in that sector and different from the surrounding tissue. Likewise, it will intervene in the adhesion to the dental surface, having many probabilities that the orthodontic apparatus can detach.

Miniscrews offer the possibility of performing dental movements, minimizing unwanted side effects, and enhancing effectiveness. Extra-alveolar miniscrews are ideal as they provide excellent primary stability and avoid anatomical structures. However, in some cases, the primary stability is lost before achieving the success of the mechanics used and thus, the most likely causes of failure should be determined. The purpose of this review was to analyze the success rate of infrazygomatic miniscrews, considering their design and the insertion techniques used. Data collection of this literature review was carried out by searching PubMed, Wiley, Google Scholar sites, SCIELO, Elsevier, and Dialnet for publication made from 2003 to June 2022. The search was carried out on June 10th, 2022, and the following keywords were used; infrazygomatic crest, miniscrews, anchorage, and stability. Different topics were analyzed and discussed highlighting their clinical relevance. After analyzing the 798 articles, 566 were excluded. The remaining articles were reanalyzed and 153 articles were excluded for the title or abstract and 33 articles were excluded for the methodology. Finally, 46 items remained. After thoroughly analyzing all the articles included, this study concluded that the alloy of the miniscrew (stainless steel or titanium), perforation of the maxillary sinus, and the placement area (adhered mucosa or mobile mucosa) do not influence the survival of the miniscrew. The evidence also indicates that the percentage of failure is lower in infrazygomatic compared to intraradicular miniscrews. Orthodontists can confidently and safely include infrazygomatic miniscrew in different orthodontic procedures.

Objective: To describe the existing knowledge about the alterations of the MBO and the presence of LO in patients with ALL. Material and Method: An electronic search was carried out in the PubMed, Scielo, and Academic Google databases, and descriptive, analytical, and observational articles on MBO, LO, and LLA were included. 642 articles were evaluated, duplicate articles, case reports, and those where they only reported changes during or after chemotherapy treatment were eliminated. Results: 10 articles were evaluated and published between 1997 and 2021, 4 articles agreed that the MBO of patients with LLA was found in dysbiosis showing a significant increase in firmicutes, bacillus, and opportunistic bacteria such as Moraxella spp, Klebsiella spp, Pseudomonas spp, Enterobacter spp, Acinetobacter spp, andE. coli, the most frequent LO reported in 5 articles were spontaneous gingival bleeding, gingivitis, and ulcers. Conclusions: The oral cavity of patients with ALL is in dysbiosis and associated OL is identified. It is necessary to establish preventive strategies with a niche-ecological approach to restore the MBO, to reduce the risk of opportunistic infections and other LO during chemotherapy treatment
