Resumen
A descriptive study of correlation and cross-sectional cut was conducted to characterize oral health in an adolescent population (12 years old); the group was chosen from “Raul Sanchez” health area in order to draw a strategy of intervention to modify oral-dental health chart. The target group was comprised of 269 adolescents with a probabilistic stratified sample of 90 subjects; using the oral-dental indicators proposed by the International Dental Federation: percentage of children without tooth decay, COP-D epidemiological classification, risk factors, prevalence of periodontal diseases, malocclusions, condition and permanence of first permanent molar. Records of tooth decay, poor oral hygiene and heredity constituted the risk factors of greatest incidence on the onset of tooth decay and periodontal diseases, whereas deforming habits were present in malocclusions. In periodontal diseases and tooth decay male sex prevailed. The index of COP-D was below the goal of WHO proposed to 2010. The prevalence of periodontal diseases reached the parameters established by the FDI/WHO to 2010, while malocclusions were over the stipulated. The epidemiological classification of sick person achieved a high percentage.

Resumen
Neurofibromatosis type-1 is a neuroectodermic genetic condition, where different types of mutations in NF1 gene have been described. Its locus is located at chromosome-17, thousand of genes are mapping, and some of them are found in very near regions of the gene of this disease. Medical literature about the topic was reviewed; a case presenting the exact clinical characteristics of a microdeletion syndrome of NF1 gene is reported, which constitutes a new case to the Cuban medical science.

DeCS: ANCIANOS, GERIATRIA/clasificación.ABSTRACTCurrent societies are characterized by an increase in the aged population. That is why a multidisciplinary and dentistry care is necessary. A descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted from October 2009 to July 2010 to assess the oral health of the geriatric population that live in the health area of "Raul Sanchez" Outpatient Clinic, Pinar del Rio. The target group was comprised of the total of patients older than 60 years old (1563), out of them a sample of 390 was taken through a probabilistic conglomeration of two stages. An oral and extra-oral examination was performed. An epidemiological survey was prepared to collect information about oral health and knowledge. To process the information a chi square test was applied to the association of qualitative variables up to 95% of confidence. Hypertension affected most of the elderly and diabetes mellitus as well, which has close relation to the oral health; periodontal disease and sub-prosthetic stomatitis were the prevailing oral pathologies; deficient oral and prosthetic hygiene prevailed as risk factors and were the conditions that most affected the patients that participated in the study; the third part of them needed prosthetic rehabilitation. Oral health was deficient in the geriatric population included in this study.DeCS: The elderly, geriatrics/classification

Resumen
Neurofibromatosis type-1 is a genetic condition that affects the development and cellular growth of the nervous system, which is clinically characterized by multiple café-au-lait spots, neurofibromas, freckles in non-sun exposed regions, Lisch nodules, osseous lesions and optic glioma. The present paper describes two families, having some individuals suffering from this condition and other members of the same family who present a different genetic condition. The intrafamilial coexistence of two different genetic conditions is very rare, that is why a literature review and a scientific research about the topic were carried out.

Palabras clave: CISTICERCOSIS, NEUROCISTICERCOSIS, TAENIA SOLIUM.ABSTRACTCysticercosis constitutes a public health problem in endemic areas of Mexico, Western Europe, Asia, Central and South America and Africa, which are the most representative. Due to the frequency of assisting patients who presented neurological disorders caused by the encystment of this larva in the brain a case at "Mario C. Rivas" Hospital in San Pedro Sula, Honduras is presented. A 17 year-old male patient with health records of the onset of generalized tonic-clonic seizures attended to the hospital. The diagnosis of a cysticercoid cyst in the right parietal region was confirmed by axial computerized tomography and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). The treatment was initiated with albendazole (400mg e/12 hours), and follow up with NMR.Key words: CYSTICERCOSIS, NEUROCYSTICERCOSIS, TAENIA SOLIUM.
